so the only way to access the outside deck is by going to mid or fwd?..Seems like a long walk.

Does the splendor have a deck where you can walk around the whole ship?

LOL apparently not! Classic case of you can't get there from here!

Big Duck - we were taking about doors from the outside deck to the aft section of the ship. I'm assuming that on embarkation day we will board through the lobby. That's always been my experience in the past - but new ship so who knows!

Yes and no. Scratch that, you can walk all around on decks 9 and 10 (but not outside).

Well that's good to know! I have 2 apps working - ShipMate and Deck Director - I don't plan to get lost!

We usually chose a cabin somewhere mid-ship, but they wouldn't move the aft wrap to the middle for us - damn that Carnival - so uncooperative! ;)

I have a Splendor casino question... specifically does anyone know if they have Top Dollar or Double Top Dollar slots? Those games are paying for this cruise.

From what I've seen the casino looks bigger than Spirit class????

Looking forward to finding a good machine next to a window drinking a free DoD.

The way I'm reading that is that Malcolm is off from 5/1 to 6/26 with Jeremy Tex Mays replacing him - so I thought we would have Tex not Malcolm on the 6/10 (or 10/6 not to confuse the Scots among us! ;) ) cruise.

According to John H the 6/10 (aka 10/6) cruise will have Malcolm - unless he misunderstood me.

and back on 6/26 or if you wear a kilt 26/6.

Never had Big Tex before, should be interesting.

Thank you. :D

The Lobby deck outside goes all the way back but there are no doors. Outside on deck 4 is the lifeboat stations, not accessible to guest except in an emergency. At embarkation, you probably won't be able to get to your cabin when you board, at other times cross at deck 5 or deck 2.

Our cabin is on deck 2 near the forward elevators so it looks like we will be able to walk up the stairs to the atrium bar for a drink & straight into the Black Pearl dining room for ATD. Is that correct?

To those who were on a recent sailing... how crowded was the spa? I have a spa balcony booked for our February 2014 sailing on this ship and I am hoping it won't be crowded, will be heavenly to relax there on the sea days!!

The spa areas were never very crowded. The most people we saw in the therapy pool at once was seven, and at most six or seven in the thermal rooms.

I am on the 4/23 cruise, I'll be sure to post when we get back. Already had CD Malcom 2x, maybe on the Miracle and I did find him quite annoying.....Prob ranks in the bottom but that won't stop us from having a great cruise.

WOW this thread got cranked up in a hurry, didn't it? Fantastic - I just booked Splendor for November after I saw a humongous price drop (I'm going solo in one of the forward 1A/porthole cabins - they are THE DEAL for solos.) So keep the info coming, a new ship for me and my first Platinum to boot!

Thank your Don. For once it looks like I made a good decision. We usually get an aft balcony cabin but money is a factor this time & usually I find that it's either too sunny on my balcony or I'd really rather be up on deck people watching than all alone on my balcony. That said, if money was not so tight I'd still probably get the balcony just to be able to walk out on it once in a while, however I will really enjoy the convenience of the short walk to the atrium bar, one of my favorite before dinner stops!

Glad I found this thread. I am looking to book a cruise for this ship in August and the reviews had me getting worried . I will be traveling with my niece. It will be her first cruise and my third. My first two were on RC but money is a big factor. Also, cruising from NY is much more cost effective for me. I would rather a drive from Long Island than a flight from Long Island. I think I will be booking this cruise tomorrow morning.

When I go on vacation I go to enjoy myself and Im sure the New yorkers do the same. The ships are 900 plus feet long and 100 plus feet wide enough room to satisfy your needs. May I suggest relaxing and enjoying your next vacation instead of looking for falts of other people and mingle with others you will find out there is good and bad in all people. Its your Vacation make the best of it and have fun !!!

Cyber_Kat, my DW and I also have an Aft Wrap booked for the July 12th sailing (7/12 or 12/7...). First time on Splendor, twice in AFT wraps on Miracle. Please come back and let us know how the room was. Thanks.

LOL! We have 6485 - which one are you in? There is an awesome video on YouTube of this cabin - it's what sold us on it -

There are videos there for 6450 - opposite corner and one of the 2 on deck 7 - not sure of the number.

Don't wish my cruise away :(

Thanks to all who have shared your impressions! I'm so glad to hear some positive ones! I'm really looking forward to this cruise! 2 months ONE day - getting close!

Another question for the Splendor experienced ... What is the best way to get from the atrium/lobby to the aft part of the ship. We have an aft wrap on deck 6. I've been looking at the deck plans, and it seems like the galley gets in the way. I see there are 2 outside decks one on the Lobby deck and one on the Atlantic deck. Can you use either one of those to get from mid ship to aft?

I'm thinking of embarkation. Should we just take the elevators from the lobby up to deck 6 and walk down that long hallway? Looks like we are going to have to take those forward elevators because I don't see anyway to the one ones near the stern.

Oh ... and did any of you carry on a suitcase near the size that Carnival says you can carry on - 16"H x 24"W. I was quite proud of myself getting everything int a suitcase a bit smaller than that on our last cruise. But the port people gave me a hard time (I think they have a little something going with the porters ;) ). They didn't actually stop me, but one of them harassed me all the way up to the security check in. The suitcase fit through with no problem - lots of room to spare - and the security people didn't even blink.

I'm trying to decide whether the harassment was worth the convenience of having only one suitcase. If I check it, then I have to take another rolling suitcase - the kind that fits in the airline over head bin (we're not flying) with all the stuff I am not putting in checked luggage - camera, nook, laptop etc. Which is the lessor of two evils :D

I hope this isn't an issue! I never even considered it! I'm carrying on my wedding dress!
