You sound like so much fun. We spent a lot of time in the casino. Did you enter the slot tournament?

Do you mean our own slot pull or the one that the casino had? First one yes, latter one no.

I won a whopping $10 playing the electronic Black Jack. Wohoo.

We were on the port side, deck 6 forward. Our views were always of the port area and in my opinion that is the better side, especially for sail away. Y

I don't know how often is changes, but I do see allure docked on teh web cam in port Canaveral to the port side about once every few months. We were on the starboard side and docked facing the ports in St Thomas and St Martin. We were facing away from the port in Nassau, but they were testing life boats on one side that day.

So it might actually be the case on our cruise as well. Did they re-fuel in St Maarten? That might also be a factor on which way the ship is facing.

You will not know in advance then.

Great, there goes my credibility as an experienced Allurian...

That was such a fun review Sinny. I absolutely love your sense of humor. The two of you are a beautiful couple and look like you have lots of fun together.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

You're welcome.

We do have a lot of fun. Or at least I do :D

You live in one of the best cities in the world

My kids and I enjoyed reading it and seeing the pictures.

My hubby and I did the Oasis ship this past January and are excited to take the kids on Allure next August.

Thanks for taking the time to post this.

It was wonderful to read.

I think you just made thousands of dollars for RCCL on that Sea Lion excursion with your adorable pictures. I know I found the pictures irresistable and just booked it up! We've been shopping and on tours of all of the islands and we live by the beach, so I wasn't sure if we were going to do anything on the islands. Thank you!

Thanks so much for the awesome review and the pictures! I was really hoping that I would see some from the parade. We had friends on this cruise and I knew they were dressing up! I knew what they were going to be but I had not seen their costume yet. I see it now! They were the school bus! They traveled over 2400 miles to take that cruise and I totally agree with you.."You brought THAT in your luggage?!" They are such great people and they love to cruise over Halloween!!!:)

Are you serious? You brought THAT in your luggage?!

Thanks for the amazing review, this is one of a few I actually read all the way through. I prefer these reviews over the "Live" reviews with 100,000 posts.... Your sense of humour is exactly the same of mine and I actually laughed out loud many times.

No one has asked this, but what was the camera and lens you used? Some of the pictures are the best I've seen ad I was just wanted to know what camera settings you used for some of the photos.

Is there an email or something I can contact you on? Thanks for the great review

Thank You! We don't have kids ourselves but we end up doing stuff that they'd enjoy all the same. Or my hubby ends up, I plan them well in advance :D

You're welcome! I went dolphin swimming on the Oasis cruise and wouldn't have missed the sea lions for the world. It was worth every penny :) I hope your experience is just as wonderful as ours was.

YEY!! It was absolutely fabulous what they did so tell them their effort was greatly appreciated. Everyone who was standing close to me was totally blown away by that costume :)

Great review and pics! We're on the Oasis during Halloween next year and we appreciate the photos of the costumes.

Thank you! It is beyond words how amazing it was (especially for someone who doesn't celebrate Halloween at home).

Hiya! We have a Canon EOS 1100D and two lenses, EFS 18-55 mm and 75-300 mm. So nothing fancy but even with them we get really great shots.

I use the automatic settings (with/without flash) most of time and the ice skating and OceanAria photos were taken with Sports setting. Hubby uses the manual ones but he's done photography at work for years and knows it better than I do.

As my humble intention was to entertain (and become famous here on CC ;)) it's good to know I did a good job .

You can e-mail me at sinppu@gmail.com.

And Rick mate, hold on to the fence TIGHT.

We were greeted with a pretty sunrise!

Our flight left from MIA at 4pm and I had booked us the Everglades Boat Tour with an airport drop-off through RCCL.

The tour was really interesting and we learnt a lot what we call "useless facts" (they are useful only when making people feel intellectually inferior to us. We know a LOT useless facts and don't hesitate to use them).

Did you know that Everglades is not a swamp but a 100-mile long river?

IMG_8879.JPG

IMG_8900.JPG

If you see a reptile like this and it tries to attack you, it is a crocodile. If it runs away from you, it is an alligator. Crocodiles eat people, alligators don't (Bad, bad CSI for claiming the opposite!).

IMG_8884.JPG

They can't digest salt and that's why they might eat your furry friends but not you. They can outrun just about anyone (20-30 miles per hour).

IMG_8892.JPG

There are about half a million gators in the Everglades (over 2 million in Florida) and they live easily to 70-80 years old.

IMG_8896.JPG

You were given a little bit of misinformation about alligators. The will and do attack and eat people. I lived in the southern states for several years. Every few months, there was an alligator attack on a human. It is not there main staple, but they can, do, and will attack. Don't get to close to their babies, or try to touch them. You are right, though, that they are not overly interested in humans. We would frequent the Swamp area, the gators would walk away from us if they were sunning them selves on the path. They are not overly interested in man, and usually, they will walk away. Just don't bother them. And be sure to hold on to your babies and toddlers. They are easy prey, as are your pet dogs.

Well there we see that even the experts are not always right.

But any animal (including humans) WILL attack if their babies are threatened so I wouldn't really hold that against them.

I myself have none nor will ever get any so that is not a worry of mine.

Loved your review. We are doing the dolphin excursion at Nassau on Oasis (in ONE WEEK!) and although I know my DD (13) will LOVE it (she has NO idea and she has been DYING to do it for years) now I'm wishing we would have looked at the Sea Lion one. We were actually booked for it one year and ended up having to go Western due to a pesky tropical storm that developed over St. Thomas/St. Martin.

See you are doing Southern Caribbean next, it is AWESOME!! And Alaska after that - I will report back when we get back next July, in advance of your sailing!

Great review!!

Thank you :)

It is really special with both dolphins and sea lions. I'm happy I saw the smaller and gentler dolphins first, sea lions are a lot bigger and just a teensy wee bit scarier (although I'm not scared of anything. Not even heights, they're scared of me.)

Sting rays are on my list for the Southern!! And husky puppies for Alaska (although I won't be swimming with them... I assume )

Have a OAmazing time ;)

If you're going to Barbados, consider Shasa turtle excursion. We booked on our own and had 7 (our family and our friends) and it was EXCEPTIONAL. Talk about giant sea creatures. I was a little freaked out at first, but they were AMAZING

Thank you once again for an amazing report! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to your next reviews coming up. We will be on the Rhapsody/Hawaii in 2014. Can't wait to see your pictures of the ship.:)

BTW, we just booked the Everglades post-cruise excursion. Our flight isn't until 6 PM. I guess I'll bring a book and hope there is a relaxing restaurant in the FLL airport.

You're most welcome! We are also coming to Arizona next March but only to see the Grand Canyon (we'll be in Vegas for two weeks).

Oh Hawaiiii....

If I were you, I'd check in and drop the luggage off as soon as it's possible. At MIA we did it 4 hours before departure :)

FLL is very close to Downtown and the beaches so you maybe you can do something else before your flight. I would ;)

Beautiful dress! Where did you buy it at?

I would love to get my wife that dress!

Thanks

The dress is by "It's All About Eve".

You'll have to google it to find out if they sell this brand near you. I got my dress from here in Scandinavia.

Your wife must like you a LOT :D
