NCL stretched both the Wind and the Dream a few years ago. Both are out of the NCL fleet now.

A scan through the website link below may help you identify the ship.

We sailed the Majesty in 2001. It had been cut in half and a new section added. I do not know exactly when it was done. Maybe google and see if there are any articles on it.

Info that would help - Where did you sail from? What ports did you go to?

There are only 3 ships that might fit that description as prviously mentioned, Wind, Dream and Majesty

I remember the cruise was out of Porta Rico I remember St Thomas Barbados and a few other Islands, what really springs to mind that on the taxiway coming home on the plane a British Airways one of the engine caught fire and we had to go down slide it was pretty frightening time.

Both the Windward and Dreamward were lengthened in 1998 and rechristened with their new shorter names. The Majesty was lengthened in 1999.

I think the OP might be thinking of the Wind since I don't remember the Dream sailing in the Caribbean. Didn't the Dream sail South America and Baltic Capitols?

I never know they could lengthen a ship! Learning something new everyday!!!!!

You should hear some of the fun they crew members have with the new people when they tell them the ship was stretched.. Of course, they think it part of their initiation !!!:D:D Too absurd to believe, but it is true !!

We sailed on the "little" Wind from Australia to Hawaii, and on the "big" Wind around Hawaii and to Fanning Island a few years later.

Ships that have been lengthened have not been so rare in regards to NCL. My first cruise on NCL was on the Sunward in '93 and she had a 'stretch' done when she was the Royal Viking Sky. NCL's Westward (Royal Viking Star) and Norwegian Star I (Royal Viking Sea) had the same procedure. Smaller ships without extra surcharge restaurants and no reserved seating at shows (first passengers in line get the best seats), but worth mentioning as part of NCL's heritage.

Now its coming back to me, I remember the wife got the dreaded tummy bug, she reckons after she eat the semi warm lasagna, she was in the cabin for a few days, one night I went down to the casino and had a few pulls of a slot machine and won about $1500, she perked up after that :D

We are now looking forward to our up and coming cruise on the RCI IOTS got plenty of $ for the slots, will play Blackjack, want to play Porker but a little shy of doing something wrong, I assume they give lessons at some stage in the casino ?

It is strange to think of the ship being cut in half and then getting an add-on. We were on the Majesty three times. On one of our sailings, I found out that our cabin was right where the ship was cut and added-on. I remember thinking I hope the add-on holds! :D

It is an amazing process !!! Well planned and executed. The add-on section is built in advance, and when the ship is cut in half, the new section is slid into place and welded. If you ever get an opportunity to see a video of it, be sure to watch !!

Pride of America was also lengthened, although before being christened.

Probably the Dream but it could have been the Wind.At that time they were called the Dreamward and the Winward. Actually in the late 90s the ship that went out of San Juan was the Seaward, but it was never stretched. The Seaward was one of our favorite ships, we sailed her 3 times.

The Dream sailed the Caribbean in 1997 from Miami. That was our first cruise which got us hooked.
