Statue of Liberty - Port or Starboard

When leaving from NYC, will the Statue of Liberty be port or starboard? Thanks!

Starboard. Always. Even the Staten Island Ferry is starboard leaving Manhattan. Port on the trip from SI to Manhattan.

As already noted, the Statue will be to starboard when you leave New York. However, I strongly suggest that you be up top on an open deck, so you can walk back and forth for the amazing views on both sides. The sailaway from New York Harbor is truly one of the most magnificent sailaways in the world.

As already noted, the Statue will be to starboard when you leave New York. Try to be topside...among other things is the NCL tradition of playing Lee Greeenwood's "God Bless The USA", just as the ship sails past The Statue.

Personally, I don't think so. While better than just being on one side, you still won't have the same vast, expansive view. You really want to be able to see 180 degrees of Manhattan; you can't from the aft. And you certainly won't get to see this:

Of course it will !*****!

When I went to Europe in the summer of '61 on a military troop steamer the

engineers had just begun to string the wires to support the deck structure.

When I came back in the winter of '64 the bridge was just about completed.

It is an awesome site as well as anything else to do with New York City !

 

When you leave the pier YES the Liberty Statue will be on the Starboard as

well as Ellis Island and views of New Jersey in the distance.

On the Port side will be downtown NYC and Battery Park and then the East River.

When opposite of the Statue of Liberty - Govenors Island will be in view on the Port.

When passing under the Verranzano Narrows Bridge - Staten Island is Starboard and on the Port is Brooklyn.

The New York Marathon is run over this bridge.

Don't let foul weather upset your plans the views no matter what they are are

priceless and you may not get them again unless you are sailing round trip out of NYC

although the return may be in twilight morning darkness - the lights will be impressive !

Lady Liberty and Ellis Island to your right, and the beautiful, albeit forever changed, NYC skyline to the left - it's definitely a top-side moment in my opinion - and being up there, and going under the Verazzano :eek: is a must!
