Check your folio regularly

Just returned from the Freedom a week ago and would suggest people check their folio regularly. I alway check it daily and on the 4th day I noticed a 'in cabin beverage' charge of $2.24....I never drink anything in the cabin, only use the frigde to keep my own pepsi cold that I bring on myself. I was hesitant if I should contact Guest Services about it and eventually I did. The nice guy at Guest Services didn't question me at all and it was immediately removed. I realize it is only $2.24 but if they did this to random cabins that is a nice chunk of change every sailing.

It is my hope that it was an honest entry mistake, although I didn't trust my cabin steward after he left us a hand written note with the following...smoking is only allowed on the balcony, don't smoke in the cabin...thanks....well I am well aware of Carnival's smoking policy and we spoke to him about it...and it was no big deal..."awwhh don't worry about it". He saw the full ashtray sitting on the table that we would bring in every night, so he assumed we smoked in the cabin, well our response to him was, we only brought it in nightly as we were told not to leave anything on the balcony. It seems you can't win....he wasn't friendly the rest of the week....oh well his loss...no extra cash in his palm, we gave it to the exceptional dining staff :)

We were on Glory last month and I ordered a Sprite at dinner in the MDR. I was checking my account at the kiosk later that night to see if our OBC was on our account. Imagine my surprise to see the charge for the Sprite I ordered and signed for AND a duplicate charge for 3 Sprites. Guest Services removed the charge and acted as if it was a routine occurrence. I was scared to order anything else from the MDR bar waiter the rest of the week. I was glad I noticed it the night it occurred and not have to complain at the end of the week.

We had the same experience on the Freedom. We were also charged twice for a round of drinks during the comedy show. It took two trips to guest services to get our credit. Our cabin stewart was efficient, but not very friendly. However, our MDR team, Eloy and Carlos were the best!

It's a good idea to check for accuracy often. We were charged for two alcoholic drinks on one of our cruises. Imagine our surprise since we don't drink! I went down to the desk and talked to someone who very quickly made the correction. Mistakes happen.

In all of our cruises, its only happened once... this last one. There was a charge on our folio for about $26 from the theater the night before. Since we had been in the casino, we went to guest services and questioned the charge. They were able to reprint the receipt and it was for 2 kiss on the lips and one bud light.... on my hubbys card. I teased him that he was getting kisses on the side!! Anyway, they had him sign the back of that slip and compared his signature with the original one. Of course the signatures didn't match and the charge was taken off of our account.

Happened to me on RCCL before you were able to view the charges. I stood in a long line the last day over a $7.50 drink served in one of the lounges. The guy didn't believe me when I told him I didn't drink and besides I was eating dinner IN THE MDR at the time he told me the drink was served.. He said I must have forgot. THEN I got ignorant and told him that I didn't think I'd forget that I didn't drink and got loud. (no profanity) When it got down to "LISTEN BUD..." He caved and removed the charge. And it wasn't the $7 it was the principal.

just a thought, if you bring a full ashtray from balcony each night and leave it in your cabin to be emptied it will stink up your whole cabin. when i used to smoke i would empty my ashtray into a used water bottle, coke can, etc. add a little water and it wouldn't stink up the joint.

with 3000 passengers on a ship i am amazed that their aren't a lot more mixed up checks, especially when a server may be trying to ring out a half dozen or so s&s cards at a time. i hope i haven't been over-reading the thread and people are thinking that carnival and a ship's employee is doing this as a way to make some additional money. and yes, check your s&s card every day. you'll know what you spent and its easier to take care of. oh, by the way, my bank just credited my deposit to someone else's account this week, boy am i glad that i checked online as soon as i got home.

On a Princess cruise a charge from a bar showed up for $40 on my account. Since I was pregnant at the time, and as such had not set foot in the bar where the charge came from, I knew there was no way it was mine. At Guest Services they combed through every signed receipt from that night until they found it. The waiter had apparently punched in the folio wrong, as the signature on the slip wasn't even my name, though the name under the signature line was. After that they had no problem removing it from my bill, though they weren't very nice about it before that. Whoever ordered that round of drinks got a nice freebie that night!

We had a bad experience with our first room steward as well! As far as the charge, that happened to us. We got a virgin pina colada to share one night (the only drink we had on the cruise that cost money) and they charged us for 2 of them. We returned the drink anyhow, (they put rum in it and we don't drink) so there shouldn't have been any charge. I think it was an honest mistake, but its good to check anyways!

My husband smokes cigars and when we cruise, he brings a supply of brown lunch bags and emptys his ashtray into those so the ashtray remains on the balcony.:)

So.... what does he do with the brown lunch bags full of ashes? Does he bring that into the cabin insted, so that the empty ashtray can stay on the balcony????

From my "fire fighter" point of view, I am concerned more about THAT fire hazard, rather than whether or not you empty the ash tray at all!!!!

A Paper bag with ashes in it (no matter how "old" or cold they seem to be) IS A FIRE HAZARD. The heat from the ashes, however slight, can eventually ignite the bag, that's why they dont make ashtrays out of paper...

PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT!!!!

He moistens it first. After 50+ cruises, this formula has worked well and there is no smell.

Check your receipts, too!

On our CTN, I ordered a Kiss on the Lips and was charged $14! Apparently, they'd recently implemented a second, larger size and the server hit the wrong one. I just showed them the glass I was drinking from and they fixed it, no problems. It was almost double!

Wouldn't bringing an ashtray into a cabin each night smell up the cabin? I can understand your stewards note. He's going to have to remove that smell for the next guest. I am not sure why you would not "trust" him after that.

Well I take it you are not a smoker....also if you wouldn't bring the ashtray in nightly...then you don't follow the directive that you aren't to leave anything on the balcony and that includes clothing....not my issue about removing the smell for the next guest...also why I didn't trust him....first he left me that note(which he could have addressed face to face....I didn't leave him a note with my response....I went to find him to discuss) also, maybe it was a coincidence but the charge of the pop on my account....first cruise out of 7 that I haven't been impressed with my steward...he just left a bad taste with me
