Rhapsody Of The Seas dry dock

On the USA website if you choose SHIPS down the bottom of the home screen, then choose Rhapsody ,.. Stop and look in the left hand corner there are some words that say "More to love coming soon" then scroll down and below where the deck plans are they have added these yellow highlighted NEW and COMING SOON refurb items?

 

Below is a link to it ... I hope it works!!!! But agree with everyone else ... The deck plans aren't changed but the site says they are post end of March. I have also specifically chosen JS AFT 8094 as it is dead centre and if it gets changed I will NOT be happy and I have been watching my booking for weeks now because I saw about 12 junior suites go on sale about 3 weeks ago with numbers that aren't on the deck plans!!!!

 

Is there any way you can put a note in your booking so that you can keep the current location if the cabin numbers change?

It never hurts to ask, but you have to assume they will check such things prior to moving your cabin....IF they move your cabin.

Some good and some not so good, IMHO, in the changes listed below. See comments in red.

 

We're currently on Rhapsody of the Seas, cruising from Sydney to Singapore where she will go into drydock.:D

 

Staff on board have mentioned the following changes to take place during dry dock.

 

Loyalty Lounge & Internet Computers to move to Deck 4. The space they currently occupy on Deck 8 to become cabins. OK - never saw these spaces used much.

The sculpture in the Centrum is going & they will have acrobatic entertainment there instead.:eek: BUMMER!!! Really liked that sculpture. We were on the Jewel and they used the Centrum as an entertainment venue and it changed the entire feel of the Centrum from a nice place to sit and talk with a drink, or watch the ocean, to a loud crowded area with really bad site lines for the entertainment and really no seating for watching a show. Really bad idea.

Conference rooms & Moonlight Bay Lounge to bacome Specialty Resturants incl Chops. I expected this. THe Moonlight Bay was seldom used on our last couple cruises on Rhapsody and it would be a great location for Chops! Yum. Big Plus.

Conference rooms to move to Shall We Dance Lounge. Aft section of Shall we Dance to become Diamond Lounge. ??? Can't see this. Especially with Moonlight Bay being converted. It is the only lounge big enough for many of the current acticities that are not suited to the Main Theater. I expected the Diamond Lounge to be in the upper area of the Viking Crown. The Concierge lounge could easily be worked into the space in the Moonlight Bay along with Chops. Conference rooms to take the rest Shall We Dance? Hope not!!

They are currently wiring for WIFI in the cabins. Good - Hope they will have the iPads.

Thanks for the info we are looking to book another trip on Rhapsody in March for the 2013 Alaska season. I will be sure to watch out for the cabin number changes.

We're in Darwin today & so I'm online again, briefly.

 

Yesterday we took the all access behind the scenes tour. In the crew only area there was a notice board about drydock. I took some photos but I can't upload them so here is what it said:

 

SO WHAT'S NEW & WHERE IS IT GOING

What website are you on?

Australia, US or other country? I can't see any changes to deck 8 on the Australian or US websites?

I went in through US site - Crown and Anchor - Ships - Rhapsody - Deck Plans.

At that time selection still showed old plans -- BUT now selection plans are also updated -

new stateroom numbers on deck 8 - new outside cabins are showing on 7&8 - but cannot book the new ones yet - as of this minute - work in process -

That's disappointing, looks like they are making it more like Radiance. Squeezing lots of things in and taking away public spaces and light.

Definitely taking away public spaces. They need to put in more options on the ship and generate more revenue!

 

Personally, I look forward to these changes on the Vision class ships.

 

I've sailed on the Legend. Many of the public spaces were woefully under-utilised.

My dead centre aft cabin 8094 is now located on the side ... It also is not coded with a sofa bed so I have my fingers crossed that they fix it up and I am allocated 8102 as per the new deck plan which is the new cabin number!!!!!!

 

Will definitely be calling my TA first thing Monday morning to get my cabin back.

when I enter through Crown and Anchor, it is there - four oceanview cabins have been added midship each side (replacing Explorer Lounge and Crown and Anchor Study on Deck Eight and and the same arrangement on Deck Seven where the library and card room were.

Looks as though this pushed all numbers over by four and I cannot imagine that they won't adjust locations back to the originally selected spots or there'd be a lot of squealing -

Thanks. I see the aft JS is indeed 8096. I just boarded Voyager 20 minutes ago. I think I'll try to see the Loyalty Ambassador and see if he or she knows whether our cabin number will change!
