jrdbrn Posted May 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2011 I am just looking for a general census of what people typically spend on the cruise. Drinks, casino, excursions, whatever! My wife and I are going with 2 of our friends. Last cruise I took, I spent abut $400 out of pocket since I won bingo. About $650 total in 4 days. This included everything while on the cruise. I am thinking along the lines of $1200-1500 this trip for 5 days. I want to really have a good time and not be a cheap *** like I usually am. Is $1500 more than the average cruiser will spend? It's been about 4 years since I've cruised, so I kinda forgot what everything costs.
maldenmusic Posted May 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 23, 2011 It always varies for us-probably between $400 and $800 for a 5 days cruise. I guess we are cheap :D
phatsneaks Posted May 23, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 23, 2011 just back from 7 day and bill was $800 only one drinking 4 bingo games this included a future cruise certificate. Overheard our balcony neighbors saying she checked their bill on day 6 they owed over $6000. WOW had to be casino could they drink that much? Cruisingzs Posted May 23, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 23, 2011 We spend about $750 on board. $40 soda card for DD. Picture from each port and 1 with Captian. About $200 in gift shops (cheap watch sale, shirt or two, maybe another piece of fake bling for the DD) wine with dinner and maybe a few Drinks od the Day. And then about $750 in ports. Now some are going to say that is spending too much. Some get by with less than $100 on board. This is a very relative question- HAVE FUN!! JennLuvs2Cruise Posted May 23, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 23, 2011 On my last cruise (7 day on the Dream), it was my fiancé, son & myself.. We spent about $1,500 total. That included food at the airport, tips, gambling at the casino, bingo, Cash Craze pull tabs, raffles, drinks, shore excursions, photos & souvenirs. We are prepared to spend about the same on our upcoming cruise. We usually bring about $2K to be on the safe side -- we like to enjoy ourselves while on vacation & "go all out" without worrying what everything costs. :)
BeccaBecca1713 Posted May 23, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 23, 2011 I'm a cheapo cruiser now. In the beginning we bought Carnival excursions, soda cards, etc.. Last cruise we only incurrred about $150 on the S&S. We brought our own sodas and nixed the Carnival excursions, instead taking cheap cabs to the beach and back! My one weakness is still photos!:)
wiskt Posted May 23, 2011 #7 Share Posted May 23, 2011 I usually plan on spending at least as much as I paid for the actual cruise itself. (usually ends up being more) So it all depends on how long the cruise is and with whom I am traveling with.
Kitt Lady Posted May 23, 2011 #8 Share Posted May 23, 2011 DH and I spend around $500 - $600 on spending on the ship. We do Carnival excursion in the ports so there is another - Well around $1200. The excursions I book on line before the cruise. Then at the end we do the Carnival transportation to the air port (last time $35 each). Have fun on your cruise! Honeyroastedmelnut Posted May 23, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 23, 2011 I selected >$2000 option. For DH & I we spent a little over $3k combined. That included the cabin, tips, excursions, spending money in port, boarding for the dog, travel to and from Tampa, and the hotel stay the night before our 7 night cruise. dwayneb236 Posted May 23, 2011 #10 Share Posted May 23, 2011 Wow, my wife and I must be extremely cheap. We spend around $100 to $150 total.
elcuchio24 Posted May 23, 2011 #11 Share Posted May 23, 2011 Just depends greatly on your spending habits. We do BV alcohol, which cuts down on the bar tab, don't gamble, don't go to the spa. Maybe do one CCL excursion, go to the steakhouse once or twice. I bet on average for a 7 nighter your S&S is under $400.
mprince4 Posted May 23, 2011 #12 Share Posted May 23, 2011 I selected less than $500. I only had $100 on my S&S card at the end of the cruise, but I spent about another $250-300 in ports, plus about $150 for hotel+parking. I didn't count gas. Boyfriend had a lot more on his S&S card but it was almost all casino

kujobie Posted May 23, 2011 #15 Share Posted May 23, 2011 $1000 for a week for the 2 of us is about average. Includes $200-$300 in shops, and maybe one Carnival tour, one night in steakhouse. The rest is bar tab.
michelle1836 Posted May 23, 2011 #16 Share Posted May 23, 2011 Sometimes you can pay for your excursions before you sail so you dont have to worry about that
Host Faith Posted May 23, 2011 #17 Share Posted May 23, 2011 For a 7-night cruise...perhaps about $250 onboard (we normally have about $250 in OBC at the start of the cruise). On land, we book our own excursions, so that may be about another $300-$400. We don't drink a whole lot, don't buy photos, etc. We don't shop all that much either. We enjoy specialty restaurants, use the internet, and I may use the spa if there's a special.
