We just booked a cruise that leaves in 19 days! Any great place to stay..we are flying in the day before and are staying a day after we get back. Any ideas or recommendations will be greatly appreciated!

The Marriott Stellaris is a very nice hotel. Also try posting on the San Juan forum:

My kind of people, nothing like a last minute trip! We're staying at the Sheraton Old San Juan next month when we sail. Right at the pier so you can't beat that.

If you're embarking in San Juan on Royal Caribbean, the ship doesn't leave from Old San Juan. It's a different pier.

We've stayed at Embassy Suites, Condado Hilton and Caribe Hilton. All are very nice and within walking distance of dining and shopping options. Sheraton in Old San Juan would be a nice location for a night too.

Staying in Old San Juan is great but you will have to take a taxi to the pier. Not to expensive if I can remember corrrectly.

We stayed at Plaza De Arma may not be spelled right. Very inexpensive and great location. We had a big balcony overlooking the plaza which was all lite up for christmas.

Yes....we just looked at Royal Caribbean's email and they had an offer for veterans and it was too good to pass up! We just came back from a cruise 20 days ago! Thank you all for the great suggestions..I'm looking to book the room tonight...can't stand the stress!

We stayed in this one, too. It's also known as a Howard Johnson's. Great location in OSJ. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Taxi to pier was not too costly and are easy to get right out front. There wasn't a restaurant in the hotel when we were there - I think they were remodeling it. But there was a Subway just across the plaza where they served breakfast. Walgreen's for wine right there, too.

I'd stay there again!

1) El San Juan Resort & Casino, Hilton Hotel

2) San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino

3) Ritz Carlton

4) Embassy Suites

We've stayed at Marriott Stelaris, nice hotel, lousy casino (they took my money). Stayed at Embassy & Hilton Caribe. I'd recommend Embassy or Hilton Caribe over Stelaris

We are also flying in the day before and flying home the day after! I was looking at the Embassy Suites but was wondering if we could walk somewhere to get wine and to eat.

Yes. There are Ruth's Chris Steak House, Chili's, Denny's, Burger King, Starbucks, Walgreens, a supermarket and many others in the area within walking distance.

Plus Embassy Suites offers free breakfast, and a manager special open bar.

P.S.

There is an Outback Steakhouse at the Embassy Suites San Juan Hotel & Casino.

I don't go to San Juan to eat at Subway or Denny's! Or any American chain restaurant. The local food is just way too good.

Just back from another cruise. Second year in a row that I've done a repositioning cruise from San Juan to Miami.

Stayed at the Marriott Stellaris post cruise a few years ago. Last year, stayed two pre-cruise nights in OSJ at the Sheraton. This year, stayed at La Concha on Halloween night (booked all these through either Priceline or Hotwire - see the "stuck" thread at the top of the board for bidding help).

Lots of good places to eat along Ashford Avenue. Had dinner at Orozco's on Friday. It was great!

Had breakfast at Danny's, just down the street from the Marriott. Good breakfast out on the patio with great coffee (and I'm not even a coffee drinker). :D

You can find maps on Trip Advisor and select hotels and restaurants to see what's where.

Hi bouhunter. I am looking to stay a night before our cruise in jan. These are the 3 hotels I'm looking at, but I cannot decide on which one!! They are all around the same price but all have qualities I like! Can you please give me some input on these hotels? Which one is closer to old San Juan? And which one did you like the best? Thanks in advance!!
