I organized and ran a tournament on our transatlantic cruise on Jewel in November and we had 75 participants.  I did have help, since it can be overwhelming.  We had everyone put $15 in the machine when it was their turn.  Many of the participants asked me to run one again later in the cruise because it was so much fun.  I think we each got back $13 with the change going to the highest scorers.  Everyone agreed to let me use my card. Although it sounds like it would be a lot of points, it really wasn’t.  I think I earned 160.  The Casino Host and Manager gave us T-shirt’s to award to the highest spinners.  They were really helpful and supportive.

One word of advice for anyone who wants to run one......make sure to list everyone’s name on an excel spreadsheet.  You’ll need to keep track of individual spins and this is the easiest way.  It’s also next to impossible for one person to do it all so ask for help.

Jewel was in the NE/Canada and Caribbean in Oct and Nov where she currently is out of San Juan. The TA was before that.  We were on her Oct 20 and Oct 30 for the Canada (Quebec City) cruise and after ours ended Nov 9 she proceeded to San Juan.  Anyway, there was a slot pull held on ours a couple of times and all I can say is they took over an area, and were yelling and encroaching on those trying to just play at a machine.  Not a fan at all.

We will never do a slot pull again. On our last one, over 5 years ago, the organizer(using a laptop) took 3 hours to figure out how much $ all 20 of us would get back. Seemed very shady to me. I don't know if she was hoping most people would leave the casino and then she would take their share? Don't know. She said that she had organized many slot pulls on her cruises.

A Slot pull can last an hour, but it varies. We also disperse money quickly. We bring change ahead of time. Unless we hit a big jackpot, things move quickly. If we hit a jackpot of 1200 or more, then 25% needs to be taken off the top for taxes.

Sorry, I’m new to Cruise Critic and still learning

You might want to post this to the roll call for your specific cruise then.  You may get some interest there.
