Never again

You think Spring Break is bad......Never, ever cruise during Holy Week. Never in my life have I been on a ship (or anywhere else) where there were so many rude, disrespectful, children. And No adult supervision. I have vented to Carnival by both an e-mail and the survey sent post cruise. We were told there was over 1000 kids on this cruise. I will continue to cruise Carnival but will be mindful of the time of year we book. This was on the Carnival Magic out of Galveston.

Sorry to hear that the "unsupervised" children ruined your cruise.

It really bothers me that people get on these ships, with their children, and are basically like, ok kids, have a great cruise. Meet us back here, on the Lido next Sunday.

It's like they expect everyone else to watch their kids.

We see it on all of our cruises, to a degree. But I have ZERO issues saying something to a kid that is out of control. I don't care if his/her parents are around or NOT.

Hope your next cruise is better!:D:D:D

I always vacation, whether it be a cruise or land vacation, in the off season so as to avoid kids. Nothing against them, just choose to avoid them at all costs on vacation. It makes for a much more pleasant holiday. ;)

This is exactly the main reason we booked for the 2nd week in December, rather than later in December. After that 2nd week, kids will be out for Christmas break and I wanted NO part of that. Our kids are grown, and weren't EVER allowed to run as they pleased, so tolerating this generation of kids is not something I care to do at all.

We will never cruise over a holiday, or from May-August, unless it's an adult only cruise.

OMG we had a girls adult vacation, and we embraced all the kids. It was a blast. We did not encounter one rude or disrespectful child, maybe it was it was your attitude towards the situation. Just saying.....:D

There was a lot of us on this cruise that tried to remind these children about their manners. They didn't understand us. It was really bad, under-age drinking, playing slots in the casino, running everywhere and at all hours of the day and night. Even saw a group of 6-10 year old girls hanging out in the buffet after 1:00am. The wait staff in the buffet and MDR were just as upset as a lot of us were, but..... nothing done. At one point a group of young teen and pre-teens were in the hot tub throwing glasses in the air trying to catch them. Missed some, got out of the hot tub and ran away,

and they were putting bubbles in the hot tub.

I know not to cruise in March because of spring breakers, all summer because of school being out, end of November for Thanksgiving, Last two weeks of December and first two weeks of Year Years because of Christmas and Winter breaks, and now have to look on the calender to see when Easter is.

It would be a lot easier if parents just took responsibility for their children and their actions. Just saying

If that's the case, I guess they could have done more.

Thats a bummer. Sorry it didn't go well. We were on the same week (Easter week) last yr and had 1500 kids. They were actually pretty good. The only issue I had were the parents saving chairs for them while they played on the slides all day.

They did get annoying in hot tubs or near ice cream machines but nothing crazy like I have seen on the boards or experienced on other cruises.

I understand what you mean about unruly children. We always dropped our daughter off at Circle C and picked her up. If she wasn't with the organized group, she was with us. However one time during the scavenger hunt they were told not to run and not to use the elevators. Our daughter has also been told by us to never be alone. Well the girls she was with were running and decided to use the elevator as well. She tried to stop them but they ignored her. Her choice was, stay with them and do what they had been told not to do, or let them go and be by herself which she is not supposed to do. She stayed with them. Hard decision for an 11 year old. But she did her best to control the other girls as much as she could.

I was on the Liberty for New Years this year. We encountered the same behavior. Never again on a holiday on Carnival. I'm hopeful that my up coming Alaska cruise will redeem the cruise line for me.

There were a lot more problems than what I stated. Several elderly people were hurt by kids running into them or pushing them out is the way. And yes there were some very nice and polite children on this cruise. And yes you could say there is a certain amount of sour grapes on my part. The last night I was almost pushed down into elevator and would have landed hard when a bunch of boys was trying to rush the elevator if not for my DH.

We went on our first family cruise in March during Spring Break. My kids (14 and 11) had no desire to go to the camps and preferred to hang with us, which was fine by me it was a family cruise. Can't remember any run ins with "kids" but do remember 20'ish people who could have been raised much better. All around rude, loud, obnoxious, and quite mean to kids already playing in the pools - so bullys.

Fortunately, we ended up meeting other families with kids on board who had kids that were well behaved like ours, which seems to be a rarity these days. SMH

Better cruisin' to you in the future!

Why did you smash ice cream cones in each hole? That sounds like something a child would do.

Sorry, I could not resist. 1000 kids is allot of kids. We cruise with our two but they know to tow the line or there will be big trouble.

I agree! We are in our early 50,s and have no children but kids on a cruise have never bothered us? Its their vacation too:) we stay away from the main pool and other areas they seem to congregate at and if they look like they are riding the elevators up and down I start pressing all the buttons when I get in:D:D:D

Cranky rude "The World Owes Me Something" Old people are much more of a pain on a cruise than kids:)

I agree with the OP completely. I will avoid at all costs cruising during summer break, Christmas break and Easter break. I have no problem with well behaved kids and feel they are welcome anywhere - as long as they are not acting like animals.

However, I have much more disdain for the parents of the misbehaving kids than the children themselves. There are billions of kids on the planet - your kid is not special, he or she is not entitled to special treatment, he or she is not as cute as you think, not as smart as you think, not as well behaved as you believe, and others don't think your spawn are god's gift to civilization. In fact, the more often you have to remind others of how special your kid is, the more likely they are ugly, stupid, and/or horribly behaved.
