mikel24m Posted August 22, 2013 #26 Share Posted August 22, 2013 This is not true. We've gotten two free cruises and we don't gamble anywhere near "thousands". Anywho...we got great rooms both times, OP. Tell them to call. They give you your room number when you're on the phone. Have the ship pulled up and check it out while you're talking to the rep. That's what we did, and if we didn't like the first selection, we just asked for a different one. No problem. Congrats to your parents!!! :) Please explain it to me ,I would love to know what you play and your theory One cruise I lost well over $10k and our next cruise I got a $50 fruit basket, a photo coupon and some bottled water and $300 cruise cash. Thanks so much carnival  We play 2 or 3 days a week in real casinos and some day the cruise lines (except NCL from what I read) will learn how to treat gamblers
AnitaVacation Posted August 22, 2013 #27 Share Posted August 22, 2013 If they got offered a free cruise they are gambling thousands(depending on what they play). Comps from Carnival are not like here in AC :) NOT TRUE!! Last year I was offered a players club deal (free inside, but upgraded)...and I only play slots.....less than $100 day....usually break even or down about $100, no biggie.... Casino offers seem to be very random....Lucky them!!!
AnitaVacation Posted August 22, 2013 #28 Share Posted August 22, 2013 It's true that you must jump on these offers as soon as you get them. We got an extended balcony midship on the Legend and only have a 20-25 minute drive to the port. My wife waited a couple of days before calling so we will never know what might have been available had she called sooner. Yes....IF you are lucky enough to get a casino offer....jump on it right away (if possible)....they only have a certain number of cabins available.... FJS0974 Posted August 22, 2013 #29 Share Posted August 22, 2013 We also received the casino offer, 9 Days on the Splendor from NYC, extended balcony and casino credit for free! We could have taken the Drem Europe cruise, but the airfare to Spain was a killer, we live in NYC, so the pier is right here! If you get the offer call right away. caribnsnrklr Posted August 22, 2013 #30 Share Posted August 22, 2013 I was drooling over the Spain dream cruise as well but with flights at over a1000. Pp and with it being so short notice I had to skip out on that one as well. But I soooo wanted to take that one lol.
eas2225 Posted August 22, 2013 #31 Share Posted August 22, 2013 I too, got the offer. Haven't been on a Carnival cruise since 2010, so I was a bit skeptical. However, I called, got the details and my husband and I are now booked on the Pride in November, in a balcony on the Panorama deck for the grand total of $462.62. I never spent thousands in the casino, however, I did visit every day possible, so I was pretty much predictable. lol The cabins do go quickly though, so at least put it on hold for 24 hours if you need to. Bellicheck Brain Trust Posted August 22, 2013 #32 Share Posted August 22, 2013 The same thing happened to me...... On the Sunshine I got the premium bon voyage package, $500 cash at the cage, drinks on us card, bottle of wine at dinner, free steakhouse and ji ji asian kitchen. Then on my 2 day CTN outa NYC I get $100 cash and drinks card right away to be told I get nothing on my upcoming cruise next week. Spent the entire CTN in the casino...... makes no sense
island777girl Posted August 22, 2013 #33 Share Posted August 22, 2013 Also got the letter. Only play penny slots, but consistently play every day, not a big spender either. I do always contact Players club and let them know I am cruising and always get free fruit basket or some cash. Last year got invited on my first premier player club cruise. Got $1,100 on board cash and free drinks for both my husband and I while playing. I responded to this letter the next day and got a lido deck balcony for Liberty for both of us for just over $200 total. Couldn't pass it up. I think the letter offers must be random. tkportersat Posted August 22, 2013 #34 Share Posted August 22, 2013 I wish Norwegian still sailed out of Galveston, they definitely have a better Casino program. I booked through their Harrah's (Caesars) program, got free drinks every time I was in the casino -from day 1. Priority boarding, Got chocolate covered strawberries and cookies delivered in my cabin 3 times (7 day cruise) and then a few weeks after sailing got a free cruise offer. Now mind you I spent the least amount of money on this sailing than I ever have on any sailing or in Vegas (had a 10 month old with us). I wasn't able to take the free cruise (because I had a 10 month old, limited vacation time, etc.) My point is, I'm not a big spender but have spent quite a bit more money on Carnival and never gotten one casino offer. After reading this thread it is clear they don't have a consistent program. This is one area NCL definitely has Carnival beat.
sag1804 Posted August 26, 2013 #35 Share Posted August 26, 2013 this is totally random, because now I will get just strawberries and 100 bucks. WOW Thanks carnival after I lose a butload.
girlscruise2011 Posted August 26, 2013 #36 Share Posted August 26, 2013 I have sailed on Carnival 7 times since 2010 and am consistently in the Casino every day. Between DH and myself we can spend some money but we are mostly table game people. It seems to me that most of these offers go to Slot Players. Even though I give my card to the dealers to be rated, I wonder if they really ever do anything with it. One of my friends who plays penny slots, got a free cruise a few months ago and she's only been on 2 Carnival cruises and another friend, who played mostly slots in May on our Victory cruise, got a up to 55% off and $50 Casino cash offer in the mail last month. Me, never got anything in the mail or a free cruise but I do contact Players Club before I sail and use to get fruit baskets but now I get Casino Cash, not much but its something. L_K Posted August 26, 2013 #37 Share Posted August 26, 2013 I wrote to M. Bayona, Lead VIP Coordinator about this... His response his they give 10$ comp per 1000 points. The free cruises are luck of the draw when they have "distressed sailings".

sag1804 Posted August 27, 2013 #39 Share Posted August 27, 2013 Yeah, and Michael told me I lost 120 bucks on a cruise where I lost over 1,000. These things are so random. I'll take the 100 bucks on my next cruise and enjoy it. Then spend my own 100 the next night. It's whatever.
DirtyDawg Posted August 29, 2013 #40 Share Posted August 29, 2013 I could've written this exact same post myself. Tables and slots. Hey, at least I usually get the drink card on the first night now... Haven't had a winning trip on a Carnival ship since 2010. These free cruises make absolutely no sense! Meredith Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD You haven't had a winning trip on a Carnival ship since 2010. caseymorgan Posted August 29, 2013 #41 Share Posted August 29, 2013 I leave next week on a discounted cruise with some free play money. I'd love a drink card. A number of you contacted the Players Club to let them know you're coming. Did you call? Email someone? Who? Thanks!

clcjdn Posted August 30, 2013 #44 Share Posted August 30, 2013 I got the free cabin mailing. My parents (who cruised with us last time) did not. When we get casino offers, I usually get the most, then my dad, then my mom (like if I get 500, he gets 400, and she gets 300). So I reached out to Martin to figure out if they would get the same deal, he said their level of play did not "qualify" them for that offer. As such, I would contend that these offers are not "random". In addition, Martin informed me that the automatic free drink card kicks in if a player reached 5,000 points or more on their previous sailing. That being said, if you are at 4500 points on the last day, I would make sure to get over that number, so you don't have to wait to get 1500 on the next one before the drinks kick in. Thanks! Joe PS, we ended up on the 5 day Triumph with our offer, balcony for $95 in taxes/port fees.

I don't think the pit bosses share that info do they?
clcjdn Posted August 30, 2013 #46 Share Posted August 30, 2013 (edited) I don't know the answer to that question, but typically I hear >$25 a hand for 3-4 hours just to start to get their attention.....I went back and forth between tables and machines on my first cruise, but after that I have been mainly machines (except the BJ tournament) as I can see my points accumulate faster. I usually stick to video poker, but that depends on the progressive level of the royal flush.....luckily my wife hit a really good one a couple of trips ago, so it makes it easy to stick with it...... Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted August 30, 2013 #47 Share Posted August 30, 2013 How do you know how many points you have if you play table games. I don't think the pit bosses share that info do they? I found out on my last sailing, but not because I asked. They were having a drawing on the last evening and gave out 1 coupon for every 1,000 points earned. Since they gave me 20 coupons, I assume I had about 20,000 points. None of mine were pulled - I think it was for a free cruise. No matter though, I received a free cruise letter later that evening plus took advantage of another free cruise (Premier Casino) on the Freedom in November. clcjdn Posted August 30, 2013 #48 Share Posted August 30, 2013 (edited) I think its kind of like my experience in land based casinos......they aren't as good at tracking tables as they are with machines. In the end, they have some algorithm that cross references amounts bet with hours played, meaning at some amount you can trade dollar value of bet with time spent playing, but my gut tells me that the amount on the tables has to be quite large......I know the VP machines don't have good payback percentages (low 80s) but with a large royal (1.5x starting value or higher) the payback goes up into the 90s at least.......I think I got the bulk of my "status" on my trip on the Splendor when I logged 30+ hours of active play with my card in the machine chasing a $6K royal flush on a 7 day cruise. CardsFanJax Posted July 14, 2014 #49 Share Posted July 14, 2014 I hadn't cruised in 4 years but got a free Carnival cruise for 2 on an 8-nighter. Inside was free or we could have upgraded for a very reasonable fee. No idea how they decide what to offer to who...
