Rare bobmacliberty Posted March 4, 2011 #26 Share Posted March 4, 2011 Next morning, we woke up to this: Liberty is closest to us. I remember this hotel and this view well. What a great way to start day 1 of your cruise. Looking forward to the rest of your review.
Cruzface Posted March 4, 2011 Author #27 Share Posted March 4, 2011 Shows/Comedian etc.: Production shows were weird except for Beatles show. “In the Air” must mean there is cannabis in the air. *****? We really tried to stay and watch, but after a while our eyes hurt. Only saw one comedian and he was OK. We did not like the schedule for late seating (us). Only two shows were at 10:45 pm. All the rest were 7:00 p.m. which would mean we would have to get ready for dinner earlier, go see the show and then go eat. Not much to ask, I know, but not exactly what we wanted to do. Our kids especially liked on previous cruises to go to shows with their new friends after dinner. It gave them a purpose. Hence they had nothing to do other than wander around. Cruise Director: Gordon? Saw him only 3 times. In previously mentioned Schooner, Quest (below), and Make a Wish walk on pool deck last day. Anyone who thinks the CD doesn’t make a difference is wrong. Very little participation and not a real fun vibe on this cruise. In fact, on the last sea day, they canceled the Sexiest Man competition because NOBODY joined! Never seen that before. Quest: Really fun. We never saw it before so had no idea what to expect. Next time we will participate and be prepared…. Ice Show: Didn’t see it, but my DW and 2 DFs did (long story). They said it was awesome. Don’t miss it. Rare BillOh Posted March 4, 2011 #28 Share Posted March 4, 2011 Liberty is closest to us. One thing I love about departing from Miami is turning the corner by AA arena and seeing the ships as you climb the bridge. With Liberty parked in that first spot, you spot her fairly quickly. I first saw her in that spot, behind Majesty when she first arrived in Miami. Cruzface Posted March 4, 2011 Author #29 Share Posted March 4, 2011 DreamWorks: I know people were worried about this but really not in your face. We saw them for first sail away: The Lion Guy from Madagascar: King Something (I think he's a Lemur): Henrietta Hippo?: Sorry, I don't really know their names... These two I do know. Shrek and Fiona:
Cruzface Posted March 4, 2011 Author #30 Share Posted March 4, 2011 The last night in the MDR, the kids from Adventure Ocean put on a little show with a pirate theme. It was cute. The best part was that my DW's favorite character was there. She squealed like a little girl. Aside from this, we never saw them. You had to seek them out. They had photo ops in the Sphinx at designated times and character breakfasts which they did not promote at all. Random pic of the day: Leaving Miami:
SpartyOn813 Posted March 4, 2011 #31 Share Posted March 4, 2011 My daughter just laughed at me and said the Hippo's name is JULIA Mom! Hahaha! I said "Here's Henrietta Hippo!" She is 10 and very excited!
Cruzface Posted March 4, 2011 Author #32 Share Posted March 4, 2011 Outdoor Movie Screen: In my opinion, under-used. Secretariat, Grease and Katy Perry (at 1 a.m.!!!) Other than that, nothing but stock images, trivia, and briefly (thankfully) ESPN. First Day: Last Day (Trivia!!!!): Here is an idea RCI. Scrap the Screening Room which is in the bowels of the ship and show the movies on the outdoor big screen every night at 7 and 10. They had good movies down there: Robin Hood, Prince of Persia, Toy Story 3. The pool deck will be packed and the teens will have a place to hang out, rather than….roaming. I mean, my kids actually hung out in the library because there were comfy chairs. Can’t get them in a library at home…. By the way, this is what the Promenade looks like at 3 a.m. on the last day when my friend and I left the casino:eek:: We weren't the only people up at that hour. Just sayin'.... She is 10 and very excited! LOL! Sorry, my kids are older. But really, pay close attention to the compasses because they don't promote the DreamWorks stuff that much, except for Move it, Move it Parade. We didn't go but my kids loved it. SpartyOn813 Posted March 4, 2011 #34 Share Posted March 4, 2011 Those pics are great and we absolutely cannot wait! Do you happen to know if it's possible to open up balconies between 2 cabins? We are in a JS and our kids are in a D1 next to us. The cabins are not adjoining but I was led to believe that the balconies could join which is just as good. What a bummer about the MUTS. Princess did that really really well. Great movies around 9 pm and the pool chairs were rearranged as movie loungers with blankets and a popcorn machine. It was awesome. I really want to see Secretariat too but definitely NOT at 1 am!!

How old are your kids? I am hoping my 13 yr old son will want to check out Fuel. Did your kids do that? I know my daughter will want to see that parade and the ice show for sure. SpartyOn813 Posted March 4, 2011 #36 Share Posted March 4, 2011 Oh and one more question (for now...lol!) How did you do in the Casino? Our last 4 cruises have been Disney with no casino. I'm not a huge gambler but I like slots from time to time and blackjack.
Cruzface Posted March 4, 2011 Author #37 Share Posted March 4, 2011 Parades: The first one was really great. Costumes, singing, fun. Didn’t go to Move it Move it (Character Parade) because we would have had to miss sail away. Kids went and said it was great. Sorry no pics. SpartyOn813 Posted March 4, 2011 #39 Share Posted March 4, 2011 So the Move it Move it parade is the same time as sail away? Is the parade on the promenade deck and sail away up by the pools? What did they do for sail away? I'm confused...my daughter will want to do it ALL!

I know my daughter will want to see that parade and the ice show for sure. My boys are 15 and 13, they checked out Fuel, but I think it was dominated by older teens so they felt a little intimidated. Hence, the library...
huenix Posted March 4, 2011 #41 Share Posted March 4, 2011 We leave tomorrow!!!! SO EXCITED! It's the biggest ship we've been on and looks fantastic! Thanks for all of your great reviews! Love the get glass/swipe card/dispense wine bit! I'm not really much for bars but based on your reviews of the fun shows in some of them we will for sure check them out! Thanks again! I will post my reviews when we get back. Hijaking someone else's thread but... The greatest thing about the bars both in the promenade and forward is that they aren't enclosed. Its not really a "bar" atmosphere, you just wander up and get drinks. My DW and I went to the one bar most every night for trivia (Schooners? The one forward of Sorrentos), got drinks and just wandered.
Cruzface Posted March 4, 2011 Author #42 Share Posted March 4, 2011 Oh and one more question (for now...lol!) How did you do in the Casino? Our last 4 cruises have been Disney with no casino. I'm not a huge gambler but I like slots from time to time and blackjack. Lost about $150 playing blackjack. No big deal because I brought $400 to lose between DW and myself. We aren't big gamblers either. Last two nights I didn't even gamble just watched my friend play.

Tyler80 Posted March 4, 2011 #46 Share Posted March 4, 2011 In regards to muster in the Sphinx, locations for guest assembly stations are actually all over the ship. Some meet outside on deck 4 under the life boats, others in the lounges, dining room or theater. Just depends on your stateroom location as to where your guest assembly location is assigned. Great review and photos so far! Glad you enjoyed your cruise!

It was really cute. My favorite one so far.
