To be clear- Suite gives you nothing?

No it is the other way around, the suite guests get to use the same line as the Platinum/Diamond then followed by FTTF via a separate waiting area line.

The last couple of times we cruised on Carnival, Platinum/Diamond all shared the same waiting area. They were called and then followed by suite guests and boarded the ship in a long combined line.

One of those cruises was on the Carnival Ecstasy when we had booked PH1 suite for our anniversary in 2011. We checked in and then merged into the line for suites/Platinum/Diamond who were already boarding.

Long story short, even though we had one of the two largest suites on the ship, it didn't give us any of those wonderful perks that some of the other cruise lines extent to their guests. But we enjoyed every minute of that cruise.

A tip I might offer here for those new to cruising, is that the cruise line websites have good information about the size and amenities that are available for their accommodations.

The exception to this was our PH1 suite on the Ecstasy that was not on the deck plan since it is a "secret" suite.

One more question. :) Are there any bigger suites on the Pride then the Vistas? When I booked this was the largest available. Just wondering if there are as some ships have secret suites to them. Also wondering if there are then if there is a chance for upgrading and what is there to upgrade to. We have been lucky to get the upgrade fairy twice so far on NCL. Thanks again for all the great info!

It's always nice to start complaining before the cruise starts. That way u get it out of the way.

I don't think I was complaining? I was asking a question or two. If you read my posts you would see I said in just about every one of them that I looked forward to our cruise. I guess we aren't allowed to ask things here? I should have seen this coming actually. I've been on this board for 13 years now and it always seems to go downhill by one snide remark.

If you are already platinum and already get priority, then the answer for most of us is you get nothing with a suite, except a bath tub. Yep, I have seen people post that as the only perk.

On newer ships all the suites the bath tub has jets of some kind if you like that. Im a shower person.

Firefly, Im also a shower person and on the VICTORY in the GRAND SUITE you got TWO SHOWER HEADS. LOL :D WOO HOO!

skiwee... just to mention a few other extras.. at least in a "GS on the Victory"

+ larger room

+ changing room

+ extra sink

+ extra closet

+ extra dresser drawers

+ wider larger balcony

+ jet tub w/ real shower doors

+ extra bar space & glasses

I guess its all what you consider "extra" ;)

Are there DVD players in the suites?

in May in the GS on the Victory we did not have a dvd player, but there were connections (in/out) for the wires on counter panel just under the TV.

Maybe it is something to request from the room steward or guest services?

We've sailed in S1/S2 (PH1/PH2) perhaps 10 times. Each time we were personally escorted, taken to the front of the lines, and walked to the cabin. Did that not happen in your case?

We are definitely looking forward to bigger room and balcony. Closet space is awesome as we tend to overpack and buy too much crap. LOL I am a bath person so will be bringing some goodies to use in there. I might order a bar set up too while I'm thinking about it. Always nice to have some liquor in the room. Thanks again!

This is the best shower I've come across on Carnival (if only they could've delivered a bit more pressure):

For some reason, it seems to vary by ship. You'd think that they would at least like to tout SOMETHING extra for suites. The promise of a DVD player would be something...

Here's a list of suite perks on RCI. They all don't cost money so I don't see why they can't add some perks on Carnival:

  • Priority check-in
  • Personalized attention throughout the cruise with complimentary Concierge Club service on select ships
  • Reserved prime seating in the main theater for entertainment shows, where available
  • Priority tender tickets on select cruises.
  • VIP pool deck seating, where available
  • Full breakfast, lunch and dinner dining room menus available for in-room dining
  • Private breakfast and lunch seating in specialty restaurants on our Voyager and Freedom Class ships
  • Mattel® board games available to order for in-room entertainment for the kids Complimentary luggage valet service
  • Luxury spa bathrobes for use onboard
  • Complimentary pressing service on formal night
  • Priority departure with exclusive suite departure lounge featuring continental breakfast

We just got off the Pride on Sunday and felt like millionaires in the vista suite on deck four. I suppose a few extra perks would enhance the experience, but we were pleased with what we paid for. Especially the large balcony.

My husband and I have this booked for an October sailing!!! Can't wait!! We've been in a VS on deck 8 (which was fabulous)...but everyone says that deck 4 is best....so, I'm about to find out..... :D

Oh, I'm sure you'll love it. I sent a review of the room as well as our cruise. Still waiting for them to post it. It would be nice to hear your experience with the room. ENJOY!

I have to agree our shower was fantastic on the Victory. We had a COMBO Shower/Tub though

looking up your cabin on cruise line rooms (all one word) and see if there are any photos of the suite you have. its a great site to check out cabins that are not the norm like Portholes, Suites and 1A's

The reserved seating would never fly on Carnival -- there would be a vocal minority (that aren't in suites) who would be screaming class discrimination and such...

I found a couple of videos on line tht people have posted of the room. Neat to see exactly what it looks like beforehand! Love the closest space!

Thats a shame too. It works well on NCL and I don't remember anyone whining about it.

Just judging by the comments/looks I've received more than once when in the Platinum/Diamond (Concierge) line at guest relations... yep, it'd be a tough sell for some people.

Tom

No, we were not taken to the front of the line. Our personal escort came and got us after we checked in. Then he stood next to us as the line inched along, and as we got our Welcome Aboard Picture and swiped our card to board the ship. Then he escorted us up to our suite, showed us around, then disappeared.

The next time we saw him was on disembarkation day. He personally escorted us off the ship by a round about way so we got off very quickly. He even stayed with us until we claimed our bags.

I hope this has not come across to anyone as a complaint. Far from it! I'm just sharing our experience as suite customers who love to cruise. Being in that particular suite was a perk in itself! :D

Tom and Cheryl, Who do you call/contact to cruise in that category of suite?

Before it was able to booked by the general public I had a contact in Reservations Administration who always took care of us. She was a real gem. Unfortunately (for us at any rate!) she's retired now.

The last couple times I either called the above department or was on the receiving end of upsell calls for it - already being in a GS cabin puts you at the top of the list apparently.

That's probably why we got our upsell call. We had booked a GS cabin with extended balcony.

Thanks for the information about who to call.
