depends on where and when we cruise.

Last cruise, I won $125.00 on bingo the first night, which basically paid for my bingo cards the rest of the cruise. We had 8 drink coupons from our PVP, which covered almost all of our drinking(we don't drink much either) 3 ports, 2 excursions booked, one cancelled because we were late to get into port (engine problems) We spent the excursion money on souveniers and liquor, about $100.00, maybe $150.00. Bought a carton of cigarettes on the ship, which he smoked most of before we got off the ship. (I don't know how much they were, just cheaper than anywhere on land in Texas)

Our S&S tab for our 2 cards was no more than $200.00. That includes the auto tips. We gave additional tips to our room steward and waiters, around $50.00-$60.00 total.

Our previous cruise was shorter, but we spent more on excursions and drinks, and I didn't win at bingo. Still didn't spend all that much. I had put $250.00 cash on my S&S card, got back about $100.00. His S&S card tab was about $150.00, autotips and drinks. Paid for parking the first time, $45.00, not the second. Hotel price was around $100.00 both times.

We drove twice as far to get to port the second cruise, so gas was twice as much. (Dallas to Galveston, Dallas to NOLA)

So, yeah, I think we're cheap cruisers, but we still have plenty of fun!:D

I'm a cheapo cruiser now. In the beginning we bought Carnival excursions, soda cards, etc.. Last cruise we only incurrred about $150 on the S&S. We brought our own sodas and nixed the Carnival excursions, instead taking cheap cabs to the beach and back! My one weakness is still photos!:)

You can save a few bucks,,get the same excursions on the pier,,make friends with someone and share a ride to the beach. Remember everything is negotiable.

I am just looking for a general census of what people typically spend on the cruise. Drinks, casino, excursions, whatever!

My wife and I are going with 2 of our friends. Last cruise I took, I spent abut $400 out of pocket since I won bingo. About $650 total in 4 days. This included everything while on the cruise. I am thinking along the lines of $1200-1500 this trip for 5 days. I want to really have a good time and not be a cheap *** like I usually am. Is $1500 more than the average cruiser will spend? It's been about 4 years since I've cruised, so I kinda forgot what everything costs.

You have your "<" and ">" symbols reversed.

I would say that you will easily spend $1500 between your S&S and ports. I have set aside about $2500 for 5 of us(1 adult and 4 kids). I have paid for our soda cards, and already purchased about 72 drink tickets and have $20 a day budgeted for the kids(I don't really think they will use that much). Just have fun…...

I figure about $75 a day. Of course I have won a bingo before and that helps. I always have about $1000 with me for a 7 day so that I don't have to worry about it. I like to pay as I go, so I don't get a huge bill at end of cruise. We carry our own booze, but always buy also and I love my time in the casino. Better to have extra than not enough. Never assume that the cruise will cost you nothing!!

We're going to Alaska. For hubby and I combined just our cruisefare (cruise, insurance & tips) is $4950 before excursions. Our excursions are $880. We were able to get flights for $640 for the two of us and car service for $90--one way to the hotel then to the airport following the cruise. Parking at the airport will be $125. Our pre cruise hotel is $310 and food in Seattle will be ??? Taxi service to the port from the hotel will be around $20, so it's just over $7000:eek: before any souveniers or onboard charges. Thankfully, the big expenses are paid for already and there won't be a credit card balance to come into play. I know we'll have a wonderful anniversary, regardless of the cost ♥

Our bill is usually 800 to 1000 for 7 day cruise. Drinks, camp carnival and pictures is what drives it up. We usually gamble with cash but have used the ss card for gambling too. Totally worth it when you compare to a land based vacation.

Our average is between $650 and $800. Most we've EVER spent was $850 on an 8 day to the Southern Caribbean. We drink a little, play a few slots, play bingo every day, buy a couple of things in the shops, do either the Chef's Table or the Steakhouse, take home pictures, all those wonderful things that contribute to Carnival's bottom line. :D

With that said, I've usually paid for the excursions already, so I don't count that. I pay for as much as I can upfront before the cruise so I don't have to fret over credit card bills afterwards. It's all done!

I voted <$500 as DW and I only drink wine. We carry 2 bottles on board, go to the past guest and bon voyage parties, and drink wine in evenings when dancing. Do $100 or so in casino, and seldom take an excursion as we have been to most of the same Ports.

Interesting topic! :)

We are very low in the totem pole. DH and I usually spend less than $50 per cruise, after pre-paid gratuity.

I don't drink. DH doesn't drink much. We carry on half our quota of wine and soda and can't finish. We don't gamble. I don't like spa. DH doesn't like beef so no Steakhouse. We do our own excursions.

A couple of souvenirs and one photo, tops.

ETA: But next time this may change! Because next time I plan to book another cruise on board. :D

You have < and > backwards....

Yup, I am a math major and was thoroughly confused by the poll until I realized the signs were reversed. :p
how much alcohol can you bring on board?
I'm pretty creative, so I can bring several litres on board plus the allowed amount of wine. You aren't supposed to bring any alcohol on board, aside from wine.

This is great information but are you talking about per person or couple or what? We aren't big drinkers so I was thinking $300.00 each for a five day which will include auto tips. Maybe $200.00 each port per person this would include excursions. Do you think that will work? I will take more in case but would like a guesstament.

Tips for 2 people come to $160. Do you have them taken off your sail and sign card?

On my previous 7 day cruises with my wife I usually spent around $750 for the week. That includes tips and excursions and no alcoholic drinks.

Our next cruise with our son I'm guessing we will spend $1K-$1.2K. I do gamble about $40-50 everyday and enjoy Bingo.

We usually spend $600/$700.00 for a 7 day cruise. Mostly alcohol. I'm not the one doing most of the drinking.
My niece and her husband went on their first cruise last summer. Their bill was about $10,000!!!! They drank, gambled, bingoed (?), excursed (?), shopped, ate at the pay extra restaurants, and also allowed their 2 teenagers to charge with their S & S cards. They won a "free" cruise... (I don't think so), but they had a GREAT time.
They'll be taking a "free" cruise to Alaska next month.

I didn't read all the replies. Really should ask - per day average of cruise. Then ask per day average (minus tips) of extras.

A 3 day cruise should be under $500 while a 7 day cruise will probably be over.

Is it pp? I assume so.

I think I would have a heart attack if my S&S account was $2k, let alone $10k. Whatever floats their boat though!

For our last 8 day cruise we did we only spent $150 on our S&S account, strictly alcohol. We did not purchase any spa treatments, specialty restaurants, but we did prepay the gratuities, pre-purchased alcohol for the room from the BV department, and pre-paid the excursions we did (outside of Carnival anyways). That is how we got off so "cheaply". If you want to add the cost of the bottle we bought, it'd come to $206 we spent. Still, that is nothing compared to the $800 we spent on a 7 day 2 years ago (before I was aware of purchasing through BV).
