Nachi Cocom

Thanks, Island. I booked massages for me and my hubby for our cruise in Jan. Your comment reaffirms my decision.

I have been worried about Nachi as a choice for an excursion because people keep posting negative reviews on TA and on CC.

We have been to Nachi Cocom and look forward to being there again in 2 weeks. Here are some photos that will help you to see what the beach is like. It is fantastic! Some of the loungers that are over by the dock are on an angle, however, most are in a nice flat area.

I have also been to Paradise Beach and IMHO there is no comparison. If you want a quiet beach day, Nachi Cocom is your place. Paradise is more of a party type beach. Way more people and way more activities.

BTW-been to Nachi twice, once while on a cruise and once while staying on the island...it's that good.

Thanks for sharing your pictures. It really does look like a beautiful place to visit. I really think I'm going to go ahead and book this place. I mean if we don't like it, then we just won't return next year and do something different. I'm not a hard person to please at all, I was just worried that nothing could be as beautiful as Chankanaab. However, it's the Caribbean, I can't imagine too many places being that bad that it would spoil our day if you know what I mean. I will still be away from work, away from home, and away from the snow. :D

Ok, so next question...who and where do I book this.

You can book Nachi Cocom either thru Island Marketing or thru Nachi Cocom itself. The price is the same either way,we have been to Nachi 2 times and wille there again in December on our next cruise. We have booked them thru both sites and both were easy, you just pay the deposit using a credit card and then pay the remainder in cash when you arrive.

As I posted up previously, just book it through Nachi's website. Pay with paypal and credit card or bank account. You'll receive a confirmation email which you need to print out and bring with you when you visit Nachi along with the remaining cash you owe. I made it a point to bring the exact cash to avoid getting any change. Once you arrive they will ask for your confirmation email and remaining cash, give you arm bands, and escort you to your loungers.

**EDIT** Booking through another website isn't a BAD thing however the price is the same, what's the point? You're just adding a middle man for no reason.

I was just wondering because when reading the booking instructions on Nachi's site, it said that they would not refund your money if you have to cancel and if you don't show up, they will charge you the full amount too plus something about a $50 US charge to do so. That kind of makes me nervous. I have never dealt with a place that if you decide to cancel, they won't refund your money (given a proper notice). They will only refund in full if your ship does not book there. Most places we have visited will refund your money if you ask and they definitely don't charge you the full amount when you don't show up. I just thought maybe some of the other places you might book with have a better policy. Not that I plan on cancelling, but you just never know what "might" happen.

It is the same policy through Island Marketing.

Feb. will be our 4th time there. In our previous times there, we have never had a problem with service and the food has always been great. We cruise in Feb. and Sept. and the only difference we noticed was the one time we went in Sept. it was high tide and the water was really close to the chairs. Just less of a walk to get in. lol

We normally spend most of our day by the pool, but either way it's always a beautiful day.

They likely do that because they limit the number of people they allow into the place. If a group of 10 books and doesn't show up they lose out on a lot of money by them simply not showing up. I was a little thrown by this when I booked for our group of 4 as well. I just pulled the trigger and did it, the only other thing we wanted to do in Cozumel this time was look around port which we had plenty of time to do.

Honestly though, if you have your papal account setup with a credit card they can't charge you anything. They can send you a "bill" to paypal but you can dispute it and more than likely get it thrown out. Your deposit would be gone though.

No worries, you and anyone reading this thread will know more than 90% of the people there :D

That's true. That's for reminding me of this. I'm going to go ahead and book. :)

We love Nachi Cocom and Carlos, what wonderful memories your photos are bringing back...the last time we were there we observed a young man with his wife and two kids getting totally drunk (him not the kids!), we watched the staff very diplomatically help her pack all their stuff up and escort them to a cab. Seems like they not only knew how to handle the situation but also how to mix some drinks, although I think the hot day played into the issue.

Also the first time we were here there was a boat load of folks from a Carnival ship, nothing bad about Carnival, after we were signed in we were advised that most of those folks would be leaving shortly and it ended up there were about 4 couples total for the day....very quiet, great food and service. Highly recommend this for a beach day.

Can anyone advise or remember if you can pay in pesos and if it was worth it with the current exchange rates and how much it was

Excluding the amount prepaid on paypal in USD of course.

We always pay in U.S.D., never considered converting to Pesos....total is 55 U.S.D. minus the deposit via Paypal of 11 U.S.D. and that is each.

Don't bother changing money into pesos - dollars are accepted at Nachi and all over the island and you'll lose money making the exchange. Check the exchange rate before your cruise in case you go to a place off the tourist track that lists prices in pesos.

Good luck! :)

I bit the bullet and just booked Nachi. I hope it lives up to my expectations. I will come back in December with a full review. :)

I agree, I think you will have a great time...the only thing to remember is to take USD, in the past we have done the para sailing on one visit and had a massage on the beach another time, you need cash. Then of course there is the tipping and cab fare.

I look forward to your review on the Star, after all these photos and chat it looks like it's time to book a cruise!

Great! We'll be visiting Nachi next year with a 4yr old. Can't wait to see how your daughter likes it & what she did.
