Crusinmama Breaks down the Breakaway for Families

Recommended Posts

Thank you very much!

I just sent my sister the information for my nephews.

Everytime I look at your picture, you look just like my sister and that is how

she poses when she takes a picture.

Thanks again!

Thank you for all the great information. I will be sailing in March 2014 with my 4 1/2 year old and 6 year old so I really appreciate the information about the kids area. This will be my first time with the kids so can you explain how Splash Academy works? When the close at 12 on sea days I assume we just need to be there to pick the kids up and then can bring them back when they re-open at 2, right? And same with dinner time.

When in Port, what does it mean at the bottom of the sheet when it says "There will be no signing in during Port Play Meals"? They are open during port days, but just not during lunch and dinner again? Is that what that means? Thanks for your help!

We are going with another couple with little kids so really hoping that if they are all together they will feel more comfortable going into the Splash Academy and giving Mommy and Daddy a little free time! :)

cruisinmamma, thank you again. I sent all your information to my sister last night and it helped with our planning.

Let me ask you this though, I asked her what time the clubs open at night and she told me they open at 7:00 pm (closed 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm). What do people that have young children do that want to go to a 7:00 pm show? Do they have to go to a late show?

I am hoping to book a 7 pm Rock of Ages show and will need to plan our dinner accordingly so not sure if we can do this or not.

Thanks so much!

I already answered on your other thread - but anyone else reading this - they told me that they will open at 6:45 for Rock of Ages nights to accommodate parents who want to go to the 7:00 pm show.

Oops sorry - I meant to reply to this sooner and then forgot to come back.

Yes - the above as you have it is exactly right. When they say they "close at 12" - then you simply come to get them. If you don't come to get them at 12 on a port day then they would automatically go into "port play lunch" and they WILL charge you for feeding your child. And the "no signing out during" - means that you can't come to the buffet at 12:30 - find your children and try to take them with you :)

The sign out system is a computer and it is unsafe to sign out when they are not back at the computer.

I hope that makes sense. If you have anymore questions - please let me know.

We are sailing next week with a 4 yr old, a 6 yr old, and a 12 yr old. I am so disappointed that at least the 4 & 6 yr olds won't be together. It would have been so much easier to get them to the club if they were....

I know there is an open time when they can be together. Is that every day? And what about at night if we decide to leave them all there past 10-10:30? Can they be together?

Thanks....

Yes there are times when they can play together, it is called free play and will be listed on the kids schedule. Beware though, I have sent my two just to be called back quickly when the boys found out the free play wasn't age-mixing because numbers were too high??? I wasn't happy that I wasn't informed of this change when I checked them in, but know I know to ask :)

I don't know about late night because we've never used it, but I'm sure someone else will know that answer.

Oh and one more food for thought ;) Yes I always think of these things late at night when I should be sleeping.

We were in a QUAD balcony. If we would have had the bed dropped from the ceiling - how could we have gotten into the closet? It was a VERY tight squeeze as it was with just the couch there. If the kids had been with us - and the bed was lowered - the closet would be blocked.

Check the deck plans and decide which is better for you when booking your quad.

How was the Smoke surrounding the Casino. We have two kids age 2 and 5, all of us are very susceptible to smoke. Is it better or worse than on the EPIC that you know? Thanks

I didn't notice much but I know they were working on some ways to improve the dining establishments that are located directly near the casino.

They are suppose to have better ventilation.

I was wondering, what are the options for drinks that are free and where can you get them? And also, if i get the soda package kids, do we have tthe option of getting cans or is it only fountain drinks???

Great review by the way:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Great! I am glad to help. Enjoy your cruise :D

Thanks! This is our 1st cruise and looking forward to it. I'm thinking of getting him the soda package but not sure for me. Is the iced tea fresh brewed unsweetened? Thanks :)
