carncruiser1964 Posted April 12, 2012 Author #276 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I really enjoyed your review! Also... did I read correctly they no longer use the plastic hurricane take home glasses? They use regular glass? Well that's what they told us on this cruise. But you know how that goes...they say it is fleet wide, but really it is not. So not really sure, we'll find out for sure in June.
carncruiser1964 Posted April 12, 2012 Author #277 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I'm thinking that 2:30am was closer cause we practically closed the casino for the most part. .... and this was my first time gambling/playing at a casino ever. I usually drink the free drinks and he plays but with no free drinks... I guess I had to do something else besides standing there. Funny when I had a drink or 2 and said... 'Luck be a fabulously generous lady tonight' then the dealer said, 'if you don't place a bet, luck will be a no body'. I of course laughed incredibly hard. He was better than the comedian at Punchliner that night. Hubby will be happy that he was correct - damn! OMG, we had so much fun with you both. We really need to get together again. Your laugh is so beautiful, hearty and contagious! I could just be sitting at work and think about some of things that happened and just start laughing out loud. carncruiser1964 Posted April 12, 2012 Author #278 Share Posted April 12, 2012 I guess I should write a review. If nothing else... our Dining room experience with the "musical tables game" each night will rate a 10 in the funny bone - how could this happen in a matter of 7 days laughter arena. Our dining experience is usually what you experienced. I guess we just got dudds this time

Sounds like a gret trip. Good luck with quitting smoking..as a smoker I know it is hard but you can do it. We are counting down to our short 4 day cruise in June. :D Now this made me really laugh!! :D

EmmasNana Posted April 13, 2012 #283 Share Posted April 13, 2012 At the burrito bar, do you know if the chicken was all white chicken breast meat? Loved you review btw, we will be doing a b2b in December. Can you expand a little more on the turtles, turtles and more turtles excursion. Do you think this would be good for kids age 4 - 10? Is there a place to sit with shade at the area where you can snorkle?

Is there a place to sit with shade at the area where you can snorkle? I can't say for sure that the chicken was all white meat, but it looked that way to me. The Turtle excursion would be very good for teens. They have loungers with a covered area right by the area that you snorkel in. However, please keep in mind that the snorkel area is really like a pond. It is in no way the ocean so if that's what you are wanting, you may want to check out other excursions. There is also a beach area with a slide and fun stuff for the kids. We thought it was good for the price, but we wouldn't do it again. Hope that helps. I no longer recommend the Turtle Farm to friends and family after finding out that rather than it being a conservation effort it's largely a turtle hatching operation and that most of the turtles are processed and sold to restaurants. I was told that less than 5% of the turtles are released back into the ocean. Current prices for turtle meat is $29.99 per pound and up. I notice that the description of the excursions is no longer eluding to a conservation effort.
sharecruises Posted April 16, 2012 #288 Share Posted April 16, 2012 Great review and pictures, love your "coordinated" outfits I really loved the Liberty, still think it is prettiest Carnival ship I look forward to trying the 2.0 stuff on Glory this fall Seems like you had a good cruise but could have been better IF the room steward/waiters were more personable That is weird to not introduce themselves in the dining room if you are on fixed seating??? Are they that overwhelmed...or is it a morale problem on that ship or?? Hey I am NOT one to try to be "BFF" with the staff but it is nice to meet the steward and know the name of your waiter and assistant  Good luck and congrats on quitting smoking....just think of all the money you save - MORE Cruises haha

Never2Late2Cruise Posted April 17, 2012 #290 Share Posted April 17, 2012 Final thoughts – We had a fantastic cruise but found the layout of this class of ship a bit confusing. We were very disappointed that we never once saw or met our room steward and none of the servers (MDR & Steakhouse) introduced themselves to us. We love getting to know our servers and always try to involve ourselves with the dancing but this time we didn’t have that feeling so the dinners that we did go to were very quick. Yes, it was our choice to have quick dinners, but we just didn’t get the normal friendly feeling. With the exception of some servers, dealers & pitbosses in the casino, we found most of the staff did not say hi as you passed them and they seemed to be in a hurry all the time. It seemed that getting their job done was more important than the old fashioned customer service. A little background info- I have a friend that just booked a cruise on the Carnival Liberty sailing next month. I read your review to get some background info on the ship and its secrets for him. My DW and myself straddle both sides of 60 and we started cruising a few years ago (nowhere near your number of cruises). From our signature you see we like Royal Carribean and will be trying Celebrity to Alaska. All the items you list are just the opposite of what we have experienced in the past, and can understand that you found it lacking on this cruise. There is one thing that was on your cruise that unfortunately if our cruising preferences remain the same that we will miss, and that is the pleasure of meeting you and your spouse. You are a CLASSY down to earth couple, whose upbeat, roll with the punches attitude is great. Thank you again for a most enjoyable review. gapearl Posted April 17, 2012 #291 Share Posted April 17, 2012 Awesome review! I thought you guys looked very nice each night for dinner. Like you, I always dress up for the MDR. Bummer you were awakened so early every morning. I also met scgamecock on my Valor cruise. He's a cool guy, isn't he? I wonder how much did that guy in Roatan have to drink before he jumped into the water? Congratulations on quitting smoking! Ok, I'm done rambling. ;) Your review has me itching to book another cruise!
Cork-dork Posted April 17, 2012 #292 Share Posted April 17, 2012 · Every time we go on a cruise, I see people with cowboy hats and always look at them and try them on but every time I do Hubby says it’s just not me. In the stores right on the pier I found this really cool Corona hat and thought that was it, I was going to buy it…until I saw the price tag…$41! Ok, I guess a picture of the hat will have to do. Although, I may change my mind and buy it in June  $42?! For a hat that's vendor swag from a beer distributor?! Check online. A quick Google came up with: http://www.thegreatstateofbeer.com/Corona-Extra-Cowboy-Hat.html You might also want to talk to your local Corona distributor (differs depending on where in FL you are, but in Collier County it's Coastal Beverage, IIRC. It'll probably be the local Budweiser distributor) and ask them about hats. Most vendor swag is viewed as "free advertising" in their book, so they may be able to find you one. Or, if you're on good terms with your local liquor store, they may be able to find one for you :)

We just have noticed the special customer service touch going downhill on the last few cruises. That's just our opinion from our experience. Others may feel otherwise. We have a great time no matter what because we are together and that's all that matters.
