Upgrading last minute

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to upgrade our cabin 3 weeks before sailing? (booked through a TA)

I mean to pay the difference, i'm not interested in a free upgrade.

seems the prices on my cruise have dropped a little, and its only a $50 difference or so in price now to go outside vs inside.

Can i just call the TA and have them change it?

Cruise is paid-in-full.

(TA is closed now, thats why not asking them)

Thanks ill call monday.

When i booked the cruise, there was like a $400 total difference, now there is only a $40 total difference.

I'd gladly throw another $40 to upgrade.

will there be any other fees or anything?

Shouldn't be any new fee's - just the difference in price to be paid

We have upgraded our cabin in the last few days for a cruise on 1st June and had no problems at all. We researched a cabin that we wanted then phoned the TA and she sorted it out. No fee to pay just the increase in cost for the larger cabin. Good luck and hope you get the cabin you want :)

As you used a TA it will depend on your TA if there is any extra fees involved.

If the Price difeerence you see is for non-restricted fares like for example not for new bookings only, then yes that´s the difference you pay for the upgrade.

Of course the ability to upgrade is always driven by availability.

Prices could go up until Monday again.

This is for US bookings, as bookings in other countries might vastly differ.

We did exactly the same thing last week for our cruise in 2 weeks time. We upgraded from a D2 to a JS for only £40 ($60) each, prior to that the price had been £500 ($750) each :) We didn't pay any extra fees and we'd booked through a TA in the UK

We upgraded two weeks before sailing. Go ahead and see if you can put a courtesy hold on a cabin for that price.

Then call your TA first thing in the morning and she/he should be able to call RCL and release that cabin to you for the $40.

As others have mentioned that price could very well be gone tomorrow.

Good luck

PS That is if you are in the US, not sure about rules in other countries

Perseverance helps when trying to upgrade. I had an inside on a 3-day repo and it took three calls before I got a rep that said I could upgrade to a balcony for the $40 difference the current bookings sale involved. The first two said "new bookings only". If you're working through a TA, make sure they don't take "no" for an answer.
