peggyann Posted February 9, 2011 #76 Share Posted February 9, 2011 I love sea days. I enjoy looking at the sea, the wake, the lacy foam pushing away from the ship. No two seconds alike on the foam. I guess I love the sea and cruising allows me to indulge this love. Love seeing the horizon empty, except for the occasional tanker or other cruise ship. "How deep is the ocean, how high is the sky?" A romantic at heart am I.
Denny01 Posted February 9, 2011 #77 Share Posted February 9, 2011 add us to the Love Sea Days. Just finished a Princess Hawaii cruise with 4 seadays there and 4 back. We've done 2 Celebrity TransAtl and had full days on all. Not just relaxing and reading but lectures, games and socializing. I still work but my wife doesn't anymore but she's replaced worktime with volunteer time so she needs the Sea Day downtime more than me. Personally, there's nothing quite like standing on my balcony looking at that sharp-edged horizon. Den

Janet524 Posted February 9, 2011 #79 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Do you hate days at sea or is it just me? I get so bored, HOT...what do you do? LOVE sea days....Can't have enough of them! It's just you!
BroncosFan2010 Posted February 9, 2011 #80 Share Posted February 9, 2011 I used to not like sea day. I used to get bored and feel restless. However, on my last cruise, a B2B, I had time to RELAX completely and since we had 15 days, I was not worried about trying to cram everything into the vacation. Now, I don't mind sea days. I don't get much time to relax at home, and I have a very stressful job. I am actually looking forward to my 5 sea days on my upcoming 14 night cruise. erin_cruisers Posted February 9, 2011 #81 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Absolutely love sea days. A perfect cruise for us is a 50/50 mix of port days and sea days. My feelings exactly.
TomCruises Posted February 9, 2011 #82 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Years ago, when I first began cruising,I didn't like sea days but rather enjoyed port intensive itineraries. Now that I'm just a little older,I really enjoy the sea days as it makes for a relaxing, peaceful and enjoyable cruise.Doing "nothing" for several days balances the experience! cruise kitty Posted February 10, 2011 #83 Share Posted February 10, 2011 Love the sea days! Next trip is port intensive, but after that, we'll probably do another TA. There's nothing to compare to the feeling of leaving that last port, listening to the ship's horns, & knowing that you have 6 days of absolute relaxation ahead of you. Plus they throw in an extra hour of sleep each night! As long as my kindle is full & my alcohol pkg is paid for, I'm good to go.
SusieV Posted February 10, 2011 #84 Share Posted February 10, 2011 Count us in with people who love sea days. So relaxing but there are lots of activities going on if you want to do something. And if not- there's always just vegging on the balcony with a drink in one hand and a good book in the other.
hildacloake Posted February 10, 2011 #85 Share Posted February 10, 2011 Love Sea Days on a nice ship! The islands and ports kind of all look the same after a while, with a few exceptions (St. Maartens, Barbados, ...). My DH especially likes it I think, as I'm stuck on the ship and can't do much shopping -- well, sort of ;)
C&F Posted February 10, 2011 #86 Share Posted February 10, 2011 Love sea days. Next cruise is 6 port days out of 7 and I know I will miss the sea days. I cruise to be on the sea. Otherwise I'd take land vacations.
Rare Seapoint Posted February 10, 2011 #87 Share Posted February 10, 2011 Prefer itineraries with more sea days! There is always so much to do...read, swim, lectures, glass show, bocce, gym, lie in sun, watch sun set, eat, ...really hard to fit it all in!! digital_curator Posted February 10, 2011 #88 Share Posted February 10, 2011 I, like the majority, love sea days. A perfect mix for me would be a port/sea/port/sea (etc.) itinerary, so that we could recouperate from our land-based activities. On our last cruise, we only had 2 sea days and the first day was almost completely taken up with CC activities: Slept in Late breakfast Photographed the buffet brunch in the MDR CC slot pull Brunch in the MDR with CC friends CC cabin crawl Wine tasting Hang out in the solarium Cocktail with CC friends at the aft bar Get ready for dinner Almost as exhausting as a port day!:D On longer cruises, we can spread some of this out more and have more time to relax. We have a TA coming up this fall and I can't wait to have a few days in a row to relax and explore the ship!

Gurley Cruiser Posted February 10, 2011 #90 Share Posted February 10, 2011 If we had a choice, we would opt for all sea days ! :D:D  :D:D I'm so happy to see that others feel the same as we do. The reason that we cruise is that it's such a relaxing vacation. I'm sure you've all heard the famous cruse quote; "if you drop your room key, just wait a second and someone will come along and pick it up for you." I realize that a few years ago that may have been absolutely true. However, even today when you get on a cruise ship there's little to worry about and we're pretty well cared for. There's no other vacation, and we do many others, where I relax like on do on a cruise ship. Many of the ports seem to blend together, but we have special memories of every ship that we've cruised on.
losb9525 Posted February 10, 2011 #91 Share Posted February 10, 2011 I love sea days. We don't do excursions. Would prefer a couple of ports then the rest sea days
hajekfam Posted February 10, 2011 #92 Share Posted February 10, 2011 Love sea days - in fact if there was a 14 day or longer cruise with no sea days, we would jump on it. For us, the cruise and cruiseship is the vacation - the ports are just extras. If we wanted ports as our primary vacation experience, we would do a land based vacation. Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted February 10, 2011 #93 Share Posted February 10, 2011 After reading all the reasons why so many people love sea days, I know why I don't like them.... they're just like home for me. I like the port days because there's something to DO, a reason to get up and get out, something besides what I do at home (read, do puzzles, sit, relax, go for a walk, have a cup of coffee, talk to a friend, figure out what we'll have for dinner, go shopping, etc). Sea days are just another day to me. But those days at home don't come with crew--someone to do all the cooking, washing, cleaning. They don't come with the ocean either (at least where I live). I'll take the sea days any day!!!

tispwisp Posted February 10, 2011 #95 Share Posted February 10, 2011 DH and I are definitely sea day people! We usually get off on port walk a little bit and then go back onto the ship and onto our balcony! The more sea days the better!
biguntx Posted February 10, 2011 #96 Share Posted February 10, 2011 Sea days at the end of a cruise can make for a "blue period", however, I love everything about cruising...so mark me down as loving sea days.

winncruiser Posted February 11, 2011 Author #98 Share Posted February 11, 2011 There are so many wonderful responses. I must say that when I posted this thread I had no idea that the topic would generate so much discussion. The one obvious point that has been made by all responders is that we enjoy being onboard a ship..anywhere, anytime. Bon Voyage!
caribbean52010 Posted February 11, 2011 #99 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I actually prefer the sea days over the ports. It's a toss up with us as we like ports as well. But when at sea we love it. Love to relax by the pool and enjoy the day. Vacations should time to relax. Not be stressed. Sea days should give you a relaxing day. If not then why cruise. Sabbycat Posted February 11, 2011 #100 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I am taking a TA cruise this year, just so that I can have MORE sea days. In the past our cruises have been port intensive w/ just 3 sea days ea on 14 day cruises! This year I think it is 8! Can't wait!
