Just got a phone call from travel agent that our sailing on Saturday is delayed. No one allowed in garage till 5pm with boarding at 6pm. I believe sailing is at 10pm. This is due to Norovirus outbreak on the last cruise.

Must be happening on the current cruise. We were on the NYE cruise that docked on the 3rd, and there was no outbreak on our cruise.

I was on a cruise once the week following a outbreak. People were still getting sick. I think it was some staff that were passing it around. It was not as bad as the week before, but my aunt lost three days, and I was sick for one.

Bummer. We're on the cruise too. Hate we're losing a day but glad they are doing a thorough cleaning before letting us board. Wonder if we'll get some OBC since we are losing a day. Anybody been in a similar situation and know?

Although it will be a delayed departure, you are not "losing a day". The itinerary is not impacted by the late departure, so do not expect to receive any OBC.

During Radiance of the Seas' last sailing, a number of guests onboard experienced some gastrointestinal illness. At Royal Caribbean International, we have high health standards for all our guests and crew. Therefore, in an abundance of caution, tomorrow we will conduct some enhanced sanitizing onboard the ship and within the cruise terminal to help prevent any illness from affecting the next sailing.

Because of this enhanced sanitation, the boarding process for Radiance of the Seas is now anticipated to begin at 6:00 p.m. We apologize in advance for this delay to the boarding process and we thank you our guests for their understanding.

Parking and seating at in the cruise terminal is very limited. Therefore, guest should not arrive at the pier on Saturday before 5:00 p.m. Regrettably, due to the limited facilities and seating area, we must turn away any car that arrives at the terminal before 5:00 p.m. We kindly ask that guests arrive at the terminal between 5:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. for check-in and boarding.

If you have experienced any gastrointestinal symptoms within the last three days, we ask that you please consider rescheduling your cruise.

Norovirus is an extremely common gastrointestinal illness, and only the common cold is more prevalent. According to health specialists, about 300 million people in the world are affected by norovirus every year.

The health and well-being of our guests is very important to us and we believe that these additional measures will further assist in ensuring that our guests' vacation experience is a fun, relaxing and healthy experience.

The same scenario happened to us in Oct when embarking the Jewel for our 13 nt repo.

The ship came in sick. They had all passengers disembark and then the B2B passengers were sent on a free city tour so they could deeply sanitize the ship. We were delayed about 3 hours.

Once we boarded anything regarding food handling was done by the staff, you could not take your own plate, napkins, they served what you wanted on your plate.

Better to be safe than sorry...well in this case, sick.

I drink this tea everyday and I haven't had a cold in over 8 years. I used to get 2 to 3 colds every year before I started drinking the tea.

I bring it on every cruise. I will DEFINITELY be bringing extra. If people are getting sick, I want to be able to drink it a couple times a day.

If we booked the Radiance Jan. 13th on another ship, will they notify us not to board at regular time or do I just need to check the morning of the 13th?

You're going to have to trust me on this but ... Norovirus is NOTHING like a cold!

Without giving too many details, I'll just say that the tiny bathrooms that allow access to the sink and the toilet, at the same time, come in very handy. :o

Although a port stop is not affected, embarkation day is day 1, so yes, they are losing a day.

Why isn't there any notice of this delay on the RC website?

Hoax?

The notice was there earlier today (orange "important" banner at the bottom of the homepage) because I checked as soon as my husband took the call telling us not to report to the pier until 5:00 pm. Not that I didn't believe he had gotten the information correct, but, you know, just wanted to see for myself. LOL I don't know why it is not there now. Same reason the C&A stuff has disappeared I guess.

Just saw a news story here in Tampa. They are cleaning the ship right now and working to make sure everyone has a safe trip. If you are sailing on her this week or any ship...please use the hand sanitizer located all throughout the ship. It helps you and everyone else on board.

Just a tip...We also always take our own sanitizer wipes and wipe down the cabin when we arrive, TV remote, door knob, bathroom handles etc. May be a little too paranoid but rather be safe than sorry.

I wish everyone a safe and healthy cruise vacation on this beautiful ship!

Just got off the Radiance in Tampa at 6:30 am. They moved disembarkation up to 6 am from 9 am to clear the ship earlier to spend the day disinfecting the ship. If they do not pass the health inspection they cannot sail. This information was from the loyalty C&A ambassador. The concierge told us that there were over 100 cases reported in one day to the ship's medical facilities. The last couple of days we couldn't handle any food items or serving utensils ourselves, or use menus or beverage lists. The library was closed. The illness was gastrointestinal and not a cold virus or upper respiritory.

However, we did not know anyone who got sick and it was reported to us that none of the crew had gotten sick.

We had an unfortunate incident embarking on this cruise, since the ship was delayed on Jan. 3 due to fog on the gulf and they did not want to navigate the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in the fog. So we were not able to board until 5 pm and our sailaway was at 9 pm. Still, embarkation was handled fairly well under the circumstances. We received $20 pp OBC to cover lunch expenses on Jan. 3 while waiting to board.

I think the ship had to be cleared by 7:30 am to be able to complete the cleaning process by 6 pm. The cruise itself was delightful, with wonderful weather, and the only way we knew there was illness aboard was because of the increased cleaning procedures and announcements by the captain.

We also just got off Radiance. My wife unfortunately was one of the ones that got sick. The medical facility did a really good job and got her medication that stopped the symptoms. The symptoms only lasted a day and she is felling fine now. The ship's crew was doing their best to try and keep the ship clean. Frankly I'm not sure how she got it. We are both very clean and we both wash our hand regularly along with using the hand sanitation. Just one of those unlucky things.

With boarding pushed back to 6:00PM many passengers will miss two planned meals (Lunch in the Windjammer, and dinner), and many will also miss out the first night show. Has there been any mention of compensation?

Talking with the wait staff this morning they said dinner was going to be open seating on the ship tonight for everyone.
