Impact a RCCL cruise made on my sons life choices!!

Recommended Posts

Excellent story! Thanks for sharing, and keep the updates coming, you know we all love to hear it!

My DD is living her dream, though not on RCI, she didn't make it all the way through the audition process, lol. Shhhh...she's now a dancer on another cruiseline, halfway through her first contract, and having the time of her life! We couldn't be prouder, and like you, still hope she will take the time to finish her college degree. But for now, and you'll say the same for your son I'm sure, she's young, single and grabbing her life's dream, and enjoying every second of it. Though she did say she will never ever complain about the small size of a pax cabin again! LOL.

SO exciting!! I have been lucky enough to watch David grow over the past few years... My booth was across from him at the roundhouse stage at the Riverside Arts Market during the years he preformed there! I was so excited to see him on AMT... but so happy I'll get a chance to see him on a RCI cruise in the future!! Wishing for David Fair Winds and Following Seas!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

I just got home from a RCCL 7 Day cruise and to my surprise, David Ferman was on the ship! Sometimes, we'd catch him practicing on the different decks. I have to say, his juggling is much more impressive in person. TV does not do him justice.

He's also very modest. When I started clapping, he looked right at me and said "shhh" because he didn't want to draw attention to himself. Though, eventually a crowd would form because he really is that good.

Thanks!! He got his start street performing at the Riverside Arts Festival the year before RAM started. At 13 he pulled in a bundle working a few hours a day... He was even more hooked on performing when his bucket filled up while he was juggling...

vamprella.... it was fun getting to know you and your daughter on the cruise. We are in Atlanta in Feb......

Impact a RCCL cruise made on my sons life choices!!

My son David Ferman was on Adventure of the Seas in Sept. 2002. He was 8 years old and got pulled up on stage for the Wilde and Hanes show. On stage the guys told him that one day he too could become a stunt juggler and go on cruise ships to perform.

To an 8 year old this was a dream come true. David came home and a week later found himself in time out in his room. He picked up some balls and started to practice thinking that some day he could be a performer and live on a cruise ship. He taught himself how to juggle. His dad did some juggling so David knew how to start his quest.

Now David is 19 and plans to live his dream for real. He still wants to work cruise ships but also have a Vegas show too. David made contact with Hanes/ Haines to tell him of the influence that trip on stage had on his life. Then at the Chicago audition for Americas Got Talent, Sean Haines showed up and now they are friends. David is continuing his quest started on Adventure of the Seas with his audition in Chicago and then in Vegas and now moving on to Radio City Music Hall. All this was because of one cruise on Adventure of the Seas back in 2002!!!!

America's Got Talent even aired a shot of him on stage with the Adventure of the Seas curtain in the background when he was 8 years old.... How cool that one cruise can direct a kids life ambitions!

I hope you don't mind me sharing a Royal Caribbean story that has impacted my son's life.....

Its a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing it and wish you son, David, all the best in pursuing his dreams. May they all come true.
