Yup this has been posted yesterday or the day before.. I can't remember... 2 days in CABO is better than a day in Mazatlan to me anyways.. wish we had that when we cruised her;)
Litewait Posted March 25, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 25, 2011 I was really looking forward to Mazatlan, wanted to horseback ride again. However, I have to concur with Kruznkel.. 2 days in Cabo is awesome!! I am the last cruise of the change.. I didnt get an email...

I'm intrested to see if there has been some fall out.. I just posted a thread..the Splendor booking system has been down all day on Carnival... I just posted a thread..the Splendor booking system has been down all day on Carnival... I would guess because she was out of service for a while that the demand is still pretty high. If cancellations and soft booking happen as a result of two ports only, they will make other plans. West coast does not have many options.
waitn2cruz Posted March 25, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 25, 2011 I love Cabo, I just hate the tendering process. We will have a great time either way.
salty dingo Posted March 25, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 25, 2011 2 days in CABO is better than a day in Mazatlan to me anyways.. wish we had that when we cruised her;) I agree, but I did enjoy walking around Mazatlan. I wonder why the ship leaves Cabo in the evening and returns the next morning. Why not remain at anchor all night? That would be so cool!
Tannison Posted March 25, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 25, 2011 I believe they can't open the casino while they are in port.:)

Koiman1 Posted March 26, 2011 #12 Share Posted March 26, 2011 I just got my april 10 cruise schedule. This is really bad. 10th leave Long Beach 11th Sea day 12th sea day 13th Cabo 7am to 4pm 14th PV 9am to 5pm 15th Cabo 8am to 3pm 16th sea day 17th home. I never would have signed up for such a bad Schedule if this was the plan when I bought the trip. I REALLY Hate short stays in port. PV at night was a great time to be there. And of course carnival will not let you back out of the trip. This is the second time in less than a year the Splendor and Carnival have given me the short end of the stick. This is it for me and the Mexican Riviera.
candigirl Posted March 26, 2011 #13 Share Posted March 26, 2011 OMG!!!! We are so excited. We love CABO!! On our last Carnival Cruise, we were supposed to spend 2 days in Cabo (8/09), but Hurricane Jimena got in the way and we went to Catalina and Ensenada instead. We'll be sailing on the Splendor 7/31. I am new to Cruise Critic, but not to cruising. So please let me know if there is any gathering on this particular sailing...or how to find out. Thanks
HavasuMom Posted March 26, 2011 #14 Share Posted March 26, 2011 Yes, I was disappointed with this decision, I was hoping they would add a 3rd port. I am not looking forward to 2 days of tendering. I live in the desert and Cabo is not an exciting port for me. But I am glad they are looking out for our safety. I will miss Stone Island.:(
welldone60 Posted March 26, 2011 #15 Share Posted March 26, 2011 A two port 7 day cruise will not make the cut long term. Well here on the west coast you don't have much of a choice. You do the 2-day in Cabo along with PV or stay home. I dont think any of the lines are going to Matz. Some are just doing 2 port days and 4 sea days. The one good thing is Cabo is a fun port. HavasuMom Posted March 26, 2011 #17 Share Posted March 26, 2011 what fun excursions are there in Cabo? We snorkled last time we were there. We are going in May, so whales are gone. Maybe the ports will be at capacity or something that week?
junglejane Posted March 26, 2011 #19 Share Posted March 26, 2011 [/color][/i] Safty. They will not tender at night. There is not enough lighting on the dock. I was on the Sapphire Princess March12 cruise and we overnighted in Cabo. They ran the tenders until 11 pm. I asked the Captain at our Meet 'n Greet and he said tendering at night is not a problem. However, it may be that Carnival is going to move the ship so that they can open the casino.

Skuzzlebutt Posted March 26, 2011 #21 Share Posted March 26, 2011 I was just about to book a cruise for May 1st or 15th on the Splendor. I have been debating about buying now or waiting 1-2 more weeks to watch prices. Anyone have an opinion on what impact this will have on prices? I have a family of 4 with 2 little ones, so I wasn't planning on too many shore excursions. This might still be the right cruise for us, but maybe I should wait to see the impact on price. The best price I can get right now seems to be direct from Carnival, nothing special from other sources...
pjtulsa Posted March 26, 2011 #22 Share Posted March 26, 2011 I am sailing on the Splendor in July and will miss Mazatlan. I wish they would put Ixtapa or Manzanillo as a replacement or at the very least give us a true overnight in Cabo where we could enjoy the night life. I was on HAL 2 weeks ago and we did an overnight in PV because of the troubles in Mazatlan. We stayed docked and I am guessing we could come and go as late as we wanted, We didnt try as we had kiddos with us. I did hear that Other ships did stayed tendered in Cabo and even heard complaints that their overnight was there and not PV so I guess its hard to make everyone happy.
