Can you call from one ship to another for free?

Recommended Posts

We're going to be on the Pride the same time as friends of ours will be on the miracle.

Is it possible to call from one ship to another without paying a fee?

Nope; whats next? someone will want the couch removed from their room?

No, here's why:

Each ship has it's own phone system and most calls are going to be within the ship, those are free. They probably only have a handful of phone uplinks via satellite for analog calls, or a set amount of data bandwidth for digital/IP calls. Any calls that traverse those uplinks will be charged based on the originating extension on the ship. If it is a passenger room it will be charged on the passengers bill. If it is a ship or office extension it will be charged and paid by Carnival.

Same way a hotel phone system works when hotels charged per call, but rather than analog lines, PRI channels or SIP trunks it is via satellite.
