Hello folks!

 

 

I'm going on the Adventure in September and I'm currently booked in 9690. My two friends are booked in 9390. We haven't heard pleasant things about these balconies, especially with it not having any overhead so we are contemplating a change.

 

The only cabins left in our category (so wouldn't require a priced change) are on deck 6, starboard side. Would this be considered a good change? How close are they to the lifeboats on the side? Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. I believe one of the cabin numbers we're looking at is 6262.

 

My 2 cents. We enjoy 9690 and 9390. The balcony is bigger and you are not really hampered by the super structure. Also there is much less foot traffic in the aft.

 

No way on earth would we ever stay in a deck 6 balcony again. Just spent 2 weeks in the tin can balcony. No way, no how, never again will we stay in a balcony cabin on deck 6 again.

 

Only difference in the E1 vs the E3 is location not worth any increased cost.

 

For me it is a no brainer 9690 and 9390 anytime. My suggestion keep them.

Oh no!!! All the comments about the deck 6 balconies are concerning me. I am supposed to be in a deck six balcony on 5/9 and I had questioned whether or not they were good and I got decent responses at the time. The only concern was not seeing out the bottom of the balcony rail. I'm sure I have no other options this late in the game. Ugh!

 

It's my first ever balcony and I would love for it to be great!

That is what happened to us. Needed connecting and deck 6 was pretty much it when we booked. We were also unaware of the "tin can". Made the best of it but wish we had known ahead of time.

 

If you are in the aft 6362/64 or 6374/76 your cabin attendant is fantastic!

I'm not going to worry, I called my TA and they said they never heard these complaints so I figure different people have different opinions and I know there are plus's and minus's to every cabin. I'm going with the plus, that the room is larger than the average balcony. Not going to let some opinions put a damper on my vacation. I'm more worried about the weather, hoping sunny skies and no rainy days:)

Yeah I just booked a RFS on this ship for Nov. '16. I don't even care that its months and months away, it is on the books. My honeymoon was on the Mariner and I have a special place in my heart for this class. Everyone in my party is very excited.

Every cruise I have been on used to tickets or reservations. Is it a free for all on Adventure. Do people get in line way early and save spots? I see there are 4 shows 2 & 4 pm on day 4, and 7 & 9 pm day 5. Any experience with who h ones to avoid?

The latest compasses I've seen for 2Sea/3Barbados/4St Lucia/5Antigua/6SMX/7St Croix have the ice show at 7 & 9 on day 4 and 4:30 and 6:30 on day 7. I'm also wondering about the ticket/no ticket situation. I've heard no tickets, so hoping it's not a mob scene to get into Studio B. There are almost always lots of seats with decent views, the thing I don't like is the crush of people pushing and shoving!:(

Your sailing could be different but there were plenty of seats available both weeks in Dec.

Question for recent Diamond (or +) cruisers on Adventure:

 

Are the Diamond Lounge cocktails loaded onto your sea pass for use in any lounge between 5-8 PM or must you go to the Diamond lounge? Thanks! Traveling with an 18 yo, we'd much prefer to go wherever we like:D

 

Thanks! We are down to counting days, not months, I'm almost all packed- even bought my first ever "over the door shoe hanger" since we are sharing a cabin with 3! ;) Can't wait!

You can go to any bar to use the 3 nightly drink vouchers.

I love the location and outdoor seating of the diamond club, and we will probably go for breakfast, but we really don't want to hang out there with our 18 yo, we can make the rounds instead, especially now that the ships are nonsmoking there are more options! :D

I really enjoyed having the drinks loaded onto the seapass card when we were on Indy. That was our first cruise since RCI started doing that. It is so much nicer than being confined to the Diamond lounge. We used the DL for breakfast also. Nice outdoor seating area and not crowded at all.

All RCI ship are non-smoking, not even on your own balcony. Smoking is allowed only in designated areas.

Ok, at first I thought there was a new smoking policy which has been discussed at length.....but smoking is still allowed, in designated areas as it has always been...only recent change that I'm aware of is balconies.

And there has been talk about casinos also.

Casinos are still 1/2 & 1/2 on our last two RCI cruises. Being a non-smoker that's why I don't like hanging around the casino because there's really no way to keep the smoke out of the other 1/2.

I know you can get 30% off if you book 3 nights online. Can you still get that discount if you wait until you board?

 

Can you book the first night online and then add 2 more once you see how you like the menu and still get the discount?

It does Sat when it is the only ship there. Looks like they are leaving it "reversed" when JW returns winter of 2016.

I hope it's Sunday in two weeks, or I'm in trouble! I'm sure if they have just one ship in they'd prefer to give their shore side crew Sundays off, and pay less for food deliveries etc!

 

That will teach you to miss a year! Not get back in here, we need you! :D
