Potential new cruiser on MSC Divina

My DW and I are potentially looking at trying the MSC Divina once it's repositioned to Miami. We love Celebrity and have 2 upcoming cruises booked with them. We have only cruised once more with RCCL. Celebrity is definitely our favorite for one main reason... The smoking policy. Although I have absolutely nothing against smoking or smokers, I just prefer not being in that type of environment. Before I book a cruise with MSC, can anyone tell me what the policy is on smoking? I understand that there are probably designated areas like on Celebrity, but how about in the casino, on stateroom balconies, etc... Also, if you can think of any good reasons why we should try MSC, We would love to hear it. Just to add a little more about us: we are in our early 40's and we are not that big on the nightlife. We are fortunate enough to be able to cruise with balconies every time we go on a cruise. Happy cruising to everyone!

I can only share our experience on Poesia this past winter season in Caribbeans from Ft Lauderdale, but I think smoking policy will be the same on Divina.

 

- Smoking is not permitted on balconies.

- Out of all bars and lounges smoking was permitted in Cigar Lounge (we did not see anybody smoking there) and on one side of Poeti bar.

- On the open decks of the Port side.

I am a pipe smoker. As Tatka says, Divina indeed has a "Smoking Lounge", no smoking on balcony (but is allowed in cabin...so I just sat in doorway to balcony. STUPID rule). Outside, smoking is allowed anywhere on port-side of ship. Smoking is also allowed throughout the casino.

Smoking is not permitted on the balcony as previously posted.It is now NOT permitted in cabins. It is also not permitted in any food sevice area, nor areas such as elevators, halls and stairways. It is permitted in certain sections of lounges and one side of the Lido and of course the cigar lounge. This comes straight from the MSC sales dept in Miami.

 

On another topic, MSC America has announced special festivities on its Nov 20 3 night cruise. There will be fireworks, special parties on board, gifts and additional surprises onboard. Inside cabins are $219.00 per person! Sounds exciting!

This is great news. I just booked this cruise and was debating whether or not I should bother with such a short cruise. I thought it would be a good way to try out MSC. I think they could have picked a better port of call than Pt. Canaveral but since I'll probably stay on board for the entire cruise that's really a non-issue for me.

That is good to know. I was beginning to worry about the stale smoke smell in the cabins.
