Recent Casino Match Play

We're on Imagination right now, and there is no Match Play, sadly, according to our bar waiter. I don't know if it is because Imagination & Inspriation are generally only doing the shorter 3-4 night itineraries.

I noticed that the bar menu didn't list Classic Cocktails, that section is now titled Tropical Classics. We were on Inspriation in Feb of this year, and they still had Classic Cocktails at that time. I just looked back at the scans I did of the bar menus to be sure. Perhaps when they take Match Play away, the change the bar menus to reflect the title change.

Basically it means (Using the red/black roulette example above) that you have a %47.37 of getting $5 back on every $8.75 "classic drink" you buy bringing the average cost of a "classic drink" down to $4.61 per drink :D

So do I understand this right...If you bought 2 drinks and played both one on black and one on red you would have about a 96% chance of winning $5 and about %4 chance of losing $10.

Would they let you do that?

Thanks

Yes you can do that but that insures that you will never win over 50% of the time and probably 48% of the time.

If you bet one at a time the odds are you will win about 48% of the time but there is always the possibility that you will win 100% of the time or lose 100% of the time. So if you feel lucky only bet one at a time, that is, if your ship is still giving match play which I believe will end on all Carnival ships very soon.

As I live at the roulette table, anytime we have an alert dealer they will stop anyone from playing both sides of a 50-50 bet, or even bets that cover the whole board except the zeros (like playing 1st/2nd and 3rd sets), even without it being match play. I have seen people argue and the dealer still tell them no. I have also seen the dealer allow it if the player protests. Hit or miss.

I used about 60 of them on the Conquest in September, until I could no longer stand to drink another Classic Cocktail. Won enough money to cover the cost of the Cheers Program.

I didnt do quite that good but it didnt matter because we were on vacation and I finished a little up but the DW offset that:confused:

Is there some reason for this that I'm overlooking or is it just a dealer/policy-setter who is bad at math and expects different results in the long run with paired vs. sequential bets?

I wouldn't call this an alert dealer, I would call it an uneducated dealer because if someone makes those bets without match play the odds are he will wind up losing money.

Does anyone have a list of the classic cocktails?

Also Mai Tai and The Cruiser

Our last cruise in September on Glory I really started liking the Mai Tai's and getting the $5 matchplays each night to counter some of my losses. I was lucky and won most of mine on BJ. One thing to note- they will not pay you the full BJ pay (bad payout to begin with, but better than even money) with a matchplay- they will just pay you the $5 win plus the full pay on your $5 chip.

Bummed to hear that they are no longer doing this on the Splendor. Sailing in January on Splendor. Will try to find out why they stopped or if it is "back" on this ship.

Took me a sec to figure out what you guys were talking about.. Thats genius! Bet $5 on red with match play and $5 on black without. Red wins $20 - $5, black wins $10 (essentially pushing, no actual money lost).

Will the casino allow that?
