I am so excxited to see this review. We are on the legend in the aft wrap

on the 7th floor in Jan. I switched the Valor to the legend for a better

room and it was $ 100.00 cheaper. You guys looks so happy what a nice family!!

Thanks! You're going to love it!

SUNDAY, JUNE 17---Debarkation: The Legend arrives back in port later than any ship we’ve ever sailed before, so it was nice to get a little extra sleep before returning to reality.

We were zone 2, so we remained in our room until they called the last group of self-assist passengers for debarkation. At this point we grabbed an elevator before things got crazy, and headed down 2 floors. By the time we strolled into the atrium, they were preparing to announce zones 1 & 2, so everyone in the atrium was encouraged to get a head start and move towards the casino where the debarkation line begins.

AMAZINGLY FAST—Exactly 20 minutes after they called our zone, we were off the ship, through customs, in and out of a cab with all of our luggage, and sitting in our packed car (that had been valet parked) back at the Sheraton. It was just before 10 AM.

Since it was Father’s Day, we had decided to NOT spend the day in the car, but instead booked a room at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort on Clearwater Beach. Again I cashed in some points, so this night’s stay was only costing us $60. It was a great way to relax after the trip and to extend the vacation just one more day….

We had a great week aboard the Carnival Legend and would recommend the cruise to anyone!

That concludes our review. I know it was long on pictures and maybe short on details, so if you have any questions, just ask!

MomtoJJandJ -

This really might work! Thanks so much for seeing my post and posting this. Can you email it to me at agrant@dpp.us.com?

Once again!

thanks!

That's a great picture of the ship! The only one I had was posted back at #63.

Enjoy your cruise!

We enjoyed our day at West Bay last year very much. It was expensive, but I'm glad we did it. That said, I'm glad we stayed at Mahogany Bay this year. I would say it just depends on how much time you have in port. We were there all day on the Dream, but a 2:30 departure on Legend seemed too early to invest all that money again to go back to the beach we saw last year--especially when the drive is about 45 minutes each way.

Thank you - we are in port from 7:30 - 6:00pm. Decisions, Decisions.

Emc - I must ask more about Roatan. We are traveling on the Magic in a couple of weeks and we chose this cruise primarily because of the stop in Roatan (we've never been there) and because the Magic is the "new" ship AND close to home departure. In Roatan - everyone keeps saying to venture out to West Bay Beach instead of staying at MB. What are your thoughts?

I have checked into Bananarama - we are beach goers - NOT tour in a bus type folks. We really do not even like to snorkel; but we do like to be together on the beach and ENJOY!

I started a thread a while ago to Crewsweeper and Cap'n Dinghy; but never got a response. I think both of them have experience with Roatan and wanted their opinions.

Should we venture out? Should we book an excursion directly with Bananarama (and hope their transportation is NOT a bus that we have to wait to fill up) or should we just stay at MB and enjoy what is available there?

Any thoughts or info you might have would be so greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I am not the reviewer but I am going to chime in anyway with my opinion.

We have been to Roatan many times, even pre-MB. We started going to Tambayana Beach, when there was no one there, then each year it got more popular and more touristy.

We sailed Legend Jan 2012 and opted to stay at MB. This was our first visit to Roatan since MB was completed.

We opted to walk, of course we were off the ship early in the morning, and the walk was lovely, very tropical and great photo opportunities.

We walked all the way to the end of MB. There are numerous places to stop along the way, it is your choice. We were very please with our choice. The drinks and food were great, along with the service. The water was a bit chilly for us Floridians in January but once we were in all was good.

There is a dock at the end of the beach and you can walk out it and there are two ladders for access into the water, you can also swim from shore if you want, which I did as well. The snorkeling off the dock is fabulous.

MB I believe is owned by Carnival, it is well kept, clean and we felt since we were in port for a relatively short day it was well worth it over the West End. It is definitely a 30 minute bus ride each way to the West End and the beaches are no better in my opinion.

We hit the shops on the way back to the ship, bought nothing, got a chuckle out of seeing the crew sitting in one spot utilizing internet outside.

All in all a great day in Roatan and we look forward to visiting MB again and again.

Great review and pictures.

Good looking family!

One question, how was the vibration in your room?

Our first sailing on Legend we were in an aft balcony room on deck 4 right in the middle of the aft and the vibration was horrible, we could not even sleep.

2nd cruise on Legend we opted for a regular balcony on Empress and it was great.

However that 4228 sure looks tempting, my honey would probably never leave that balcony!

Thanks.

Susan

Vibration wasn't bad to us, but it's never really bothered us. We did notice it most the night between Roatan and Grand Cayman when the ship was moving faster to get to GC by 10 AM. Overall, I thought there was very little motion that we felt. Our daughter is a very light sleeper and had never been in the aft before. She was next door in 4230 and never complained about the vibration.

Thank you for the fantastic review. We are sailing the Dream in a little less than 5 weeks so I am eating up all current reviews, regardless of the ship.

We sailed Dream last summer and LOVED it. Have a great cruise!

We leave July 29th on the legend. We can't wait!! Thank you so much for a great review. Your pictures are absolutely gorgeous. Would you mind telling me the make and model of your camera? I am currently looking for a good camera for the cruise. I need something that is going to be easy to use though!

Thanks! Camera is just a point-and-shoot: Nikon Coolpix S8100. I bought it last year at Costco for under $200. I know they've come out with a newer model since.

Does the chairlift cost anything to ride? I will be there in Nov on Glory, I will also have a aft balcony.

Unfortunately, yes. It was $11 or $12 each for unlimited use all day. I thought that was a bit much, but my wife really wanted to ride it for the view. I was kind of surprised by how many people actually spent the money to ride it.
