Vancouver - Gaslight District Recommendations

With a little time to stroll the area, what recommendations for restaurants, pubs, shoping, etc in the Gaslight District would you recommend? If other "don't miss" options are close to Canada Place, please mention those as well.

Little in the way of tourist attractions within walking distance. This is a shopping and business area within walking distance. Gastown is always interesting to wander around. I like the Old Spaghetti Factory when I'm down there but if you don't like pasta and sourdough bread then skip it. http://www.oldspaghettifactory.ca/

Just keep wandering around until you find a restaurant or pub that looks good to you. There are plenty. Or walk up to Robson Street, a few blocks away. Lot of boutiques and eating places there.

It's been a few years but after exploring Gastown we stopped for a beer and dinner at Steamworks Brewing Company. Food and beer were very good at the time although it was the outside seating that brought us in after a lot of walking on a warm day.

Gastown! Thanks scottbee...

Some other good dining spots in Gastown are the Water Street Café and Al Porto. A couple of shops worth visiting are Canadian Maple Delights, Rogers Chocolates, Hudson Trading, Hill's Indian Art, as well as a couple of cigar shops that carry (dare I say) Cuban Cigars. Don't forget the obligatory photo in front of the Steam Clock and the statue of Gassy Jack. While not really part of Gastown a lot of people do enjoy going up to the Vancouver Lookout which is part of Harbour Centre.

One of the bellboys at Pan Pacific recommended Rogue, which is only a few blocks from Canada Place. It was kind of a young trendy looking place but had the best hamburgers we have ever had! Price wasn't too bad, comparatively.

Rogue is in the Waterfront Station complex (where the subway comes in from the airport), a couple of blocks east of Canada Place itself. It is also owned by the same people who own Steamworks, which is another ½ block east.
