If you go to the casino they will change large bills for smaller ones but they will only give you 10x $1 Bills on each visit.

What i do is change up a $20 into 2 x$5 and 10x $1,s, i do this throughout the cruise and it gives enough small notes for tips and for ashore in ports.:)

You can change bills at the kiosks at guest services now. They are so handy!

Bring your prescription meds, especially opiates and narcotics, in their original bottles with labels and current dates... put them in carry-on luggage and keep track of that bag! Don't take them ashore in ports-of-call unless you absolutely must take (consume) one during the visit.

Curious...did you have time to go back and get it?

Hi Teresa,

Yes, actually my husband went back for it, while I got in line and checked myself and the three bags in. I'm an obsessive compulsive type and always arrive at the airport a full two hours or more early, so there was enough time, but just barely. That taxi driver must have broken every speeding limit along that route. Hubby tipped him BIG; the fellow definitely earned it. Also the airline representative who checked me in was really helpful, too, in that she told me to just bring my husband and that last suitcase directly up to the counter when he arrived. Skip the line. She slapped that luggage tag on the bag, glanced at hubby's passport, and sent us straight through to the security line. Got to the gate just as they were boarding.

Well there are always some that bring more than their share so if you forget yours and ask nicely, they might loan you some. I said might. :D

I have oodles to share, problem is some just want to leave it packed away at home and write a scathing cruise review:D:D:D

We've never left anything at home but on one cruise, we stayed at a hotel the day before the cruise. We left our phone charging cord at the hotel. Luckily we were staying at the same hotel the day after the cruise.

I went to the desk and ask them if they found it. The lady escorted me down to the bowels of the hotel and pulled out two huge boxes of phone charging cords. She said "If you find yours, take it. If you don't find yours, take some anyway!" Out of those two boxes and literally hundreds of cords, mine wasn't in there.

Glad it worked out for you. I would have been a nervous wreck!

Just curious we will be headed out for our first Cruise on next Saturday at 4am. What is the #1 thing you have forgotten that you need the most. And hopefully nobody says passport..lol Thanks in advance :)

Funny how your brain works. How come AFTER you leave home you start thinking about "did I remember?" I remember I forgot my bathing suit one (Walmart) another time we got home after 14 days and found that we left in the dark and I left a bunch of lights on. Anyway, I've found that you plan much better for your first cruises than for the subsequent one. I'm always remembering something at the last minute.

A wine bottle stopper. You can get wine glasses and wine bottle openers from the steward but no stoppers.

We had to keep our opened bottles of wine vertical or drink the whole bottle in one sitting. Both solutions were practiced.

Why not just put the cork back in?

Unless it's Champagne/sparkling, in which case yes, you would need a Bouchon.

Reading glasses. We had a cocktail party to attend (immediately) before catching the redeye LAX-MIA last month. My DH forgot to transfer his readers from the day-time shirt he was wearing to his dressy guayabera, but I had a pair of those skinny ones in the "permanent" travelling compartment of my daypack (personal bag).

I did not bring cough suppressant and had to buy on board. Once home I discovered there are gel-caps of dextromethorphan available, so they are going in my permanently packed toiletries!

I also use a packing list, so we've never forgotten anything that can be packed in advance. The things we sometimes end up forgetting are the things you need to grab in the morning. Last cruise, we forgot to grab our water bottles, which were chilling in the fridge for the train ride to the departure port. No big deal, though it would have been nice to have water bottles with filters on them for the cruise.

Other than that, pack as much as you can the day before or even earlier if you want, and make yourself a list of all the things you need to grab the morning you leave. Any electronics charging overnight? Bathroom items that you'll use in the morning? If you have kids, a certain blanket or stuffed animal that NEEDS to come with you? You can use the same list to cover last-minute things that you need to do before you leave the house, like turning off lights, unplugging appliances, making sure pets have enough food until their first sitter comes to check on them, etc. I put everything on the list ESPECIALLY if we're leaving early in huge morning. At 4am without coffee, I DEFINITELY need a reminder to, say, unplug the humidifier for the week.

I opened them with a corkscrew. I would worry about the wine leaking if I put the bottle on its side. Can't ever waste wine.

Nothing. I start my packing list as soon as I book a cruise and tweak it during the following months/weeks/days.

The last week I make a check off list of things that need to be done.

That way I don't forget anything. I have to make sure I also include DH's items.

So far that has worked wonderfully. Nothing has been left behind on any of our many cruises.

Put the cork back in "top first" and leave the bottle upright. Not sure why you would turn it on it's side. Unless it's a really short cork, there is no reason to put the corkscrew through the cork while opening the bottle.

I am pretty carefree when it comes to packing. Don't use lists. Don't take hi-liters, duct tape, shoe racks, etc. I used to pack the night before departure, but DW won't let me do that any longer. So far, knock on wood, I haven't missed anything important. I suppose when it comes right down to it, the essentials are passports, travel docs, and meds. Anything else could be either obtained or ignored. However, forgetting an entire suitcase might put a crimp in things:)

On our family cruise my 80 year old Grandfather-in-law left his wallet on the back seat of the cab that dropped us off at the pier. It was a very hectic few minutes after we realized this. I was at a loss standing at the terminal with family in tow. He had his passport in his pocket, but credit cards, money, and ID were in the cab. Word of advice, ALWAYS get the cab # you are traveling in. When we called the cab company, we were told hundreds of cruisers forget things and there was no way to help us without the name of the cab driver or the number on the cab. Good news, I checked in with the Carnival representative at the terminal and she thankfully announced that the cab driver had noticed the wallet and brought it into the agent. Thank goodness he remembered the Ship he dropped us off at. Crisis avoided. :D
