Access American Insurance

Anyone ever had this insurance and had to use it? Did you have good service?

My son and family had it thru there online TA and the morning of departure wife's father passed away. Insurance reimbursed all cruise cost. No problem at all. They use this plan because it comes free from their TA.

Like the above poster mentions, there are sites that you can go to to compare insurance ( insuremytrip dot com )

We used to buy it for years -- had to use it twice -- father-in-law and mother-in-law died unexpectantly. Got out money back quickly.

But in 2010 we had MAJOR house damage due to a massive snow storm and we had to cancel our cruise. They refused to pay -- claiming that as long as there was at least one room we could live in -- no pay out!! They didn't care that 4 rooms suffered major damage -- roof collasped in one area -- tarps over major part of house -- they felt that we shoudl just leave the house as is and go on the cruise.

Will never book insurance with them again.

(It took 6 months for everything to be repaired by a Disaster Restoration team -- who were wonderful!!).

That certainly does not speak well for Access America. That's a bit over the top to expect you to just leave your home in that condition and go on a cruise. That is not reasonable IMO

Thank you for sharing your experience. Gives potential 'buyers' something to think about.

Obviously, very sorry you had that awful experience but happy all was put well in your home.

We came very close to a roof collapse this winter with feet of snow accumlated on our roof but thankfully, our contractor had it shoveled off for us 'just in time'.

Did you file a complaint with your State Insurance commission? Too late now, but they could have fought on your behalf assuming of course all provided information is 100% correct.
