Just back from Southampton..

Hi,

 

As the title says, just back from Southampton. We were booked on a Red Funnel ferry to go and watch QE sailaway for the first time - taken a load of videos and photos which I will upload all tomorrow but here is a taster below :)

 

 

 

 

 

Was amazing to see her sailaway, there must have been over 50 vessels following and surrounding her as she made her way down the River Test. Truly a fantastic atmosphere (especially for those aboard no doubt too!)

i was onboard waverley had a lovely day also and saw plenty. at least youn werre ahead of her. we were behind her but at kleast saw her leasve. wanted a close up of hythe side of her lifeboats. a good day

Been uploading them throughout the day, photos nearly finished.

I filmed (which Cunard even posted on Facebook too!) It's just over 6 mins long and shows her from the bow, sounding her whistle and passing by with music playing aboard for the sailaway.. :D

Final bit of geekery to add to this post. I GPS logged the Red Eagle ferry we were on.

 

The following link shows you the route the ferry took to watch her. I will be datalogging the next cruise I am hopefully (QM2 Nov 8th) although not much of a route to Cherbourg and back ;)
