Beds on the Jewel?

My first and only cruise was on the Princess Star. Well the cruise was great, the beds were not.

 

As I'm considering my next cruise on the Jewel of the Seas, I'm wondering what the beds/ mattresses are like on the Jewel of the Seas?

 

Do they have, and will I need, a mattress topper for the bed?

We didn't have a problem with ours in March. No topper required. The sofa bed according to the kids was not as comfy.

The ships of RCI have wonderful beds including the JOS a favorite of ours. Enjoy !!

Don't know how common since it was our first RCCL cruise but when we were on JOS (10/5) our mattress was quite hard and uncomfortable. We asked for, and received, a mattress topper but it didn't help much. We were grateful to get home to our own bed.

Royal did a bedding overhaul. They even sell it now. Not sure if it went out fleet wide or just to the ships that went to dry dock. I imagine it would be an easy roll out to the entire fleet though.

Yes...ALL of the RCI ships have the new, pillowtop bedding. Quite an improvement over what they used to have!

We were in an accessible OV room, maybe it simply hadn't been updated? It was truly uncomfortable sleeping for a week. :confused:

I can't tell you how comfy RCI's beds are. I can tell you that years ago we loved the Carnival Sleep System bedding. That being said, bed comfort is very subjective, as is asking who has better food. There is no one magic answer for everyone.

The bedding update was finished a few years ago.

I have never had a problem with bedding on any ship on any cruiseline.

But then, I stay in shape and don't have the typical "bad back"...

Just got off a 14 day Jewel trip. Mattress was somewhat saggy. Not as comfortable as most of our cruises. Saw a lot of people requesting egg crate toppers. However, we slept well without it.

They are what they are. We're travelling regardless of whatever the beds are like in the hotels/cruise ships. We'll deal with them good or bad, not letting online mattress reviews dictate our travels.:)
