Join Crown and Anchor while on board of first cruise?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Will be taking my first Royal cruise this winter, a 5 day cruise, and have heard people talk about the crown and anchor society and from my understand that after the cruise is over I will be eligible for gold status. Where I am confused is that I have read/heard on blogs that I can join crown and anchor while on board the ship. My question is can I join while I am on board the ship since that this is my first cruise with Royal? If so can i join the first day or do I have to wait till the start of the fourth day, due to it taking 3 nights worth of cruising to be gold?

Just wondering because the milkshake discounts and other interest me.

Here are the gold benefits as that I know about them.

We just went on our first RCI cruise in January, when we inquired about joining C&A onboard we were told we had to wait until after our cruise. It took almost 2 weeks for our cruise to populate in their system. We were able to enroll after that.

You can sign up for it, but you can't become C&A member during this cruise.

(Even later when you are already a member, it takes some days after the cruise before they credit the points to you.)

We filled out the form and submitted it on our first cruise, but it did not become "effective" until after the cruise was complete. Sorry, but you will not be eligible for the discounts you mentioned until your 2nd cruise with RC.

Since you say this is your first cruise with RC you might be looking at the wrong Gold. You did not say but unless you are in a Grand Suite or above I think you might be confusing the Gold C&A status with the Gold card that goes with the upper suites. Just wanted to bring that up before you ordered your milk shake.

The benefits the OP lists are Gold C&A benefits and have nothing to do with being in a Suite.

They have must have changed the benefits for first time cruisers as Diamonds did not use to get all of that. I stand corrected since I am sure that you know.

They have been the same coupons for quite a while with very minor changes recently when they started loading them on your seapass. Here is the link to the coupons for all the different levels.

So, since we are on this topic, what are the benefits of having C&A membership? My DH and I became members after our first cruise 4 years ago. We are going on another cruise in 2015. So, since we only have 1 cruise under our belt, are there going to be any benefits for us on our next cruise? We are going to be in a balcony in 2015.

Thanks!

It took almost 2 weeks for our cruise to populate in their system.

While one week is more typical, up to two weeks is not uncommon.

A bit off subject, but as most people don't usually have their next cruise booked that close after their last, the time taken to post the credits from a given cruise would not be an issue regarding C & A status on their next cruise.

However if you are on a B2B - which RCI recognizes as two separate cruises - and your tier level will change after the first cruise, if you contact C & A in advance they will assist in having the first cruise credits recognized prior to the second so that you can enjoy that new tier level on the second leg of your B2B. That can also usually be handled on board the first week with the Loyalty Ambassador.

Also, that being said, tier changes mid-cruise (which are quite common) are not recognized during the cruise in which your tier would change. You would not be entitled to the new tier benefits until your next cruise. There are reported exceptions but they are typically not the case.

With one cruise you would be considered Gold and have the coupons available to you as shown in the first post (or links in other posts). Once you get to Platinum (approximately 5 cruises depending on length) you can also get balcony discounts.

The Q&A loyalty program is designed to give enticements or perks to repeat customers. The more you cruise the more benefits you get. It is a designed to get you back.

You are entitled to the points only after the completion of each cruise.
