I heard a totally unconfirmed rumor

Recommended Posts

The rumor turned out to be true.

A European Oasis

With the departure of Oasis of the Seas to Europe in 2014 for a short fall season, Europe will get its first taste of mega-ship cruising. In addition to the two repositioning transatlantic sailings, Oasis will sail three Western Mediterranean itineraries out of Barcelona in September and October

Dear friends:

At the Royal Caribbean Park in Madrid I mention in another thread I posted today, I heard a rumor from one of RCCL's top selling travel agents here in Spain.

She said the Oasis would come to Barcelona for the 2013 or 2014 season.

While I have my doubts about that, it could be feasible for the standard 7-night western Med run -- all of the ports (except Villefranche) are major cities that could handle the Oasis. In keeping with the ship-destination policy of adding an additional sea-day, RCCL could skip Villefranche or could probably use Marseilles instead.

The ship would fit in Barcelona and in other ports such as Livorno, Civitavecchia. I have my doubts about Naples, though -- so maybe that port would be skipped. Or it could alternate itineraries and do the extra Italian port one week and the French port another week.

Please don't flame me -- it's just a rumor -- all of the "newer" class ships eventually make it over here sooner or later (NCL sent Epic here and we now have RCCL Liberty here) so there just might be some truth to it.

Kind regards,

Gunther and Uta

Well congrats and last laugh is on you. All the people that said no. Well they forgot about that little thing called dry dock....

No one FORGOT about drydock. The assertion was made that Oasis HAD to drydock in Europe as there were no other drydocks large enough for it. That assertion was false as the drydocks in Newport News, VA, are plenty big enough for it.

I'm thinking if the 9/13 9/18 and 9/23 sailing go ching ca ching for royal, you may very well see an Oasis class sooner then some think in Europe for the summer season maybe.
