KruzPrincess Posted February 11, 2012 #29 Share Posted February 11, 2012 Thanks for the live report. Someone currently on the Emerald confirmed that that room service will deliver food from the MDR menu. Can you check to see if this is available on the Sapphire. Thanks. Hope you have a great time. Grappagourmet Posted February 11, 2012 #30 Share Posted February 11, 2012 Disappointed about Vines. It would be a selling point for us. We do like pizza though. It is free? OMG, they sacrificed the best part of the ship! We've made the TA Venice to Rio, last Dec., aboard the Star Princess, and we showed up at Vines every single day, for wine and tapas/sushis, before dinner. Bad bad news. We will be aboard the Sapphire next March, 10 (same cruise).
WINEMANVISALIA Posted February 12, 2012 #31 Share Posted February 12, 2012 SO IN 2 WEEKS EXACTLY WE WILL ORDER 007 MARTINI AT CROONER BAR AND HOPE STAFF STILL DOES DANCE...LIKE THIS?>>> *PLEASE TELL ME THEY STILL DO THIS?! OMG, they sacrificed the best part of the ship! KINGSFAN1 Posted February 12, 2012 #32 Share Posted February 12, 2012 We will be on the Sapphire in two weeks also, hope they still have the casino. First time for the Sapphire, sailed on the Golden Nov 2010 to Hawaii, had a great time. Martini bar sounds good, it was on the Golden. See you there
mringenoldus Posted February 12, 2012 #33 Share Posted February 12, 2012 From your blog, I can see you don't use the casino - but if possible, could you see if they have replaced the old, tired, boring slots with the newer types of games? Thank you!
brickgirl Posted February 12, 2012 #34 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Is the group Cool Company still on the Sapphire? There are 2 girls from Argentina who sing. They play up at the pool and sometimes in Explorer. They were not very good and was just wondering if they terminated their contract while the ship was in dry dock. An assistant CD commented to us one night that they were to get better or they would be gone. We were on the Hawaii trip Nov 26 - Dec 10. Thanks. Crooners is really nice. If you have to have snacks with your wine, there is the International Cafe, a few feet away from Vines. Hopefully, you will not have to suffer too much! Rare abbydancer2003 Posted February 13, 2012 Author #37 Share Posted February 13, 2012 Hi, Here's a couple of answers - I was told by the Vines staff that people bring food over from the IC to eat. I haven't yet looked at the wine list. Cool Company is gone. The band Indigo plays in Explorers, and they are great - we dance ballroom, and our strength is smooth (tango, waltz, foxtrot, quickstep Viennese Waltz) and we do mostly club dances in Explorers because they are so good. Ocean's Quartet is in the Wheelhouse. They're OK, not as a good as some we've had but certainly better than some others. I'll go check on the milk. Since I don't use the casino, I don't know how to tell if the slots are new. If you can give me a hint, I'll try to stop by when it's not busy, or I'll ask someone. I'll keep an eye out for dancing staff at Crooners. (I don't think I can watch the video as the internet is too slow. Let me know what I missed, and there will probably be a blog post or two late tonight.

San Diego Ellie Posted February 13, 2012 #44 Share Posted February 13, 2012 We were on Golden for the early December Hawaii cruise, and I loved all the Hawaiian music and the fact that so many of us wore island type flowered clothing during the actual time on the islands and after. I know that the same duo that does all the Hawaiian activities is not on Sapphire, but how about Hawaian music and dress? We would love to do Sapphire with her wide promenade deck, but the Hawaiian music and dress are lots of fun. Do they have this on Sapphire? Thanks for any info. Rare abbydancer2003 Posted February 15, 2012 Author #45 Share Posted February 15, 2012 Hi, I haven't heard anything either way about easy check, but will let you know if I do. There are Hawaiian activities, music and dress on the ship. They are also playing a lot of Hawaii movies. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Also, the CD is David Cole, and he's very good at the Hawaiian stuff. Blog is now up through Honolulu. http://www.abbydancer2003.blogspot. com And, while this will be in the blog when I do today's entry, we did get an indirect shout out from one of the featured entertainers. Linda Gentille, a pianist who does a fun show, is on the ship this week (I think it's only this week). In a previous job, I worked with her husband. I contacted her through him, and talked to her (We're having lunch on Friday). She was joking about her husband in the show, and then said "I better be careful, he's got a couple of friends on board". I thought it was cool

Working 2 Cruise Posted February 15, 2012 #47 Share Posted February 15, 2012 Question: Do they change the time everyday when they to/from Hawaii? You will have three time changes. Because of daylight savings time, we have experienced only two time changes. They all are before you arrive in Hawaii.
San Diego Ellie Posted February 16, 2012 #48 Share Posted February 16, 2012 Thanks so much, Abby, for answering my question about Hawaiian music, dress, etc. I will stick to my booking on the Sapphire, as it sounds much like the Golden now, and I love the idea of the wide promenade. patmama Posted February 17, 2012 #49 Share Posted February 17, 2012 I am enjoying reading your blog and looking at the question/answer section of the boards. My husband and I will be on the March 10 Sapphire Princess to Hawaii. We can't hardly wait!! We are with Mary Lou's tours in Hilo, Ship tours to Pearl Harbor and Germaine's Luau. Ship's tour in Maui and Alex's tours in Kauai. We are also doing the whale watching in Maui(not through the ship). I am really hoping that the Pacific is calmer on our trip. Look forward to meeting some of you. Great crusing to all !!
