Breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill

DH & I love breakfast in the Pinnacle. We agree with those who say it's one of the best suite perks. We're there every morning we can, and if we have an early shorex we order room service for an early time.

DH says it best: that breakfast in the Pinnacle is "such a civilized way to start the day".

Hi cp556. Remember us?;) I agree with this post 100%.;)

Just booked a Deluxe Verandah Suite on the Nieuw Amsterdam. What is breakfast like in the Pinnacle Grill? How does it compare with breakfast at Sabatini's on Princess?

Personally, I think Princess wins on this perk. Sabatini's for breakfast was extra special. They seemed to have items on their breakfast menu not found on MDR menus. One day I ordered something from the MDR menu and they cheerfully handled the request. The room seemed even more empty - I've not counted, but maybe the Princess ship (Crown for me) had fewer suites than the Eurodam. Service was amazing in Sabatini's - we sat down, were offered Mimosas, a tray of beautiful baked goods was presented, orders taken and delicious, hot food was served. Almost every morning we had the same waitress and she was wonderful. As early risers, we often were the only guests in the room. Extra special.

On HAL, the Pinnacle was a more quiet spot for breakfast, but no special menu, no mimosas (although I suspect I could have ordered them for a price), and the wait staff varied from great to adequate. Still a good way to start the day, but not quite as special as Princess (IMO).

The comparison would be between breakfast in the main dining room and breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill.

Don't know about Sabatini's, but breakfast in the Pinnacle is great. you don't have to fight the lines and find a table at the buffet. ...

I found the main dining room breakfast a civilized way to start the day. Very few fellow diners early in the morning and what a menu!

Are you served fresh squeezed orange juice in the pinnacle grill?

Yes.

I don't drink orange juice but anyone who wants fresh squeezed is served it.

I also found the MDR breakfast to be quite enjoyable, especially on the smaller Maasdam which had plenty of small tables.

Even the Lido has fresh-squeezed orange juice. They had a machine out in the open that squeezed oranges right on location.

You should reguest the fresh squeezed orange juice in the Pinnacle. On some ships they already have several types of juices ready in glasses and it is just the canned orange juice when they do this.

Our experience in the MDR compared to the Pinnacle for breakfast - I'm sorry, there is no comparison. I swear we must decide to eat in the MDR when 90% of the ship decides it's breakfast time. We have waited over an hour for our bkfst meal there. In the Pinnacle we are usually one of maybe 4-5 couples max. Service with class ... and never a long wait. (Our experience - someone else, maybe wasn't so good :(.) If I was in a deluxe suite and had to pick between the Neptune Lounge and the Pinnacle Breakfast, there is no doubt DH and I would choose the Breakfast Perk. I should add we don't always book deluxe suites - at those times we usually breakfast in our room or in the Lido (where it is getting harder and harder to find a table in the mornings.)

The only passengers who can't eat in the MDR are the deluxe suite passengers, who will be sent to the Pinnacle for breakfast.

Since when are suite passengers required to eat in the Pinnacle, vs the dining room?

Ruth, On our last cruise about 6 months ago (Ryndam), we showed up for breakfast the first morning of the cruise for breakfast at the MDR. The maite D asked us for our cabin number, which he always does at every meal. When I gave him our suite number, he said we couldn't eat there, and had one of his waiters escort us to the Pinnacle. We liked the Pinnacle just fine, and never went back to the MDR at breakfast. Whether we were required to eat in the Pinnacle, or just strongly encouraged to do so, I can't say for sure.

Perhaps by encouraging suite passengers to eat breakfast in the PG, it will slightly lessen the crowd and time waiting for your food in the MDR? Our experience is that the PG could certainly serve many more for breakfast than they currently do, thereby justifing being open.

If extra staff is being assigned to the PG breakfast and very few diners are showing up, then they just might be redirecting suite passengers from the MDR to the PG for breakfast.

I'm not sure that is true of all ships.

I would question this as absolute as it is not information we have been told.

S7S, I know that is the case of the Oosterdam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam. I had ordered Kadota Figs in May on the Oosterdam that the waiter admitted he forgot. After about 10 minutes, I asked the Pinnacle Manager if he could find our waiter. He mentioned the female assistant was back in the MDR galley and would be back momentarily. The Pinnacle Manager said that the breakfast meals come from the MDR kitchen.

I was told this on the other ships as well. However, I've only been on the four Vista ships and the Signature ships. Not sure about the others.

I don't think that a suit passenger would be prevented from having breakfast in the MDR, especially if the suite passenger was traveling with and wanted to have breakfast with family non-suite passengers.

That's what I would think, too. But that's not what the post I questioned seemed to be saying. Just made me wonder if the poster misunderstood, or if the dining room attendant did, or if the poster merely misspoke.

Are the breakfast menus pretty similar on the ships?

As far as I've ever noticed it's the same breakfast menu on every ship, every day, every cruise. Maybe there's a special that got past me?

Now, the breakfast menu is quite extensive, and I can't imagine what might be missing. If there is something you want, and don't see it offered, try asking for it and see what happens.
