Upgrade instead of OBC?

DD and I have an interior upper/lower (1A) on the Riviera deck booked for our January cruise on the Ecstasy. I just checked the prices and the price of a regular or porthole interior is now the same as our upper/lower room, so I think I can switch, right?

For the same price, we can switch to a porthole on Main or Riviera, a forward or aft interior (4B) on Main, or an interior (4B) midship on Riviera.

I've submitted price drops online, but do I call a PVP to switch rooms?

If it were you, which type of room would you switch to and why? (I'm thinking through ship movement, noise, and convenience.)

Slam dunk decision. Porthole cabin on the Main deck as far aft as possible. You move up 1 deck and you get the natural light with the portholes. As a bonus, you get two twin beds, so your DD does not have to climb up to a bunk. I would call a PVP to inquire about whether you can do it. If the price is the same, there would be no OBC involved, so moving to the porthole cabin on Main deck is an upgrade as far as I am concerned. Good luck.

Right. The title of my thread is sort of misleading, because I knew I wouldn't get any OBC since the price is the same. I just wasn't sure how it worked to do an upgrade instead.

Still welcoming opinions on whether or not to do a porthole. How's the movement and convenience factor? I've never been that far forward on a cruise. We've usually done midship.

You're not on one of the 100,000 ton ships, so the difference between being midship versus forward is not as great and the extra walking allows you to consume an extra drink or an extra dessert and not feel guilty. I have been at the front of the ship on a couple of my cruises and I did not feel the motion of the ocean that much more.
