Maybe no way to really know...

But i wanted opinions anyway!

We live very close to the Nofolk port- and we wanted to go on the quick 2 night cruise to nowhere on the Glory- May 24th.

I just checked online and there are 110 inside rooms (for 2 people) left on all decks. We wanted to stick with inside, since it's such a short cruise. Plus, i've never sailed in an inside- so I wanted to "test the waters" so to speak, before I possibly book it for a 5 night.

We are outside of Early saver dates- so no price protection. So my thought was to wait it out for a last minute deal.

86 days until sail date.

So wait it out? Or just go ahead and book? Right now with the "Big Sale" its $289.

THanks for any thoughts!

Seems expensive. I don't like to cruise for more than $100 per night (per person), and I've done that twice in a balcony. But maybe Norfolk is just expensive.

Unless $289 is for 2.

Booking is a gamble. You just have to book when it is a price you'd be happy with.

My honest opinion is for $289 for a TWO night cruise to no where is crazy. That is $145 per night. DOUBLE what you could normally pay..

I would personally put the money away for a longer cruise at a much better price.

As far as an inside cabin...have had them many, many times. Have also had balconies many times..It comes down to cost for us. We have never had a problem on an inside cabin. We really do not spend much time in the cabins anyway and I am sure that being there for only 2 nights, you are not going to want to waste time there anyway.

Good luck in whatever you decide and have a GREAT time.:o

One and Two night cruises are very expensive, you can't compare the daily rate to a 7-day cruise. We were going to go on NCL Jewel last month for 2-nights out of New York and I think I was paying about $289 a person but that was for a balcony - but it was also in January, so May would get a higher rate (better weather).

Your rate seems rather high, but these 2 night cruises are higher priced, and they do sell out the closer you get to sailing, or at least they do on NCL out of New York.

I totally agree!

We live in Chesapeake. From what I have heard, these cruises do sell out. I know they seem expensive, but it is still cheaper than going to Atlantic City for 2 nights. You can't even get a room in a casino for less than 300 a night on a weekend.

To me, you are getting really great entertainment, good food, a casino, and some time away. Well worth 145 a night to me. You could spend that much alone on dining out 3 times a day.

I say go for it and have fun.

It is expensive and the ones out of NYC as someone stated are even more expensive. We looked into one for my mother to test the cruise waters since she was leary of them and the price never dropped, so if you want to do it, I'd say go for it now.

Oh no doubt the CTN are not cost effective!

We just got back from 2 connecting balconies on 4 night Liberty of the Seas, out of Ft. Lauderdale, for $309 PP.

But the Norfolk cruises never seem to go as cheap as FL.

And it'll be my oldest (16) and me. So a longer cruise isn't in our calender right now. She's a Junior in HS and can't miss school right now.

We are going on the 5 night on Glory out of Nofolk in October- with our whole family (5 of us).

I know the per night is high. But I'm willing to pay it- for a fun weekend away with my busy teenager.

I should have booked right after Christmas, it was $199.

But we were waiting on a yes/no from my mom who was considering going.

I think I will wait it out some more. And just check prices daily.

We are in between Norfolk and Baltimore. I've been watching these as a fun weekend getaway. (3 kids and recovering MIL so we can't do longer.) That's been the going rate for the last few months on the CTN, both ports. The 5 day out of Baltimore is as low as $409 inside but the CTN still $289.

People need to STOP comparing a 4, 5, 7 day cruise to the 2 night cruise to nowhere. These 2 nighters are, like someone else said, as if you were going to Atlantic City for the weekend (well, they are weekend cruises - Friday to Sunday is the 2 nighters). These cruisers are for people who want to have a weekend of NON-STOP FUN. Obviously, they have a draw because these cruises sell out weeks before sailing in New York and now from what I hear, Norfolk (not sure about Miami, where cruises are a dime a dozen).

That's pretty pricey. I paid $329 PP out of NY about 10 years ago for a balcony, and everyone says today's fares are the same or less.

The 2 days also weren't worth it. We were getting off as quick as just getting on.

I'd say go ahead and book it. A weekend away with your daughter is priceless!! It may be a little expensive when compared with the longer cruises but they sell out rather quickly so they must be worth it. Hotel, food and entertainment for a weekend would cost that much! Book it and enjoy! :)

I think it is a fair comparision though. If the OP could instead do a 5 day cruise for roughly the same amount- they then need to decide if the extra vacation time would be worth it.

I wouldn't go to Atlantic City for the weekend precisely because it isn't cost effective for my interests. For the same amount, I can spend a week in Wildwood and have an enjoyable time.

When the Dream was launched, we did the two day in New York after the preview (I have got to post my pic of the ship with the New York skyline reflected in it). If I remember correctly, it was around $600 for the two of us, we had a spa balcony cabin. We did it because we were already going to New York for the preview the night before, and it seemed worth it.

Then we had to deal with the major storm and the cruise to nowhere going out in the middle of it so the casino could open. It was so bad that water was sloshing over the therolassapy (I know I spelled that wrong) pool when we were in it...then later, that same pool water came through our roof in our cabin by the door. Water bottles were flying around, it was nuts. Everyone was inside because the weather was terrible and there were crowds everywhere. Thankfully they squeezed us in the steakhouse and that saved things a bit.

I won't do 2 day again, unless it goes out of Seattle (close), if the weather is bad that is it for the whole cruise, no more days for it to get better (we had a terrible day in the med once, but that was on an 11 day). For OP, since you are close, I would probably take a chance on it.
