Is there any way to find out if there is a special interest group on your cruise

I am looking to cruise the freedom of the sea in 2015 on oct 25. While doing my research I see that there are no suites available. So i started checking and that is the only date next year that there are no suites available.

So I started thinking maybe there some group or organization that have that boat and date picked. Is there anyway to find out if there are.

There is a large bikers group that often sails the freedom the last week or so in October. You may want to Google that. The ship is not chartered, but I understand that the group is one half to two thirds of the passengers.

Enjoy.

I once learned from our cruise line booking agent there was an Elvis impersonator convention booked (oddly enough, we never saw them). Why not ask the cruise line? ;)

I dont' know for sure, but I suspect the cruise line itself will be tight lipped about it. The Google or other search engine approach is the only semi -reliable way. Groups tend to plan many months in advance and have info on their own website. I did have a group of insurance adjusters on my 2013 Allure cruise. I believe there was about 500 with families. Unless I walked by one of the meeting rooms I wouldn't have known they were there.

The cruise line will NEVER tell you about any groups on the ship. You will have to find that information out yourself.

Almost all cruises have some sort of groups. Regardless of the nature of the group, in my opinion, any group that is 20-30% of the passenger count is too large for me. A group of 600 on the enchantment of the seas is a bigger issue than a group of 600 on the allure of the seas.

A quick search showed that the biker rally cruise, will be on the freedom of the seas October 25, 2015. I understand it is a very large group. They do not charter the ship but take over more than half.

We were on the October 26, 2014 freedom cruise. The biker cruise was the following cruise. On our freedom cruise, we spoke to a couple who inadvertently booked a cruise that included the biker cruise. They spoke of the many venues that were closed off to the public for the large group. They commented on the activities being centered around a large group. This past year they actually wanted to sail on the early November cruise, but changed it to the October 26 cruise so they would not be on the ship with a large group.

OP. Enjoy, whatever you decide.

I have found this website a good starting point for finding out which groups are on our cruises.

I just discovered that there will be an Authors group and a Poker group on our February 9th. Enchantment cruise. Fine with me! Readers (like myself) are pretty quiet people, and the Poker people will be in the casino where I never step foot due to the smoke.

We have also been on a cruise with square dancers, a Goddess of Health, and a group called Bears. Only issue was that the Bears guys were super good at trivia!!

None of these groups were very large though, and I think that makes a huge difference. I would never want to cruise with a huge group on board.

There is actually a website that someone posted on here before where you can search the cruise and dates you will be onboard and what groups will be onboard with you. I can't remember the site for the life of me but if I remember before someone else comes back and beats me to it, I will let you know.

Edit:

Nevermind, I see cello56 posted the site I was talking about. But also try http://groupsahoy.com/search/royalcaribbean.php You can enter the specific month and day!

No sure how to find the information, but we were on the Allure in 2011 and there was a convention for the company Pentair (swimming pool filters and pumps, ect). Which I thought would be interesting, as I was in the swimming pool business, but they had special show times, and dining times, and closed portions of the ship at certain times for the convention. All of our reservations for shows and dining were changed without notice. It was a small inconvience to us and I would personally consider another week if I was able too make that change again.

I don't know how this person found out but several months ago someone posted that my cruise on the Navigator (12-6-14) will have a large group of transgenders onboard. No kidding.

Googled it!

Nope they are sailing on Dec 14-21, 2014.

Well after doing some research I am 95 percent sure the date i am looking at is a bikers cruise. If you look up high seas rally its a bikers cruise web sight. And while i haven't seen the name freedom of the sea they did have a picture of it

PJ - a few more clicks will bring up the Freedom ship name and deck plans. You can raise your % to 100%.

If you are considering the cruise, you may want to click a few spots on the rally site to see the group size ( they reserve half the ship and estimate 2000 attendees) , their trade show area, their exclusive second dinner seating, expected dress, etc. that way you will be informed.

For most of the ones described, you need to know the theme first. It would be cool to be able to find a theme on the cruise you have planned before you go. One year we had a yoga group on board. When we would go to breakfast in the buffet they would be spread all over the deck and we had to find a way around them. Not sure that we have ever had a venue closed to us, that would otherwise be open. There was an Oak Ridge Boys group not too long ago, but all of their meetings and concerts were in places that would have been closed at the time. The largest Packer Player group we have ever had was 150.
