"LIVE" from Grandeur of the Seas - July 11, 2013

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. . .We are back in Baltimore. Grandeur of the Seas is about to embark over 2000 smiling passengers as they will be sailing to Bermuda this week under “hopefully” sunny skies.

We pulled in the pier this morning under heavy rains at about 7AM, and thunder. It seems not to be a good way to end a cruise, but this was a last minute unscheduled cruise that was worth it.

The GLOW Dance party last night was pretty good, and the RCI Sales staff were handing out glasses and rings with many blinking colorful lights. The pool band was playing and it was very fun to watch the activities. This was a special event that many of the crew had not seen as it was for the special sailing.

I have many more pics to post, but I will only post a few because it seems that they are throwing me off at 830 this morning. The nice thing is that as the passengers onboard today are leaving, there will be no Customs or immigration lines. . . I can just walk off and not even enter the terminal.

When I return home, I may watch the news for a few moments and then I will provide many more pics.

Thanks for all of the very nice comments, and thanks so much for tuning in. . .I have plans to sail on Grandeur soon to Bermuda !

Good day to everyone. . .

The pool band was very good, and many passengers seemed to love them.

Hey there, Radio!

I ALWAYS love tuning into your "live" reports! Thank you so much for your pictures and insight on the lovely "Grandeur of the Seas". Hubby and I are looking very forward to sailing on her again on July 26th! So glad you were able to cash in on this special sailing opportunity! Thank you so much, again! We're getting more and more excited all the time! :D

Kindest Regards,

Melinda

Radio, when you say the casino is small do you mean it is smaller than the one on Enchantment which I thought was small .

Yes I really love the larger size Casinos, like on Voyager, freedom, and Oasis Class. . . Grandeur wasn't bad but I just like a larger variety of slots and games !

This Casino Royale was identical in size to Enchantment.

Kathy,

How about cabin 7156? Did you happen to see anything about that cabin? We are sailing August 23rd and it was right above where it looks like the windows blew out on the lounge.

Thanks, Linda

My crew slept in that room after the fire until we were flown home. It should be a-okay. All it really needed was a good pressure wash on the balcony and around it. The smoke smell aired out within the first day thanks to propping the doors.

Anxiously awaiting your report. I will be in 7154 aft Dec. 24 sailing so hoping you can tell us what shape those afts are in. Thanks Radio!

We're in 7154 on the August 23 sailing. We'll make sure to keep the cabin in good shape for you!

Thanks, Radio. We live in Baltimore & Grandeur is my favorite ship (I fell in love with cruising on its initial repositioning from New Orleans to Baltimore in 2004). In the Summer of 2009, I actually sailed to Bermuda twice! Very happy that she is back & looking so good. Hope to see her again very soon!

Thanks for the updates and pictures, Radio. Look forward to hearing more, in particular with any information from the crew and staff.

Our first (and only) cruise on Grandeur was her Maiden Voyage when she was a brand new ship. We are sailing on her again for the second time on 7/26, when she will essentially be brand new all over again. Really looking forward to it - we loved her then and I'm sure we will again now!

Thanks for all the updates Radio, GREAT PICTURES! I am happy to be sailing on her July 26. We went on Oasis last year, TOO MANY PEOPLE FOR ME... I didnt think the hype about Oasis was all that. I am glad to go on a smaller ship, and Grandeur seems JUST right. Wonderful photos, love the dining room. Thanks again.

Thank you, Radio!! I am so excited after reading all of your posts and seeing your pictures. We sail on the Grandeur exactly a week from today and was happy to read that the Diamond Lounge should be repaired by then! I can't wait for you to post more pictures!

We absolutely love & prefer the smaller ships. We've sailed on every class and always come back to the Grandeur and Enchantment. They have the Best staff! And Baltimore in our opinion is the best and most efficient organized port!

We too have had the good fortune of sailing on at least one ship in every RCI class from Sovereign to Oasis (and are planning Quantum in 2014) and can honestly say we like each one for different reasons. It depends a lot with us as to whether it is just my wife and I sailing or with our kids - and their respective ages over the years with each cruise - and the itinerary. Hard to pick a favorite!

But as mentioned earlier in this thread, we were last on Grandeur on her maiden voyage and will be on her again in two weeks - really looking forward to cruising on her again!
