# of people for beach cabanas

I've read a lot of different reviews about the beach cabanas and was wondering if I could get some clarification. I reserved a beach cabana at Nellie's beach for our April cruise. We are a group of 8 (3 kids, 5 adults) and I was told only 1 person needs to reserve. We are on 3 different reservations and was wondering if was going to be a problem for all 8 of us to use the beach and the cabana? Most likely we would spend most of the time on the beach and not in the cabana so I'm not that concerned with the size of the cabana. This is our first time at Labadee and not sure how it really works with the beach and cabanas. Thanks for your help!

We've done cabanas a few times, and they have told us that the cabanas accomodate a maximum of 6 people. Maybe you will have a difference experience, but I'd at least have a plan B.

Nellie's beach is one of the public beaches. So I would just set up some of the regular beach loungers as close to your assigned cabana as possible so that everyone in your party will have at least a seat and can come and go to your cabana.

We were just at Nellie's and always set up our lounges practically at the waters edge off to the far side. This was right underneath the corner cabanas.

I think the 6 person limit was in place because only 6 people got wrist band to eat at the upgraded buffet. Since that perk has been removed, I don't think it matters as Nellies is a public beach.

Hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense.:)

It seems so. People reported that several months ago. The upgraded buffet is now limited to the Barefoot Beach (gold card) people.

Good to know. As if looks now, I'll be one point short of Diamond when I head there in 2015.

We are going with our children on a cruise. Maybe someone could help with this question.

My DH and I have a GS and have rented cabana on Barefoot Beach. Was wondering if anyone has every rented 2 cabanas with only one of us having a GS? Want us all to be together.

The perk of the upgraded buffet has been removed?

I read in a thread over on the "Private Island" boards, that they removed the upgraded buffet perk because Barefoot Beach was being "overrun" by non-suite passengers from the other cabanas. So then RCI removed the "upgrade buffet" wording from the description of the non Barefoot Beach cabanas. But I have read that some people who booked their cabana before the wording change have been able to battle for the upgraded buffet at Barefoot Beach.

Its one of those things that has me on the fence about a Cabana, on the one hand it would be nice to have a home base at Labadee but on the other hand 200 bucks is a lot of money for some shade, loungers, and a couple bottles of water.

Good to know there is a 6 person "limit", since we're just a group of 4.

We had a Barefoot Beach cabana on Labadee this month while cruising on Freedom OTS. We are D+ and not in a Suite hence no Gold Card. We did have the upgraded buffet.

I did not have a chance to talk to Rahul about the statements on CC that said Barefoot Beach cabanas were solely for Suite guests.

I had contacted Rahul a week before the cruise to request a cabana.

That was really nice of Rahul to get you a cabana. It's happened to us before too, but I believe in our case the Concierge felt like all the suite people had already gotten first crack at the cabanas.

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Friends of ours booked a Nellies beach Cabana before the new rules went into effect for suite quests only.

Apparently, we are grandfathered in to receive the upgraded buffet and water and other amenities.

I can't exactly remember the date but the cabana was booked this past summer.

I believe it is still 6 people per cabana for the wristband for the buffet.

Hope this helps:)

Bob, this was true in our case as well. Suite guests have first dibs for cabanas in their area. Did not mean to infer otherwise.

For those that may not be aware, the Concierge must wait until the evening before docking at Labadee to issue Barefoot cabanas to other than Suite guests. My email was to ask him to put us on a standby list. Hope this helps.

We were on Oasis last week and rented a cabana at Nellie's Beach. Here is the info you are looking for:

1. Only one person needs to rent the cabana. When you arrive in Labadee give your cabana voucher (you will get it in your stateroom when you board) to the main cabana attendant (at the entrance to the Barefoot Beach). He will then tell you which cabana has been assigned to you at Nellie's Beach and give you six wrist bands that allow cabana access.

2. Walk to where the cabana attendant for the Nellie's Beach cabanas (just in front of the bar behind Nellie's Beach) is and he will then escort you yo your cabana. If you booked the cabana prior to mid October (we did) you will get a cooler filled with ice and four bottles of Evian water and at lunch time the Nellie's Beach cabana attendant will walk you over to the upgraded buffet (grilled shrimp on skewers and grilled steak in addition to burgers, hot dogs, etc). You will also get four floating beach mats.

3. Cabanas have access from both the pathway behind them and the beach or directly from the water. Have all people that exceed your six cabana wrist bands get beach loungers and set them up right in front of your cabana if the beach is right in front of your cabana. Not all cabanas are on the beach. Some are over water and have a ladder to the water.

4. If you tip your cabana attendant when you arrive they don't seem to enforce the maximum six person rule. The cabana next to us had about a dozen people in and out of it throughout the day. Just walk in from the beach or swim in from the water if you are not wearing a wrist band.

5. Labadee is hot. The ceiling fan in the cabana is a nice treat. The cabana also has a plug in it.

We found having a cabana was great, albeit somewhat pricey. Nice central place to hang out in and to meet between activities.

Hope this helps.
