Thanks so much for this info. I guess we will just go to the dock and get on a water taxi to the Hilton.

The Hilton provides free water shuttle from hotel to St. Marks Square. Too bad they don't provide shuttle to cruise port.

I am writing this from my room at the Hilton. Just go to the water taxi desk in the arrivals hall and pay for your taxi, then walk down to the dock (10 minutes Max) and they will direct you to your boat.

You are in for a great treat, esp if you can get a room on the canal. We have a hard time tearing ourselves away from the window watching all the activity below, taxis, shuttles, Alilaguna, running constantly not to mention the cruise ships passing so close you feel like you can touch them!

We were very fortunate to be upgraded to exec floor, which includes breakfast, wine, snacks, etc. This is a Hilton like no other, just beautiful. And this view is to die for. I wasn't sure I was going to like being off of Venice proper, but it has Ben great. We had an excellent dinner at Alta Nella a few bridges away (but on Guidecca) last night. Home tomorrow after almost a month ;(

Thanks, Cathy, for the helpful information. How wonderful to have been travelling for a month!!

I will follow your directions to the water taxi..thank you.

We purposely got a Hilton credit card to give us the ability to be upgraded to the Executive level and have free breakfast at the Molino Stucky. Trying not to get my hopes up on a canal view but we'll see. Any chance you were able to check in early?

And Altanella is on my list of possible restaurants. Great to know you liked it.

Safe travels home!

I think we checked in about 1 or 2, no problem. We ended up taking alilaguna this morning to VCE, had the time since our flight wasn't until 1:10. I hear a lot of complaints about the airport but it was very easy, no issues whatsoever. Now we're at the gate in Munich awaiting our carriage, hated to say goodbye to Venezia!

Cathy, can one just walk up to the water taxi desk (booth #71) in the arrivals hall at Marco Polo and buy a shared taxi ticket or is this just for the Hilton? My brother will be joining us in Venice next month, looked at booking online but you need min 2 people, but he's travelling alone. Thanks:)

Tell them at desk you want shared water taxi; or you can say you have X amount of people in your water taxi and take your brother with you. He can pay you back. If you depart Marco Polo airport on a day when the cruise ships are not there; then the lines are not long.

While it not cheap, for us, it is worth the expense at €270. With the VIP Arrival Services, a Blitz Rep meets you directly at your plane and escorts you through Passport and Customs (We are flying in Direct from US, so this is our 1st entry point to the EU), a porter will meet us a baggage claim as well to collect our luggage and take it to the Water Taxi Pier while we are picked up on a car and driven to the pier where we will be met by our private water taxi (also hired though Blitz, but you can hire whatever water taxi you wish) and taken to our hotel where we are staying pre-cruise (the hotel recommended Blitz to us). We are also using Blitz for VIP Departure, where they meet you upon arrival to the airport, escort us through Check-in and Baggage Check, then through security. We then have access to the VIP lounge until boarding time, then escorted to the plane or driven to our plane if we leave from a remote stand. The Venice Airport can become a mess as the day goes on with long lines for check-in and security....

Is that price for arrival and departure or just for airport to hotel? I looked at their site and the gorgeous boat and would love to do it but I can get a meet at arrivals, drive to water taxi and private water taxi to hotel for €140 with limousinevenice.com so if it's €270 for one way, I don't think I can justify it

Thank you for sharing information with us.

Catherine

AF-1, maybe I didn't make myself clear, my brother will be arriving Marco Polo by himself, we get there a few days earlier. Online booking for the shared water taxis stipulates min 2 passengers, which is why I want to know if he can just go to the desk in the airport and buy a single ticket.

We asked about a shared taxi for 30 euros. They will only take you to St. Mark's, then you can take the free shuttle to the hotel from there. Works if you don't have a lot of luggage.

The downside of Alilaguna is that it's 1 hour 40 minutes door to door from the Hilton, either going to or from the airport. In our case, we happened to get up early and were ready to go so we went for it and still had more than enough time at the airport, even considering that we had checked our big bags at the Left Luggage office and had to retrieve them and do some repacking. We really thought the airport was fine, not confusing or hectic at all.

He should be able to get a ticket and share with someone else; or he can take vaparetto to St. Marks; then transfer to Hilton's free shuttle.

The biggest problem with water taxis is: they are limited in space so you can't take huge american size 28" suitcases. You are normally allowed two medium bags each; which is 23/25" bag..Otherwise is your bags are oversized they will charge extra

I will be at the hikton the night before my cruise May 19 What is the best way to get there from the rain station

I assume you mean train station. If so, this is located near Piazza Roma; from there hop on Vaparetto taxi to St. Marks, from there you can take free Hilton Shuttle; or just get regular water taxi from Piazza Roma boat dock to Hilton.
