annasnanna13 Posted October 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2014 My husband and I (seniors, retired military and previous cruisers) are planning a cruise with our daughter, son-in-law and teenage granddaughter. Would booking together or separatly be better
paul929207 Posted October 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2014 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Probably won't make much difference. A TA might give you some OBC. Some cruise lines give a discount to military (retired and active) or some OBC.
CruiserBruce Posted October 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2014 Agree, it probably won't make a lot of difference. Each cruise line policy is different. Some might allow a discount (for military, for example) to be given to multiple cabins, other may not. A Travel Agent might be very helpful on this. Once you are booked, if you do it separately, make sure the two reservation number are linked. That way dining assignments will also be linked. cb at sea Posted October 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2014 No matter who books, the person who's name is on the cabin gets the points/bonus/etc...that the cruise line might offer. Unless you're paying for everyone, let each cabin book itself.
SPacificbound Posted October 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2014 My husband and I (seniors, retired military and previous cruisers) are planning a cruise with our daughter, son-in-law and teenage granddaughter. Would booking together or separatly be better I am taking this to mean you and your spouse will be in one cabin and your daughter and her family in another, is that correct? If the above is what you mean then I would book separately, and then you can later have the cruises linked for dining.
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 30, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2014 I would go to a TA and book this all together to get the maximum amenities as originally mentioned. As CruiserBruce mentioned, have the two reservations linked together. Keith
dorisis Posted October 30, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 30, 2014 When we travel with family members or friends, we ask our TA to link the bookings
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2014 Welcome to Cruise Critic. You all definitely need to see a TA in your area together. Mention about your having been in the military.

CruiserBruce Posted October 30, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 30, 2014 Book together so that you are linked together for dinner and whatnot. That is, unless you don't want to eat dinner with your daughter and granddaughter. You don't need to "book together" to eat together. All you need is to have your bookings "linked", so you will be seated together. The bookings can be done separately.

Beside, mistakes still happen. I was in a group where we were all linked together and still got assigned different tables that were not even close to each other.
