Thanks Amy!

I'm on the same itinerary - sailing Feb 21.

For those days at sea, was there much entertainment during the day at poolside? I see that Sean Golden (Guitarist) makes an appearance but not much more than that. Are they playing piped-in music for much the day when poolside at sea?

I'm not getting any good vibes regarding the entertainment! :(

- Dave

good question. I do remember the party band poolside now and then and I do remember some piped in music. We did not spend alot of time poolside this cruise so may not be the most reliable when it comes to this question.

Thank you so much for newsletters. Deeply appreciated.

your welcome!!

Thanks so much. We are on the April 4th sailing.

One question. In St. Thomas did you dock at Havensight or the other dock? Hope it was the first.

Thanks.

Pat

Amy,

Did the warn you about the Mosquitos in St Maarten?

we did not see any signage re: the mosquitos and the virus. We went to Maho beach and no signage. we were not on french side so they may have posted something there.

Happy sailing.

Thank you so much for posting these! I am really looking forward to reading everything.

One question: Do you happen to recall when the Connections Party was scheduled?

Thanks again, Kathy

it was saturday the first sea day. we did not get a letter just a voicemail from the captains club host. we met in cellars master. had a great turnout and met some great people. we probably had 50-60 (if not more) people in attendance.

Thanks for the luggage valet docs, but sure disappointed Southwest was listed. :(:(

Used it for SW a couple of years ago and was looking forward to use it again.

I know. we used them in the past and loved it.

this time we did the self walk off program since we had a 1030 am flt. luckily everything worked out and we were through security and at the gate by 830 am. went fast. lots of taxi's available.

Thanks Amy - was it at the usual 10:00?

Also, did I hear something about an earthquake? I missed that one on the news - did you feel it on the ship?

Doug

the cc gathering was around 10 or 1030...how sad I cant remember. lol

yes, we did sail through an earthquake that shook the ship. It was around midnight and we had just returned from the martini bar. I was in the restroom when the ship started shaking...my spouse wanted to know what in the world I was doing in the bathroom:eek:...after we stopped laughing at his comment i assured him it was not me and to go onto the balcony to see if he could see anything...of course he couldn't. The shaking stopped and all seemed ok.

the next day we were on the helipad for sailaway from st thomas and jim, my husband, asked the officer about the shaking and they confirmed we sail through the earthquake that was off the shores of puerto rico. This happened monday janaury 13, 2014 with a magnitude of 6.4 or 6.5 depending on which article you read.

It was a different experience for sure.

Here are the acitivites from our roll call...

* Met at Bimini Boatyard pre-cruise for appetizers and drinks as they have a good appetizer menu. 20+ cc'ers met and had dinner.

* Welcome aboard lunch was hosted by Bill-WI at Bistro on 5. Many folks joined and paid the $5.00 to dine together as a group.

* Sail away- met at Sunset Bar and then several cc'ers (wearing their pink shirts, Boa's and hats) posed for the Port Everglades Webcam.

* Connections Party was the first sea day in Cellar Masters. The time was around 10 am. Great gathering.

* After connections party a small group did a yankee swap gift exchange.

* A large group did a Slot Pull. The group met in the casino and had a blast, I hear!

* Cabin Crawl was held the second Saturday....third sea day. We did a poker run along the way. The top crawler won around $ 120.00...alot of fun! We had a large group of crawlers...a big thanks to Ruth for creating the paddles for the crawl!!

great fun was had by all.

Here is a list of island activities listed on our roll call....some we did and others we did not.

st. thomas- since we have been to st. thomas many times we initally were not going to get off the ship. a friend told us about Bones Rum for pour your own rum drinks. It was alot of fun.

Others did the Nightwind or Rumbaba sailing adventures. I heard they were great. Also a group of cc'ers went to the Greenhouse restaurant...which happens to be next to Bones rum :D

st. kitts- having been here many times before, we stayed on the ship and enjoyed our cabin and the premium drink package.

Others took a tour with Beulah Mills with lunch at royal palms restaurant at the Ottleys Plantation Inn.

Barbados- we did a 5 hour catamaran sailing with Silver Moon Catamaran. We have sailed with them before and they did not disappoint. The food was better last time but still had a great sail. They are very accomodating and provide a high quality sail and snorkel adventure.

Others sailed with R&R excursions...randcruisingbarbados.com and Calabaza cat sailing.

Dominica- again, having been here multiple times we just shopped around downtown a bit. I will say the downtown area felt safer and cleaner than our last visit 2 years ago.

others did a tour to Ti TOu Gorge & Trafalgar Falls and then lunched at Papillote gardens. one of our cc friends said this was a great tour...I just dont know the name of the company.

st. maarten- we got off the ship around 1030 am since we had some rain in the morning. We headed to Maho beach around 1115 am arriving around noon. we missed the large KLM landing but did catch a few others. word is out about this beach, the sunset bar and the dangerous landing strip as it was the most crowded we have ever seen....REALLY, REALLY crowded. trying to get a drink was nearly impossible.

Others went to Holland House for buckets of beer and chair rentals and picked up a few baubles at Ray jewelry store.

hope this helps!

happy sailing.

Hi Amy :) We met on this Equinox itinerary February, 2011. We have repeated the last two years and sail on her again next Friday the 31st. Thank you for posting all of the dailies. I kept mine from last year but in scanning yours it looks as though there are some changes. So happy to hear you had a great time, I know we will enjoy ours as well. All the best and happy cruising.

Cheers!
