We're onboard MSC's Divina. What do you want to know?

Hi - I've just booked a cruise on MSC Divina but now I'm a bit worried about what the entertainment will be like. I'm used to cruises with popular music that we all know and love and can sing along to, something a bit up-beat. I'm worried that this is all going to be a bit too classical/jazz/easy listening and that I'll get bored. Can't find much information on the style of music on the internet. Just looking for a bit of reassurance. Many thanks.

We have sailed on the Poesia with a duo that is on the Divina........don't know when u are sailing or if they will still be there but they are fantastic and play/sing everything from Johnny Cash and the Beatles to Avita and all are wonderful.............they are "Ameritalian," Sonia and Greg...............guarantee if they are on board u will love them..............if so, tell them Barbara and Kelvin sent u ;*)

Hi,

We are booked to for 31st Jan 2013 on the MSC Divina from Barcelona for our honeymoon.

We have never been on a cruise before, so any information on what to expect would be helpful. We have booked all inclusive for the drinks. Does anyone know how much the F1 simulator costs and what the casino is like. My hubby to be likes to play poker, any information on this would be really helpful.

Many thanks,

Hi

for a really good review of a cruise on Divina, just 3 weeks ago, try the link. it's packed with lots of info about the ship but it was a different itinerary to yours. I sail on her in 2 days time so may be able to add to the other review.

It mentions the cost of the F1 simulator as 10 euros

It appears that some of the cabins on deck 9 (Minerva) are adjoining. Could anyone verify and provide information on those?

Has anyone has experience with the children's program(s) on the Divina (kids ages 8, 11 & 15)?

Bar prices, I can only quote the prices in euros.

Most cocktails are euro 6.25 ($8.00)

Mixed drinks eg rum & coke, G&T, Whiskey and coke are euro 6.25 ($8.00)

Beers are euro 4.50 ($5.75) for 330 ml or euro 4.90 ($6.30) for 500 ml

Wine by the glass is around euro 4.50 - 5.50

They add on 15% for gratuities to any drink you purchase

If you want any other prices please just ask for them by name and I'll see if there are available and if so how much

The pricing structure on US sailings is lower than in Europe but I can't give you the prices as it's been several years since I've cruised in the US. Used to be if a drink was €6 in Europe it would be $6 in the US.

In another few weeks, you'll start getting posts and reviews from people cruising the Caribbean this year and should be able to get answers to your question.

I nearly always cruise solo but don't like activities much. I prefer to go to the spa, read my kindle by the pool or listen to music. They don't do anything specific for solos usually. Occasionally they will have a meet up. Went to 2 but they didn't work, too many different languages. Might be better on a US sailing where there will be a higher percentage of English speaking passengers. They have pool games, bingo and stuff like that. The quizzes can be fun and the bingo is a hoot in 5 languages.

In the evening they have what I think of te daft stuff in one of he main lounges, the evening show and a huge selection of bars and lounges with differing atmosphere and different style of live music.

Eating in the MDR at breakfast or lunch (in my opinion) is not only better than te buffet - more peaceful and calm asnd better food- butbis a good opportunity to meet and talk to other passengers.

MSC works for me as a solo European who likes to mostly keep myself to myself and just chill out and relax. I don't think it is as action and activity packed as some cruise lines, but they are usually pretty port intensive anyway. I'm sure that on a ship the size of the Divina, you'll not run out of things to do

I would like to know what the cabins are like onboard

Looking forward to your reply :)

We had a premium balcony in June this year on the Divina and found it more spacious than both Carnival and P&O

Just came back from a week on the Norwegian Pearl. Very surprised how nice it was. The Thermal spa area was fantastic with separate facilities for men and women. Sailing on the Divina over Christmas, what is the layout of the Aurea Spa area and is the area unisex?

Hubby is into working out with weights and machines. Would like to know if there is a decent selection on the Divina.

Also, any zumba classes for me?

Thanks

Barbara

We are considering a MSC Divina Caribbean cruise. Are there water slides for our kids (ages 11 & 9)? What is the music and entertainment like on the ship? Night clubs? I've heard the ship is beautiful, but not sure that it will suit our needs. We just sailed the Carnival Breeze in Feb and LOVED it.

I am sailing the MSC Divina on December 7, 2013 for the short getaway... this is my first time sailing this line... maybe u should try the short getaway and see how u like it.....rather than book a 7 night cruise, and find out that the cruise didn't suit your needs... Ive heard from different people, that MSC is more European cusine.... entertainment is excellent.... food is good.... but a different flair than the cruise ships that you are use to.... but i am giving it a try.... with an open mind....again i am sailing solo...so it is kind of different...but for the price you cannot go wrong...and it is a brand new ship.... as i said at the beginning....try out the short getaway on december 7th....for 3 nights....goes to nassau...and their private beach island.... see how you like it..... i am also sailing the MSC Divina on March 15, 2014 for the 7ngt eastern caribbean.....also an answer to your other question if the ship has waterslides.....yes they do.....and i believe a water park... so the kids will be entertained.... only thing is that when they make announcements it will be in 5 different languages... which doesnt bother me... i would think that the entertainment will be good, and have the usual caribean parties on deck etc...also has a big movie screen on the pool deck.... it looks like a gorgeous ship....what u can do is google photos of the MSC Divina.....you can view all the photos of the ship....... Hope to see u onboard.....:)

I am sailing on the Divina in September from Istanbul as a solo guest. I am not sure whether to purchase the drinks premium drinks package. I am estimating I will have at least four alcoholic drinks a day, pre dinner, after dinner and wine during dinner. Water and hot drinks drinks during the day. With you on board knowledge would you advise this. Many thanks

This thread was started 15 months old so unlikely the OP is going to be around to answer questions.

First of all, welcome to CC!

I certainly would not buy Allegrissimo premium with what you say you want to drink. The standard Allegrissimo at almost half the cost will cover all of what you've listed

As AmoMondo says you should be fine with the classic package, unless there's something on the premium that you MUST have.

Hello from the Bay of Biscay -- onboard MSC's new Divina. We boarded yesterday at the shipyard (it's the first time I've ever cruised from a shipyard, pretty cool) at St. Nazaire and are heading south to stops in Lisbon, Cadiz for Seville, and Gibraltar before we hop off.

What can I tell you about the ship? Happy to answer any questions and post impressions from time to time (we're also chronicling the trip on Facebook, Twitter, and on our blog so stay tuned).
