Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app on my iPad My guess is yes and that is why they decided to charge the OP after they insisted the meal was taken care of but then realized their mistake. God forbid if they covered the cost of two separate guests meals. Rare jimbo5544 Posted September 18, 2013 #234 Share Posted September 18, 2013 I apologize however, I don't quite understand your comment. Somebody in the steakhouse was supposed to get comped a meal. They mistakenly tried to comp the op. I wonder if the party that was supposed to be comped got comped. The company might go bankrupt! The casino comps a fair amount of meals at the steakhouse. We saw two while we were there on the Splendor in August. One of the comped parties was a real jerk to the staff. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app from my IPhone

Rare graphicguy Posted September 19, 2013 #237 Share Posted September 19, 2013 Just to let you all know, this issue has been resolved with the help of John Heald and speaking with the Guest Care department. Outstanding. Great to hear! It's a shame that it had to come to this. But, in the end, doing what was right prevailed.

Michael P Posted September 20, 2013 #243 Share Posted September 20, 2013 I'm very glad that this was resolved in an acceptable fashion. It's unfortunate that such a small thing had to be escalated to the level it was, but the OP did the right thing and stood her ground, (even in the face of some less than gracious comments). Cheers to you OP! Not for 'getting something for free ', but for doing nothing wrong, trying repeatedly to confirm , and simply standing up for yourself and not just letting it go. So, it's absolutely phenomenal that JH fixed what should have not been broken in the first place? Again, the man is doing a job...it's a good job, no doubt, but he is no different than ANY other CD. His job is just visible for every one of his followers to OOh and AAh over...that is the only difference. All this worship minimizes and belittles every other cruise director/hotel manager or other crew member that does there job quietly without all the adoration. He does have a following that is for sure. I like John, I think he is funny and a bit irreverent and certainly unique (although he does tend to "oversell" on the ships at times). To your comment on other CD's I have noticed a plethora of CD's who seem to be leaving the ranks and moving on. I wonder what the stimulas for that is? We've never worshiped any cruise director, why would anyone exalt one person over another? I haven't paid attention to JH, nor have we ever been on a cruise with him being CD, if we have, we never paid attention to him. Some here act like he's President and CEO of Carnival and captain of a ship. Sheesh!
rdler Posted September 24, 2013 #249 Share Posted September 24, 2013 Who is the one with the perpetually dirty underpants? John Heald, or Gerry Cahill? I can never remember. However, I am glad the OP got the problem solved.
