What's the Nicest Thing a Carnival Team Member Ever Did For You?

I appreciated how attentive the camp carnival team was on the Legend. My 3 year old son went for the first time this year. He'd go for a few hours and then we'd pick him up. I got a call from one of their staff one afternoon saying he just didn't seem like himself and seemed sad and she thought I should come to see him. He was momsick and just wanted to come with me and I really appreciated their effort to make him comfortable/happy.

I will be going on my very first cruise dream new years eve and the compassion you folks say the crew has is so wonderful. My husband and I never were able to have a honeymoon because we were both package deals. We are going on our 18th:) year and doing the dream! We are excited. It happens to me every cruise... a team member lets me get on the ship! Best thing ever... now if I could just stop the ones who make be get off!

 

We have had so many wonderful people on cruises that the very few problems disappear and are forgotten while the good ones are remembered.

On my Sunshine cruise in August my room steward replaced my mattress and my dining staff brought me the recipe for the creamy mushroom soup. (70 gallons so I will have to reduce that a bit, lol).

Last December we were on a 5 day family cruise on the triumph with my brother and his 2 sons and their families. There were 10 of us. My wife loves the Creme brûlée so she asked our waiter which night it would be served. He told her that it wasn't served on a 5 day cruise. She was disappointed, but understood. On the last night when it was dessert time our waiter showed up with 10 Creme brûlées. He was very thoughtful to do that for us.

Altho I do not have a super touching story to add. I still like to acknowledge carnival employees for just going above and beyond for the littlest things. I took my first carnival cruise Splendor in 2013. As a east coast circuit professional poker player I make it a point to always introduce myself to casino hosts everywhere, even on cruise ships. I met 2 of the most lovely hosts ever on that ship. Didn't expect nothing from our small talk. Just a friendly introduction as I would be spending most sea days in the casino for hours on end.

 

Anywho, throughout the whole cruise I would have the casino manager and or host come over to watever table I was playing on. Weather it was blackjack, roulette or the poker table aand would offer to buy rounds for the whole table consistently for the whole cruise.

 

Needless to say with all the great gifts sent to my room every night as a first time carnival cruiser I felt as like I was in Macau or in a fine casino/hotel. Simple gestures from strawberry platter and cake. To a bottle of wine at dinner the last 2 nights for my group of 6.

 

I was approached on the last sea day heading home by the manager of the casino in the casino and explained that NKoB (new kids on the block were going to be on the next sailing and wanted a private poker game for their party and asked my opinion of the electronic poker table. He sat down with other casino dealers and we all played a small tournament to view the adjustments they made on the game to accommodate the performers. After asking for my help. Gave me a 100$ OBC to use for the last night of the ship

 

It was fun as I did go on to win all 3 blackjack tournaments and earned all 3 ships on a stick. But was amazed to see how much they appreciate their guests and offer the up most hospitality

Sounds like Carnival's casino hosts took great care of you. Have you been back onboard since that cruise? I'd be interested to know how they took care of you on subsequent cruises.

Back in 2008, my family and I cruised on the Inspiration when it was still in Tampa. One night during dinner our waiter, Romulo, stopped what he was doing during that busy time to sit down and play Tic Tac Toe with my son. I will never forget that. He helped make that cruise so special for him. He was always making him things out of the napkins when he was there. Such a great guy.

On my Valor cruise 10/31 we had a memorial service and burial at sea for my Mom. Someone overheard me say that my Mom called my sister her yellow rose of Texas. At the ceremony my sister was given a single yellow rose while my two nieces were given a red rose each. Carnival, the Valor and officers and crew members will always have a place in my heart.

My husbands father passed away while we were on our cruise this past summer. A family member made an emergency call to the ship to let us know (he had been sick, so it wasn't exactly unexpected.) When we arrived at guest services they were beyond nice to us. They told us the satellite phone was ours to use whenever we needed it and could they help us reschedule our flight or get transportation to the airport for us? Additionally, the head of guest services called our stateroom that night to personally check if we were doing okay and if they could possibly do anything for us. It was very sweet and very appreciated! They honestly could have just told us to use our stateroom phone and deal with everything ourselves.

My first cruise was in 1995 aboard the then-new Fascination out of San Juan. I was with my cousin and we were seated at a large table in the main dining room. In those days, the crew members wore name tags with both their first and last names. I am obviously Caucasian, but the first night when our Costa Rican waiter approached, I read his name from his name tag, correctly pronounced, and he was taken aback because no one pronounces it correctly. He asked me if I spoke Spanish and I replied that I do.

 

That began many hours of conversation between us, both while I was still on the cruise, and then via phone and letters after I came home. This was before common internet availability so we really had to work at maintaining contact, but we found the time and manner to stay in touch and visit each others' homes, with him coming here to Arizona and me going to Costa Rica.

 

We were married in 1997, in his nephew's garden in Costa Rica, and have a 13-day Carnival Journey cruise planned in 2017 to celebrate our 20 years of marriage!

 

Thank you, Carnival, for hiring such a lovely, kind person who later became my husband!

So nice to read all the stories and not hear people complaining about this or that person

 

A few stand out people to me were on a NCL cruise. From Day one our butler Charlie became like family and was the most genuine nicest person I've had the pleasure of meeting on a cruise.....He always had a smile and was one step ahead of anything before we could even think about it.....He knew we were in the casino quite a bit and drank our fair share and would make sure there was VitaWaters in the room to help rehydrate without asking him....Everyday he wished us Good Luck and took the time to actually talk with us about himself etc. Not just the normal chit chat or not even seeing your butler or room steward in some cases.....I read other reviews and Charlie was mentioned in quite a few as the special guy who made people's cruises feel that much more awesome....Charlie's one of those rare people that when you meet him you can actually feel the warmth n genuine happiness in his persona

 

One other time on Carnival we were celebrating my wife's birthday and the Casino host surprised us with a comped speciality restaurant n 2 bottles of wine plus a birthday cake..... This wasn't planned with her and was so thoughtful and sweet of her

 

There's really great staff on board all the ships but it seems from all the stories that some just seem to outshine at certain times 😃😃

I know that I have posted here before that there was not one single thing that stood out among others, but that Carnival staff in total have been so wonderful to me and made me feel like a valued guest.

 

But will add to this thread, that on my recent cruise on the Victory in October, I was impressed once again by the wonderful crew/staff aboard, but one individual in particular impressed me, and I feel stupid after so many cruises not to have gotten his name.

 

Long story short/er if poss. In recent years I have become somewhat mobility impaired. (nothing that is immediately noticeable), but since I cruise solo now, when I go to the buffet, I find it very difficult to get a plate and a drink, and then make my way to a table with both in hand, so my habit now is to eat first, get drink after.

 

Well, one morning, at lido breakfast on Victory, I had done just that, gotten my breakfast and was eating it, when a staff member came over and said he noticed that I had not had a drink. He brought me a coffee, and when I attempted to hand over a buck (always carry them in my pocket for those special folks) he did not want to take it.

 

So...to date...Carnival cruise line on board staff, are the best in my books.

 

But this gentleman, surely did make me feel like a valued guest.:)

On our Splendor cruise in September at our first meal on the Lido, I saw one of the workers with a Fun Times and asked him where to get one. He told me where I could get one. After a while and much to my surprise, he brought one to me at my table. He had made the effort to go and get one. It was a small gesture, but much appreciated.
