Western liberty review march 24, 2012 with a great friendship formed

Carncruiser...

Another Floridian here! Sarasota to be exact..

First of all..I truly enjoyed both your Legend review..and that led me to read your Liberty review..(I admit to just skimming over the last few pages of posts tonight cause DH thinks I'm nuts for sitting in my office all night)

We're going on the Legend in December ( so excited!!!) and while we've cruised her before we haven't since CCL instituted their new policy on smoking...

I was disappointed to read that you HAVE to be sitting and playing to smoke in the casino..DH and I both smoke and part of our cruise routine is to go to the casino after dinner...He would enjoy watching me play slots for awhile while we had our after dinner cig..then he'd wander off to his table games.

We, like you, spend a great deal of time in the casino and will be disappointed if the smoking areas are too restricted.

Congratulations on quitting btw...and just as a side note...we had the opposite experience with Chantix...I never tried it but DH took it and it worked... but he had such mood swings and depression he was a totally different person...it was MONTHS before he felt normal again..and of course he started smoking again..but I'd rather have the DH I know than some stranger who either slept or sat around on the verge of tears all the time!

Anyway..it's late and I'm sorry to ramble but I wanted to know if by any chance you remember what slot areas were the smoking ones on the Legend.?..I know that was two cruises ago for you now but I had favorite areas and games the last time we were on her and I hope I won't be disappointed.

Also..what other areas of the Legend were your favorites to sit outside and smoke?

Thanks..Great reviews..

Oh and one more thing...we like to dress for dinner too!

As far as the layout of the casino, I'd have to go back over the review with the pictures. However, we will be going again on the Legend in September so I will take more pictures in the casino. Where were you specifically looking for?

We would never even consider Chatix as we have heard too many bad things about it. The real test will be this cruise coming up next week. We booked the Sensation the other day last minute as a quick getaway.

We actually enjoyed sitting on the Lido deck at a table or one deck up. Generally we would only smoke after we had something to eat, but for the most part we did most of our smoking on our balcony or in the casino.

Glad you enjoyed the reviews.

Brilliant review! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts.

I swear, it seems like we have met before. Maybe it's just that I have read one of your reviews before and seen your profile pic. You and DH sound like our kind of people, especially if 1964 is your birth year - we are probably the same age too. You seem to be really fun folks.

The Liberty is one of my fave CCL ships because of all of the Venetian glass and chandeliers. I think they are just beautiful. With all of the CCL cruises under your belt, it seems as though you were disappointed with the lack of the minor touches that you used to receive from the CCL staff. I understand completely - we are Plat. as well and when I am not even recognized or addressed as such with at least "welcome back Crystal" - I'm disappointed as well. DH and I tried ATD for the first time last summer and loved the convenience of it; but missed the interaction with our waitstaff. Then we cruised in January and went back to assigned dining only to be disappointed again because the waitstaff never introduced themselves to us. I often wonder if it is because they might be "new" and get nervous when they find out that we are Plat. and know what to expect. Hmmm? Just a thought..........

I think that you dress for dinner if fabulous - y'all look great. We always dress for dinner as well and enjoy it, even though I do dress for work everyday; but DH does not.

I wanted to go back on the Liberty; but after the smoking regulations that come with 2.0 - I thought that I wouldn't like NOT being able to smoke on Lido; but as it looks, you can smoke on the second level (deck 10). Where exactly is that smoking area located in reference to the whale tail or jumbo screen? We typically get a lounger on that level anyway because it's cooler with the breeze. It would be great to be able to lay in a lounger in the general area of the smoking area and not have to move to have a cig.

BTW, I love to smoke; but also love the vapor. Keep up the good work - the vape is doing wonders for my habit and helped me to cut down quite a bit. If you haven't chosen which system to use, I highly recommend the Totally T Tornado Tank. check out wwwdottotallywickeddotcom. I went through two or three different other brands and this is my favorite.

Was there a Red Frog Pub on board and what are your thoughts on it? Food? Service? Can you smoke?

How about bands? We are not much to go to the shows anymore because we have seen them so many times; but we do enjoy a good dance band and of course, our time in the casino as well. I typically just do slots; but DH loves the blackjack table. This 3 card poker seems to be fun. Maybe we'll try it next time.

Best of Luck to you and your future travels. Maybe someday we will sail the same vessel and meet up on a roll call. :D

Sorry it took me a few days to reply. I got a slap on the wrist for spending so much time on CC at work (even though it has never affected my job performance and everyone else is on some other internet site). But anyway, Hubby has not smoked in two weeks. I, on the other hand, have been going between the e-cig and regular smokes. If we both quit cold turkey, we'd probably kill each other

As far as smoking on the Liberty, we only smoked in the small designated area on the 10th deck and then went back to our loungers. We never really noticed anyone smoking while on the loungers, so not really sure if you can.

The Pub is on the Lido deck right near the main pool. We never spent any time there so can't really comment on that. I can say that you cannot smoke there or anywhere else on the Lido.

We also don't go to too many shows anymore because they are all the same. However, the band that plays outside of the casino was pretty good and got alot of people dancing. They even had one night where they taught you the thriller dance. I wanted to do it but was having too much fun with our new friends Linda and Frank :D

We too, enjoy smoking but with the recent passing of my mom and someone else that we know very well finding out they have lung cancer, it has made us realize how bad it is and we just have to learn to live without it. I'm hoping to be smoke free within the next few weeks.

Thanks so much for your compliments and I too hope we meet someday on a cruise. I'm sure we'd have a great time.

Thank you so much. Our daughter has gone on several cruises with us (see the reviews from the Inspiration and the Sensation). She was also on the cruise with us when we got married on the Spirit 9 years ago.

You should go and make it a family cruise.

Have a fabulous time if you do go.

Hi. OMG your review is soooo helpful as my boyfriend and I are taking our first cruise together. this is my second his second cruise as well so it really helped alot!

I noticed on the fun times the Chef's Table was mentioned. Do you happen to know what day/port they offered the Chef's Table? We made a reservations for steakhouse after Belize (our cruise on LIberty is Saturday,August 25th) and made reservations for the Chef't Table but they never gave me an exact date on the Chef's Table. I think they dont do the Chef's Table on any of the formal / elegant nights.

Sorry, I have no information on the Chef's Table as we did not do that. You should be able to send John Heald a message on FB and ask him. He will be able to tell you. Enjoy your cruise and tell us about the Chef's Table. Maybe we will do that on an upcoming cruise.

We did the Chef's Table on our last cruise on the Miracle. From our experience and everything I have read on the Chef's Table prior to our cruise, you won't know what day it will be held until you get on board and receive your invitation. Ours was on the 3rd day. As far as I know they do not have it on formal nights. Sometimes they have 2 depending on if they have a lot of interest. Be sure to confirm your reservation when you get on board....another couple from our roll call had done theirs long before we did ours, but they didn't have any record of it. They were told if they confirmed it when they came on board they still would have had room, but did not have room when they called to ask about it a day or 2 later. We confirmed ours as soon as we got to our room, even though our invitations weren't there yet.

I hope this helps!

We made our way to the escalator and they started calling Zone 1. Everyone started merging together and rushing to the escalator. It really was a bit ridiculous especially since it was only 10:50am! We have never boarded a ship before 11:30 – with the exception of when we got married on the Spirit. When we got to the top of the escalators we noticed right away that there was no one there to take the embarkation pictures. We were VERY disappointed as this is the one picture that we always buy. The employees were telling everyone to keep moving and directing us to the ship. More on this later.

Thanks, I'm actually working on a review from our recent Dream cruise. Yankee gear is traditional embarkation dress for us lol. I don't know about that wildcard cuz the games are winding down and it's not looking too good. But what do you expect with all of the injuries this year. I'm just sad that this is Moe's last year and not the year I'm sure he was hoping for.

I see you have been on the Conquest many times. We are looking at sailing her in March. Would love to see your pics and hear your thoughts.

I understand about wildcard..be nice to only be down by 1 game and sweep rays. Hoping mariano plays on 9/28 when I go to minute maid. Heard the astros honor Mo on 9/29 with Clemens doing the presentation.
