UPDATED List of Current Cruise Directors (CD)

Last cruise ends on the 8th March she then sails to Cadiz Spain for the refit no paying passengers crossing for a TA with no stops is about 7 days, she returns to service on the 24th April sailing from Southampton, that is the current plan for her.

 

Just off Explorer. After 45 days of dry dock she will cruise a few sailings and then go to Australia for permanent port.

I find it odd that people care to know who the cruise director is ahead of time, I couldn't tell you who was the cruise director was really on any cruise I've been on. I feel the cruise director is an old time thing like traditional dining, not really needed in modern cruising.

Without the hard work of the CD and their team, there would be no entertainment or activities organised. I am sure it would be noticed if they weren't there.

 

Personally, I don't let a CD make or break a cruise as such but I have experienced both great and not-so-great CD's and I can absolutely see how it can change the atmosphere on a cruise.

 

As always Donna, thanks for the hard work you put in to maintaining this thread and to those who help obtain the info.

Thank you. He is usually the Activities Manager, and he was filling-in for one week only while the regular CD attended a conference.

Anthem OTS - Joff Eaton will be taking out the ship and continuing on as its regular CD. Ken Rush will also be onboard for the first 6-8 weeks doing behind the scenes duties to provide a smooth take out

Enchantment OTS - Marc Walker January 19 until March 13. Who will be covering Marc's paternity leave March 13 through April 17? Marc returns from paternity leave on April 17 until May 18. Who is covering Marc's vacation May 18 through July 13? Jamie Fentimore? Marc returns from his vacation on July 13.

 

Explorer OTS - Leigh Xuereb returned Nov 1st until the ship enters drydock on March 8. When the ship returns to service on April 24, Keith Williams will be the CD. (Leigh has been reassigned to Indy).

The end of May or beginning of June. It is too soon to know the exact date and the next CD. Keep coming back - I will update the list as soon as the info is made available.

I just got back from Indy. On embarkation day, I bumped into Gordon and chatted with him. By the end of the week, there were murmurs that Ricky was joining the staff as CD on 2/22/15. Amy Tripp was a fabulous Activity Manager for the week, and told me she was expecting to remain on Indy until she is transferred to Anthem for a 2 month stint and then to be moving to Explorer.

 

With the temporary status of people in certain jobs last week, it would be nice to hear from people currently on board, how things changed on Indy for the 2/22/15 sailing.

It is very confusing with the AMs stepping up last week. I was going crazy keeping up the lsit.

Just off the NAV today. Elise was the CD last week while John was off but she was getting off today. She told me that John was the permanent CD on NAV and was boarding TODAY.

 

I will try to find the AM thread to post about Elise - but if I don't find it - she is off and does NOT have another contract lined up yet. They are still trying to work something out so that her and her partner can be on the same ship. He is certified as an iFly instructor now so you can figure out where she is trying to go :)

Carly Boileau has semi-retired, but will return as a fill-in CD from time-to-time

Rich Edwards is currently recovering from surgery and resting at home. He will be returning in April 2015.

Allan Brooks left Royal Caribbean to take a position in Celebrity corporate office.

Richard Spacey is a CD with Celebrity

Becky Thompson works for Celebrity Cruises in their corporate offices in Miami.

Dave Chapman has left RCCL. He is taking an extended break, and then he will be moving over to another cruiseline.

James Andrews is a real estate agent in Sydney

Mike Szwajkowski is a Canadian Mountie

Leo Papa at Cornell University working on a Master's degree in Hospitality Administration/Management

Anna Bass is now Client Services Manager at ISS London

Yes. Bill Brunckhorst was the CD, and Carly took over yesterday.

 

Katrina is the Activities Manager with her CD husband John Blair. They are due on Jewel in March to cover Elvis' break.

Just off the NAV today. Elise was the CD last week while John was off but she was getting off today. She told me that John was the permanent CD on NAV and was boarding TODAY.

 

I will try to find the AM thread to post about Elise - but if I don't find it - she is off and does NOT have another contract lined up yet. They are still trying to work something out so that her and her partner can be on the same ship. He is certified as an iFly instructor now so you can figure out where she is trying to go :)

 

Yes, John is the regular CD, but he's been on since November, so he is due for a break in March. He was only off the ship last week to attend the CD conference.

 

I am looking for info on who will be filling-in during John's break, March thru May.

I find it odd that people care to know who the cruise director is ahead of time, I couldn't tell you who was the cruise director was really on any cruise I've been on. I feel the cruise director is an old time thing like traditional dining, not really needed in modern cruising.

 

 

It appears that you do not participate in traditional activities either. I had some time on my hands and your cruise history was nagging me, so I did a little research.

 

Do not criticize or negatively comment on those of us who are interested in who the CD might be on our cruise. Your "modern" cruising is definitely NOT my modern cruising!!!! I'm sure you do not like it when anyone "rains on your parade" ! Enough said ?! Good!

Are you positive about Elvis being promoted? He's my favorite and it's certainly deserved. He wasn't just filling in during the CD meetings last week? So excited to be on the Jewel in May now!

Yes! It's been confirmed by Dennis that Elvis has been promoted (check a few pages back for the posts regarding that announcement). Elvis started his break yesterday, and when he returns in approx. 2 months, he will be the CD.

 

Carly has semi-retired (although she is doing a fill-in on Serenade a the moment) and Dennis is moving over to Quantum, so Jewel will have a new CD team.

 

However, I imagine that Elvis is needed in the Spanish speaking market, so I speculate that he may not be doing the Alaskan itineraries on Jewel. Perhaps he will move over to Adventure for that time???
