C-LAD Posted January 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2012 We plan on driving to Port Everglades in several weeks for a cruise and plan to leave our car in one of the port's parking garages. Noticed at times some of the ships depart from one berth only to return to another which is remote from the garage where our car is located. Ex: Berth #2 vs. #21. Does the port supply some means of travel between the garages or is it necessary/convenient to walk or take a cab? If they provide a "shuttle" where do they depart from and how available are they when several ships arrive at the same time? Thank you

Thank you Princess provides the shuttle....it is too far to walk most of the time. Sometimes, I have just grabbed a cab to the car park, got the car, and drove back to pick up DW who was waiting curbside with the bags.

Grego Posted January 4, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2012 If you don't want the hassle of schlepping your luggage around you might try what we do. Check to see which Princess ships are in port those two days. Usually there is only two and if yours is the larger of the two she might be at pier 2 for both days. You can check which ships are in on Cruise Cal. The other thing we always do is to call the Harbormaster a few days before embarkation and ask where our ship will be both days and they will tell you. If you are fortunate enough to have the same pier for both days then the decision is easy. If she is returning to a different pier location, we park the car there after dropping off the luggage and then either take a shuttle or cab back to the embarkation location. This way you are right where your vehicle is when you return and your porter will take the luggage to where you are parked - for a nice tip - but it's worth it. katisdale Posted January 4, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2012 We have sailed from Pier 21 and returned to Pier 2. Princess provided shuttles that were lined up and ready to go. It probably added a max of 15 minutes to our departure time.
WVBill Posted January 4, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2012 Good information here. This will be our first trip out of FLL We plan to park in the parking garage at the port vice using ParkNGo so the car will be in a covered spot out of the hot sun for the week. Also, the chances appear to be 50/50 that we'll depart and arrive at the same terminal so NO shuttles..
WVBill Posted January 5, 2012 #7 Share Posted January 5, 2012 Follow-up question. Are there usually plenty of spaces available in the parking garage?
Grego Posted January 5, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 5, 2012 Follow-up question. Are there usually plenty of spaces available in the parking garage? Good decision. Usually plenty of parking. We normally park on level 3 and there are always spots. (Our car requests that we park facing the ship - I know I don't get it either, but we try to keep him happy and he keeps us safe..;) ) If you haven't done this parking thing before then what we do is drop of the luggage first, tipping the porter of course, then we park the car. On dreaded departure day we find a porter in the baggage area and show him we are providing a generous tip ($20) for taking the luggage up to the car. This way we don't have to touch the luggage coming or going.
